He was wearing the cuff so he had no magic…. And why did the dagger even harm Rump?
I’m gonna guess that Pan lost his magic when he transformed into Malcolm, and then the cuff was no longer active, and all the dagger had to do was pierce Rumple’s skin in order for it to take away his powers. (It’s a bit of a fanwank, but it works.)
Which…actually…does that official summary say that it did actually go all the way into Rumple’s heart or not? Because if it was just a surface wound…that sorta increases his odds of having his body survive.
ETA: Just looked it up. Official summary says…
He holds him close as he plunges the dagger through his back. It goes through his body and into Rumple’s as well. Pan returns to his original form. Magic washes over father and son until both are gone. Rumplestiltskin saved them.
Doesn’t specify that the dagger damaged any vital organs inside Rumple.

If the first in line had a child and then that child grew up and had a child and so on, then the line of succession would pass down that route.

The way I took it was that anyone who was not in FTL at the time but whom Regina wanted to punish (Jefferson, Whale) were brought by the Curse while people in other lands stayed behind.

I dont think she intentionally left behind anyone. She didnt know about Coras bubble spell. Everyone (she assumed) in FTL was affected by the curse whether she knew them or not, and there were others outside of it in other lands that she just snatched up because she wanted them punished too. She rolls like that.

Well she tells Mal in 102 “you’re my only friend” and of course she cursed Mal to be a dragon in a cave…so… I don’t hold out much hope for another relative or friend being protected. lol

I have a head canon that Shang is a girl in the ONCEiverse. And they will meet somehow.
If Shang is a girl, how would that translate into Mulans story? Wasn’t Shang the general or the son of the general? For him to be a woman, he too would have to be undercover. In the Mulan movie, both Shang’s assistant guy and Mulan’s father said if she was found out, she would be executed. Maybe Shang WAS found out and killed….
