And then there two…
What were you favorite and least favorite moments of the penultimate episode of OUAT, “Homecoming?”
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 11, 2018 at 9:00 pm #347252RumplesGirlKeymasterGENERAL: Sooooo. I’m not sure about this one. There are a lot of callbacks and fun characters coming back to our screen. But it also feels very fan-servicey. Like the writers couldn’t think of a really good reason to bring everyone back except because it’s part one of the series finale. Pan, Ariel, Cruella, ect don’t actually serve a major purpose except to wink at the audience before going back to forgotten character island. It’s…not enough to warrant them.
Still, it’s a decent episode and there’s some good family stuff, some good plot, and some answered questions.
Rating: 7/10
LIKED
–Nook and Alice talking on the phone but not being able to be any closer was really heartbreaking. I can’t believe there’s a version of Hook I genuinely like and am rooting for.
–“This whole thing started years ago with a wish on a cupcake.”
–“We don’t negotiate with villains! We kick [butt] and protect the people we love.”
–“I know it’s a bit cluttered; but it’s beach front property.” “All I see is a cave where booze goes to perish.”
–Bobby Carlyle is a gift, be it Human!Rumple or Crazy!DarkOne!Rumple. We’ve been blessed to have him on our screens for seven years.
–Wow, it took us five years but the biggest and ambiguous prophecy in the show’s history finally comes back full circle. I don’t know if the writers intended this all along or they realized that the prophecy never really got resolved so they decided to bring it back now but at least it’s fully answered.
–“The timelines alone would make one’s head spin.” LOL!
–“If it comes in with a built-in Margo, then I’m all in.”
MIXED
–Tiana’s crisis would be interesting if we had spent any time with her over the last year. She’s been such a background character that I honestly forget she exists half the time.
–It’s always good to see Peter Pan, Cruella, Ariel, Blue, ect again even if the Wish Realm is weird and the only reason it’s being featured now is because the writers want to trot out the fan favorites before the end.
–“None of my wishes ever came true” is sad but…I will continue to believe that the Wish Realm is mostly nonsense and just an excuse for the writers to trot out long long characters.
DISLIKED
–Horrible CGI dragon is horrible.
–Mirrors now take you to the Wish Realm. Because, of course they do.
–It wouldn’t be the end of OUAT without some Magical MacGuffins! A glass ball that won’t break, a seashell that holds the key to defeating Rumple.
–One last time for Jeremy: SQUID INK!
–Doesn’t Wish Henry know that Dark One Rumple is his grandfather? And doesn’t Dark One Rumple know that Wish Henry is his grandson?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 11, 2018 at 9:36 pm #347257AKAParticipantI agree with everything Rumple’s Girl said. I liked some of this episode and felt irritated by other parts of it. All in all I would give it a 7/10

I think the writers thought that they resolved it, but us fans did not so that left a loop hole for them to revisit and I am glad they did.

Robert Carlyle!!!!!!
“The timelines alone would make one’s head spin.” LOL!
Loved that quote, great shout out to the fans.
Rumple and Nook working together, actually all the characters working together.
I hate the wish realm, but if they are going to bring it back into play I am glad they are addressing the fact that Henry watched his grandparents being murdered and his mother being stolen by Regina.
Nook and Tilly were heartbreaking and sweet, I really love their daughter/father relationship

Agreed!!!
I loved seeing imp Rumple even if I don’t agree with the writers of his thought process. So let me get this correct, if Real Rumple passes on the dark one dagger to the guardian or whoever both him and Wish Rumple looses their immortality and power (darkness)? Which means they should merge into one and therefore both would get back to Belle if he finds a way to get rid of the dagger? What the writers are forgetting is that Wish Rumple had Belle, she lived in his castle, was his maid, and he let her go. The entire Belle and Rumple story in EF should be the same as the wish realm version, So they are telling us that he has no desire to get back to her? That this Rumple who spent 200 years trying to get back to the only other person he has loved, Bae would just suddenly say oh well. Our Real Rumple as soon as Belle walked into his shop after he thought she was dead for 30 years wanted her back, why is this one different. He has a chance of getting back to both his son and Belle why would he not want to take that? I know everyone else is assuming he is just the “beast” because he did not have Bae to fight for and maybe I can see that but I still don’t buy that he would just revert back to not wanting Belle and possibly getting back to Bae in the afterworld.
Henry and Cruella’s sword fight was really just cheesy and pointless.
Disliked:
Doesn’t Wish Henry know that Dark One Rumple is his grandfather? And doesn’t Dark One Rumple know that Wish Henry is his grandson?
Exactly!!! and our Henry doesn’t he realize that Wish Rumple is still his grandfather and doesn’t wish Rumple know that real Henry is his grandson. That exchange was really odd. I get that Henry would be weary of Wish Rumple but he was out and out aggressive before any words were exchanged and did not try and reason with him at all.
Sabine and whatever his name is: The fact that I can’t remember either his cursed or non cursed name says something. At this point in time they need to sideline any characters who are not central to the story and they definitely did not develop Sabine enough to be central.
Ella/Jacinda: Her facial expressions are really bad. They are either over exaggerated or completely wrong. In the snow globe it looked like she was actually smiling?

