The Snow Queen wants a family that loves her. What do you think of this desire? Does it ring hollow to your ears since she seems to think people not like her are beneath her? Or do you think she was always unloved and hurt? Did she ever have a family that loved her?

And, how do you compare what the SQ wants against Cora, Pan, and Zelena?

First thought was AGAIN? It seems like this is all villains want.

It makes sense if she was a foster mom. She was attempting to find a family. Maybe someone took her family or they left and said they didn’t love her.

Why not just have a baby like Regina? Insta family!

Yeah this was my first reaction. Apart from Pan, it’s sorta the same old, same old.

Regina, felt unloved, did bad things.

Rumple, felt unloved, did bad things

Cora, felt unloved, did bad things.

Zelena, felt unloved, did bad things (SQ and Zelena especially seem alike in this regard)

However, Regina already has a family who loves her. She has Henry, but wants more.

Rumple had a family who loved him. He had Bae. But he wanted more. In addition, Rumple now has Belle, but wants more.

It’s what you feel. You’re either appreciative for what you have, and nourish it, as in Snow and David. Or, you’re unappreciative and selfish, and your relationship withers.

Cora was just power-hungry.  Lack of love never motivated her into doing bad things. After all, “Love is weakness”.

What confuses me is…. exactly which family is she wanting to love her. Who is her family?

I said this in another thread, but I’ll put it here too –

Why doesn’t she just breed though? Like, I’m sure you can get a ton of love from 10 kids after squeezing them out of you. Just, idk, have a few one-night-stands, or something? I’m pretty sure the human race has managed to manufacture love on an industrial scale without magic since the beginning.

    "so there’s this new show….."
    "there’s lesbians in it"

Jonathan never loved her. And when she learned that she did bad things. Even though she didn’t love him either. And her father, from what we know, wasn’t exactly father of the year and it turned her hard.

The whole “misunderstood” villain motif is getting stale. The fact that the Snow Queen is yet another member of Emma and Henry’s family is also highly unoriginal. As I wrote elsewhere, Maleficent is basically the only villain on the parent show who wasn’t somehow connected to the already twisted and heavy-ladened family tree.

By “bad things” you mean tricking Leopold? She just wanted to marry into royalty, as was the case with Jonathan.  She could’ve felt love with Zelena, but decided to abandon her so she could have another go at the marrying a prince thing. Then there was Rumple, but she chose power and ripped out her heart.

Her father’s behavior probably affected her, yes, but I think more about the fact that he was a lazy bum and she had to do all the work. That coupled with the fact that they were so poor is probably what made her thirst for power and riches.
