We’re back! Hiatus finally came to an end and now we’re in the final stretch of the series. What were some of your favorite and least favorite moments from this week’s episode “Secret Garden”?
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 2, 2018 at 9:26 pm #345685AKAParticipantThis was an “okay” episode. I give it a 6/10
Liked:
Gothel is intriguing and I am interested in what she is up to
Lucy is woken up, so that is not spread out too much and we still have the danger of the curse in affect
Rumple and Nook working together is actually appealing to me
Zelena’s one liners while way too contrived were still very amusing and made me laugh
I also like Nook’s advice to Zelena about not having to have magic to save her daughter but just to show her how much she loved her. I think they were going with Zelena/Robyn and Tremaine/Ivy parallel but unfortunately they fell short.
Mixed/Disliked:
Tremaine/Ivy: I really wanted and needed an emotional pay off with these two, and I guess we kind of got one but it felt unsatisfactory. I think this would have worked better if Tremaine had come to the conclusion that she was so busy saving one daughter that she did not see the daughter right in front of her before the death scene. The emotional pay off would have been right after they got out of the well or even before they got out of the well and then she could have sacrificed herself at the end of the episode. The way they did it, felt like she could not figure this out until her daughter was going to die, that is not a good emotional pay off this is just a very bad mother’s guilt and the sacrifice therefore was diminished to guilty feelings also.
The high heel shoe hit perfectly to lower the rope? The rope was lowered and Tremaine decides to put her hands in it and be lifted up by Gothel? Really writers you need to do better than that!
Acting or Writing or whatever was very stunted in scenes and actually really bad. It just seemed that some scenes were completely flat and uninspiring. The scene in EF between Regina and Zelena had none of the normal zip it was bland, most of the scenes at the hospital were blah, Any scene with Anna was badly done. I am not sure what it was but not good.

Liked:
Lucy is awake. I forgot that OUAT doesn’t drag things out. I’m glad we don’t have to see a comatose Lucy for the rest of the season.
Victoria is dead. She was really annoying. I’m glad Ivy got some closure with her, even if their relationship still doesn’t make sense.
The bar was originally Kelly and Roni’s.
Nook! Finally a better name than Wish Hook (and easier to write).
Mixed:
Are they trying to make Zelena and Nook a thing? There was definitely a vibe there.
Are they ever going to wake Rogers up? I feel like he needs the whole story and not the one made up for him.
Nice contrivence to get Zelena her magic back
Disliked:
I’m still confused about Drizella and Rapunzel’s relationship. When Anastasia was doing the lanterns Drizella seemed like she wanted to give up, but now it was her idea? And Drizella could not have cared less for Rapunzel when she returned, when did that relationship change to Drizella wanting her mother’s affection? After Anastasia’s death?
They are never going to explain this timeline are they. It makes no sense. How the hell was Robin 18 in Storybrooke? She should have, at the least, been around 7-8 years old.
I don’t believe for a second that Victoria would’ve sacrificed herself when Anastasia was still under Gothel’s influence.
Do I care who killed the doctor? No.
March 2, 2018 at 11:19 pm #345691RumplesGirlKeymasterMy turn! I was hoping that the last 12 episodes of the series manage to hit it out of the park and parts of this episode are fine. Gothel is interesting enough to keep the next 11 episodes from being a waste and the audience has a lot of vested interest in Regina and Henry. But honestly outside of that, that same *something* that was missing from the first half is still missing. So much of the magic is gone. The writing and acting feels stilted and tired, like many shows winding down after years and years on the air.
7/10
LIKED
–“You’re a believer Henry, even if you don’t know it.” I’m hoping we get a Regina/Henry reunion soon. It’s gonna be so emotional.
–I much prefer Gothel as a villain to Rapunzel/Lady Tremaine. The latter was just so ineffectual and boring.
–Nook! LOL that’s a good one.
–Love the Haunted Mansion shout out with Madame Leota and incorporating the voice over of the ride. Plus the fact that Memento Mori is the name of the gift shop outside of the Haunted Mansion ride!
MIXED
–The fact that I’m relieved at the minimal Jacinda in this episode is a sign of how terrible the writing/acting of this character have been.
–Hmmm. I don’t know how I feel about them waking up Lucy this early. The threat was never real (please, they’d never kill Lucy nor Henry) but now it feels like a waste of a good story.
–RIP Rapunzel? Anwar was horrible in this role so it’s not a great loss but again, waste of a mediocre story. Also, they made her a regular cast member for almost nothing!
DISLIKED
–Seriously, I know I’m a broken record but what is up with this nonsense timeline??? How is Robyn a late teen in SB “years ago.” I legitimately do not understand.
–The Resurrection Amulet? That’s a new plot device, right? One that probably would have been useful years ago but is only now coming to light?
–Mother Nature is a pseudonym for Gothel? Suuuuuuure.
–The high heel hit in just the right spot on the rope level on the first try. *rolls eyes*
–The amulet was in the sign? And Zelena had a lucky guess? Sure. Suuuure. Whatever.
–Okaaaaay. Awkward question but does Robyn *know* how she was conceived??

I had the exact same thought but if Zelena/Kelly has a fiancee in San Fran…that makes it really complicated, right?

They’re hitting us over the head with the metaphor hammer.

It was pretty good, nothing too spectacular, but just enough.
Liked:
Seeing the better sort of mother Zelena became with her daughter. She had some Cora moments early, but seeing that unconditional love for Robyn was pretty great to see, and definitely the highlight.
Robyn takes after Robin Hood…excuse me while I go cry.
The Mills Sisters and the relationship with their kids really is the highlight of the season for me so far, and I definitely can’t wait to see Henry interact with his cousin.
Mills Sisters Team & Sass, everything!
Seeing Victoria give her life for Ivy was pretty good.
Mixed:
Sooooo…….my interest in the new characters are just not there….like honestly speaking, it’s just not. I try really hard, but yeah….the only new character I’ve come to love is Alice and she’s not in here. And Lucy too.
As much as Robyn might grow on me…..I hope she already knows how exactly she got here.
Dislike:
Magical McGuffins….
Oh, so now Madame Leota is one of the most powerful figures in the realms. It’s a new one every season, I swear.

Only one conclusion to take from this, Rumple is without a doubt bad and dumb dark one, that takes centuries to make portals, when other characters, some without magic do them all the time now, doesnt know about timetravel, doesnt know anything about dark one story, doesnt know there are ways of talking with the dead( hello magic mushroom), doesn`t know about resurrection amulet, and every year there are worst villains and more powerful figures than actually the dark one, that was suppossed to be the worst and more powerful of them all( including the saviors, bc that appears is a title they give just because).
"I offended you with my opinion? Ha, you should hear the ones I keep to myself".

yep I got that too. They would actually make some sense together. Both past villains with dubious consent issues. Both trying to be better people once they became parents. They have a lot in common and since we don’t have much time left an easy romance.
