Robin found a picture (page 23) in his satchel. It belongs in the story book but comes from an alternative history, one in which Regina went into the bar.
1) How did it get inside his satchel? Did someone put it there?
2) Is history rewriting itself?
3) Can history be rewritten without time travel?
4) Is the author of the book still alive and manipulating things?

But to answer the questions….
1. The Sorcerer put it there…
2. I think History is fixing itself…
3. Knowing this show…I’d say it’s possible. #MemoryErase
4. The Sorcerer still is alive and manipulating things…
So Robin and Regina did meet back at the Tavern, and seemed heavily in love….the question is…who changed it and why?

I firmly believe that after that conversation, Regina started to believe that there was hope, that her fate wasn’t dictated by a book and that maybe she DID deserve a happy ending. I think the page appearing was a way for Regina to see that her life *could* have been different had she made different choices, not necessarily that the book has been rewritten or that her memories were erased. However, I think there’s a good chance she may try to replace Page 23 and we get a “what if” episode, which could be interesting.
And whoever/whatever is responsible for “writing” the book is very much at work. I suspect it’s sorcerer related, but maybe it will surprise me?

Agreed. I think it’s just a “the possibility for your happiness has always been a thing” thing.
Henry’s Book magically showed up when Henry needed something to make him see the light. This new page magically showed up when Regina needed something to make her see the light.

I understand emotional resolutions. I do. But when it comes at the cost of the biggest mystery of the show (besides Rumple’s recent actions), it makes me upset. I feel like the writers have given Regina this storyline because they didn’t want to be blamed for just letting her deal with a love triangle.
I’m just hoping we get a nice payoff from this and there still is an author. I’m all for Regina gaining a moral lesson (which is important, even if it kind of felt resolved back in 3×11), but the fact remains: an author was promised.

I am inclined to agree. It saddens me because I really wanted there to be an author.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 17, 2014 at 11:00 am #290465amyfiiParticipantI’m kind of excited… I’ve thought from the beginning of this season that there is no author and the book is somehow controlled my Regina’s own feelings and choices. She doesn’t truly believe that she can have a happy ending so she won’t have one until she accepts that she deserves/can have one. She’s soo soo negative so of course her story is unhappy. I don’t really like the idea that someone is pulling the strings on the whole story somehow. It would be hard to come up with a satisfying person for that role I think. I like the idea that all the characters control their own destiny somehow. Snow and Charming always have positivity and hope so that’s how their story flows. Regina is always negative and that’s how her story flows because her choices indicate what she truly thinks about herself. It would be nice to see her turn that around for HERSELF instead of trying to be good for other people. She needs to do what Emma just did and accept herself and truly be happy or else her choices will keep going in the direction of what she truly thinks of herself which right now is that she’s a villain and villains don’t get happy endings.
Anyway.. just my two cents ! I totally respect that you guys would like there to be a real author though. I guess I just personally see lots of room for disappointment in that angle.
November 17, 2014 at 11:15 am #290471SirMedrautParticipantI always wanted there to be a definite author, but with the way the show suddenly started handling the book as some magical word-of-God tome with the ability to grant or take away happy endings because “what happens in it appears immutable” (which, y’know, kinda duh since it’s all in the past and barring time-travelling curses you can’t change it.) I’d almost prefer there wasn’t. Not a fan of the idea of some puppetmaster pulling the strings or somehow having an influence on their future when the book only holds the past. While I’ve been eagerly waiting four seasons for them to tackle the who-wrote-the-book mystery, I do wish there was a bit more logic as to why everyone thinks THE BOOK ITSELF or the author is so responsible for Regina’s happiness as opposed to just being essentially a history book that happens to be about the denizens of Storybrooke because I feel like I’m way less convinced than the characters are.
