Marching along with only 8 to go! What were your favorite and least favorite moments of this week’s episode The Girl in the Tower?

.March 23, 2018 at 10:13 pm #346194Jiminy’s JournalParticipantI actually watched this one!
Apparently Alice is now the little girl from The BFG. Okay. Fine.
Robin/Alice are so adorable. “Nobin.”
So, Alice can will things into existence, huh? Could it have something to do with all the time her father spent in Neverland?
Um, where were we in this episode? Because, obviously that’s HER tower, and thus Victoria’s, not Alexandra Metz’, so that’s GOT to be EF2, but the pub seemed to be the same one from the Outlaw Queen stuff. Not to mention, they knew of Robin, Sr. being dead. Unless there was some kind of Crisis…
The scene were they returned to the tower, only for it to get destroyed? Straight out of Tangled: The Series.
Also, Alice talked about her father’s “six impossible things!” Just like Sophie Lowe! I should mention that Rose would’ve made the perfect Penelope Scarlet. Just sayin’.
Swanfiremobile going full-on Weasley Ford Anglia!
But, what is going on with everybody from the Market forgetting Tilly? People at my local market remember me, when I go. And Tilly said she goes every day; I only go once a week, at most.
The frame-up plot reminds me of what happened to Mary Margaret in S1.
March 23, 2018 at 11:14 pm #346195RumplesGirlKeymasterGENERAL: I quite liked this episode. Alice is a bright spot on a season that hasn’t felt like it had any magic left to show. Definitely the best of this half and maybe my second favorite after “Beauty.”
8.5/10
LIKED
–Alice is talking to a hat. It’s both hilarious and not at all surprising.
–Love the “Pilot” reference with Alice blowing out the candle.
–Alice and Robin’s meet cute scene in the EF 2.0 was adorable. I ship it!
–“What if I don’t exist at all?” I really really love Alice, guys. I wish she had been around for so much longer. They’ve actually managed to give Alice complexity and depth that has been lacking in other S7 characters.
–“Turns out… I have more than one hair pin!” I love how proud Alice is of that fact and not that she managed to pick a lock.
–“What am I supposed to do? Say ‘hey troll, stop!'” *troll stops* “…yes”
–I’m glad they answered the question of where the troll even came from because I was about to call it a serious plot hole.
MIXED
–Having Emma work with Henry to spy on Regina back in S1 was okay because in the end Regina would never hurt Henry; however Mr. Samdi doesn’t have the same consideration for Lucy so Regina recruiting her granddaughter to spy on him seems….reckless.
–I need to not find Ivy and Henry compelling because we all know Jacidna/Henry are endgame in spite of the lack of chemistry. But I really did like Ivy apologizing to Henry for everything that Cursed!Henry doesn’t know about yet.
–Alice can will things into existence???? Hooooooow? I mean, this probably answer the question of who the Guardian is, though. But SwanFire mobile to the rescue!
DISLIKED
–I will never understand how adults in TV do not see someone hiding under a table that is totally open and has no tablecloth.
–I find nothing compelling nor interesting about Regina and Facilier and the reveal of his big plan was more groan worthy than interesting. Shocking…someone wants the Dark One dagger!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 23, 2018 at 11:30 pm #346200StahlopParticipantI really liked this episode. So that’s two in a row.
Liked:
Younger Alice when she got out of the tower. Loved that she was wearing a typical Alice in Wonderland outfit and having a tea party!
So Alice can wish for things and they appear or happen. Did that only start on that specific birthday (I want to say it’s her 18th, but I’m not 100% sure)? Also, I’m assuming the magic comes from Gothel being her mother.
And speaking of magic, does anyone else think a Gothel is framing Alice? I assumed that the reason no one knew Tilly was because Eloise made them forget somehow.
Tilly about to start reading Robin Hood in Henry’s apartment.
Just excellent acting from Rose Reynolds all around!
Mixed:
I’m liking Robin and Alice together, but I’m just not a fan of the actress playing Robin. Her acting just takes me out of the moment, especially with how well Rose Reynolds is as Alice. They still have great chemistry though.
Loved the Rogers/Tilly bonding, but I find it odd Weaver wasn’t helping out. And even weirder that Rogers asked, Henry to help him find out where Tilly was when he isn’t law enforcement. Keeping Tilly at Henry’s place, okay, I’ll buy that. Having a civilian help out in his investigation doesn’t make any sense. But I guess they had to get him involved somehow.
Disliked:
What the hell was Regina thinking sending Lucy into Samdi’s apartment?
Why did the troll turn into the troll bridge troll from Seattle and why did it come over in the curse?
March 23, 2018 at 11:55 pm #346202TheWatcherParticipantWhat was this episode even?
why/how can Alice summon things into existence? Is it because Gothel is her mother?
at this stage it’s incredibly obvious that Hook is the killer. Wasn’t the killer even wearing a leather jacket and black gloves? Y’all, It’s Nook.
Is Facilier working with Gothel? What does Naveen have to do with getting the dagger?
im sorry, like, none of this is flowing together logically I have so many questions