I always heard that A&E always knew how they wanted the show to end… I am thinking it was with a form of RUMPLE being the big bad and needing to be reformed. I am liking how this finale is going… especially the call back to the first season “lost / forgotten prophecy”
.
.
I had also heard from a friend of mine that all the writers ( especially for the new ones) had to review the first season to tie in the stories. My friend is pretty reliable and usually knows a lot of the behind the scenes stuff.

I really wish I felt something for her but one of my biggest reliefs about this second half of the season has been the total lack of Jacinda.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 11, 2018 at 11:23 pm #347269StahlopParticipantGood episode with some great callbacks!
Liked:
The Apprentice acknowledging the wonky timeline. Thank you writers for calling out your own bull.
And thank you writers for finally acknowledging that Regina killed Wish Realm Snow and Charming. She may not have realized it at the time, but it was murder.
I knew that was Wish Realm Henry at the beginning. I know they were trying to make us think it was Henry when he first got to EF 2.0, but I wasn’t fooled.
Just love seeing evil Rumple. Robert Carlyle is just so good at it. He and Gold don’t even seem like the same person.
Hook and Alice’s phone conversation. Can someone please break their curse?
It all started with a cupcake and a wish.
Mixed:
I wish they’d done more with the Wish Realm versions of Peter Pan and Ariel. Robbie Kaye has changed so much I had to look him up to see that it was indeed the same actor. I would’ve liked the story of how Rumple captured him. And was anyone else getting a vibe between Ariel and Hook? I could actually get behind them together in their realm.
How can Wish Realm Henry yield the power of the author pen? Different paths mean he shouldn’t have the same powers.
I like that they brought back the prophecy about the boy being his undoing, but I’ve always gone on the assumption that Henry lead him to Pan and his undoing was when he killed Pan and himself. So now they’ve completely changed canon.
Disliked:
Portals can now take you across the country?
Is anyone going to let Zelena know that he curse is broken? And does she know that they traveled back in time? That would be an awkward conversation with her fiancé.
I totally forgot Wish Realm Henry’s father is still Baelfire. Does Rumplestiltskin know that?
Still not clear on how if Gold loses his darkness that Wish Realm Rumple will too. Did he lose it when Emma became the Dark One?
Hook used his fake hand to hold his phone and it tightened around the phone when he was talking to Alice.
The one thing I won’t miss is Dania Ramirez’s acting. She is so bad. How does she keep getting cast?
May 11, 2018 at 11:29 pm #347271GaultheriaParticipant-1 for the b-word
-1 for the b-word again
-1 because she’s making the b-word
-1 because he said she’s making the b-word
+1 because she said “the price of butter” instead of what I thought she was going to say
+(?)1 for Cruella talking like Mr. Freeze if animals were his theme
-1 for that other overused b-word, although it’s usually Belle who says it
-1 for life-threatening head trauma
+1 “That is indeed a complicated story. The timelines alone make one’s head spin.” (That’s breaking the fourth wall in a funny way…)
-1 “Only a true author could weave such a tale.” (…but don’t hurt yourselves trying to pat yourselves on the back.)
-1 Was Jared trying for an English accent? I guess because he’s sort of a villain, and that’s how Star Wars does it.
+1 The Tower
-1 The b-word again. It’s going to be double-demerits every time after this.
-1 Oh… good… it’s the belief speech again.

May 12, 2018 at 12:48 am #347276WickedRegalParticipantYou guys, we’re really closing in on our last review of the episode!
This episode wasn’t as neatly written as the last few episodes, so I’m hoping that by some miracle we’re shown that they saved the best for last, next week.
Rating: 7/10

Seeing Cruella De Vil, Peter Pan, and Ariel again was a surprising delight.
They remembered the prophecy and actually plan on seeing it through….definitely a surprise!
Henry’s family choosing to be heroes and choosing to go with him to the Wish Realm.
Seeing how far all three of our villains have come, Regina, Rumple, & Hook used to be thought of as the worst of the worst but we’ve seen in later seasons that they’re capable of not only changing for the better, but they’re capable of choosing the one thing they always fought…love. So Lana, Bobby, and Colin….they carried Season 7 well by themselves, in the end….it’s just not enough due to the questionable writing they’ve had to endure bringing to life.
Once again….Alice and Robyn are the best ship of Season 7! I love Henry but if I’m being honest…season 7 probably could’ve worked a bit better had it been revolved around them in the first place, LOL!
Mixed:
Tiana….girl….Snow White was nine months pregnant and fighting Wicked Witches, Flying Monkeys, and a Dark Curse….you have no excuses! LOL!!!
I care about Lucy and I’m sorry if it’s mean….but I honestly wouldn’t care if Jacinda died….I’m just not attached to this Cinderella. We definitely need to save Lucy….but Cindy…I just don’t care.
Dislike:
I guess we do need one last Magical McGuffin before the end.
Henry and Rumple EF Scenes….I guess they don’t know they’re related.
How many years has it been in Wish Realm EF, ya’ll?!!! Should Henry even still be a teenager?!!
