hello,
My name is Marilou, I am from Canada and I feel head over heels for “Once Upon A Time”. I will admit that the only two reason I started watching was because of LOST, I was (am) a huge lostie, and because I am a fan of Robert Carlyle (from Ravenous to Stargate Universe, without forgetting The Full Monty and Trainspotting, the amount of talent in this guy is unbelievable).
Anyway, I was completely taken aback by how well written and and how addictive the show is. I guess I am just looking for a place to geek out and trade theories.
Salutations from up north,
Marilou

I’m also a huge fan of Robert Carlyle.

What has been your favorite episode so far? Have there been Lost easter eggs we’ve missed?

as far as LOST easter eggs goes, there is so many of them in almost every episode, I’m sure I could point out a few you may have missed and vice versa but the following web site seems to have compile quite a list. I’ll concede that some of them are a bit far fetched and may be simple coincidence but I believe it’s worth taking a quick look.

Now, for my favorite episode, I’ll have to go with “Skin Deep” it’s a cliché answer I’m afraid but it’s true. Sure, the love story was nice and all but the real big thing for me, was that it provided tremendous perspective on Rumple. A character that was a “villain”, someone that needed to be vanquished or defeated, suddenly was completely vulnerable. This episodes alone provided enough empathy for Rumplestiltskin for the whole season. It is a real turning point for this character in the show, like it is rarely seen on television.
“Skin Deep” also added a touch of colour to Rumple, someone that was gray, who did not seem to fight for either sides in particular, who only made deals that favor himself above all, suddenly wanted something he could not trade for or use magic to obtain (sure he got Belle by making a deal with her to save her village. but her love, she had to give to him willingly, in no way shape or form he could magically make her love him). So in order to get what he wanted he had to considers her feelings and what she wanted, which is an odd thing to ask from someone like Rumplestiltskin.
To make matters worst, once Rumple got what he wanted, he, in full conscience, drove it away. He is the only one responsible for his own misery (that statement also applies to him losing Bae) and it’s in the episodes “Skin Deep” that what he has done, seems to really hit him. Rumplestiltskin is childless and loveless because of himself. And that is how I think the public was able to relate to rumple; we have all had “missed opportunities” because of our own stubbornness.
My final argument on why “Skin Deep” is my favorite episode is a flaky one, but my favorite one nonetheless; how, when we see regina go to the mental ward to check up on Belle, my face completely changed and my friends and I started realizing how much mr. Gold would want to hurt Regina when he would find out that Belle is still alive and that the Evil queen kept her captive all this time.