….what’s funny is how relatable that part was for me.
i work with a lot of patrons at my job too. A LOT. The amount of times I’ve had to fake remembering someone is sad. My thing is, once you walk away I probably won’t ever remember having talked to you. Hundreds and Hundreds of people come into my job everyday. I simply don’t/cannot recognize everyone whom I only spend a few minutes with out of the day. It’s sad but funny ? ?

17th, based on her “62,000 days” comment.
March 24, 2018 at 4:45 am #346207bellaroseParticipantI really enjoyed this episode
I liked Robyn in this episode. I didn’t like her in her last episode and I’m glad they addressed her personality change by saying that she wasn’t a very good girl in Storybrooke because I really didn’t find her likable.
Loved Alice she’s defiantly got sort of magical mojo going on there. I felt so bad for Tilly when she realised that nobody recognized her.
Ivy only had a small seen in this ep but she rocked it. I loved her apology to Henry.
Speaking of Henry I’m a little confused on what his role is. At the beginning they made a big deal about how the new season is about Henry and Cinderella but they are barely in any of the plot lines.
Not sure why Regina went through all that trouble to track down Zelena, beg for her help and bring her to HH just so she could lie to her about Dr Facilier. Distracting him while Lucy went through his apartment made even less sense.

Honestly? I think the writers realized fairly early on that the Henry/Ella love story wasn’t shaping up to the epic true love story they wanted so they quickly inserted a necklace to prove true love, got them married off screen, and then poofed a baby into existence without any sort of real organic development.
And I think they are going to be leaning heavily on Alice and Robyn because Henry and Ella fizzled out.

Liked:
Alice/Tilly is so much fun. I haven’t felt this excited about a character since Rumple in season 1. The actress is outstanding I mean when she feels upset, sad, excited, happy, whatever I feel the exact same way for her.
Alice and Hook’s relationship is really growing on me. I mean when I first found out, I thought it was a stupid ploy to try and get us anti-hook fans to like him, well guess what is kinda worked I don’t hate Nook.
I enjoyed the sisterly moments between Regina and Zelena this episode.
I could care less if it is not end game I totally ship Ivy and Henry
Alice quoting Nook with a very profound “You meet loads of people in this world but the best ones will challenge you, make you see the world through a whole new looking glass” Loved this quote, loved the moment between Alice and Robyn. Probably why I tend to ship villains with good hearted mates that can help them see redemption as an option.
Mixed/Disliked:
So I am trying to figure out the timeline of when Regina and Facilier were somehow a couple. So Facilier and Zelena know each other? So is this from the EF2 or before, because Zelena and Regina did not officially meet until Season 3 when Regina was getting together with Robin Hood and was definitely on the road to redemption from Evil Queen. Really should have just had them meet in EF2.
Regina why would you send your granddaughter into a person’s house you do not trust to snoop around. I mean Lucy is what 12? Bad Grandma move.
Why would Facilier want Rumple’s dagger? Just seems random. I would hope despite their twisted past that Regina would not betray Rumple in that way, I am not so sure about Zelena but Regina who she is now would not do that. Actually even in season 1 or 2 I don’t think Regina would do it, she has always had an I can mess with him but no one else can attitude.
I remember in season 2 after Cora’s death Rumple and Regina having a conversation where Rumple says “you still haven’t learned your lesson, you can’t have everything.” Those words come back to haunt villains all the time. Rumple obviously didn’t take his own advice several times between season 4-6. That quote came back this episode with Regina and Facilier when Facilier tells Regina or you can have everything. That always means trouble on OUAT.
