I don’t really like the idea that someone is pulling the strings on the whole story somehow.
Nor do I. But the lesson that “we all write our own story” is different to a physically manifested book that tells the story. Each of us, in the real world, we (for the most part) write our own stories, don’t have a puppet master pulling all our strings and forcing us into acting certain ways. But a person’s story doesn’t get turned into a book unless an author actually creates a book about it. So it’s fine if they want to go with this self-authoring moral, that makes perfect sense. But when it comes to the actual physical thing that is the Book, they should have a separate explanation for how it was created and by who.
[adrotate group="5"]November 17, 2014 at 11:40 am #290478RumplesGirlKeymasterMy problem with there being no author is that it feels like the easy solution: can’t think of a good enough answer to the burning question “who wrote the book?” then NO ONE wrote it!
And with this all powerful sorcerer lurking about who has inside knowledge into events, it doesnt make sense for there NOT to be a puppet master at this point

Oooo interesting. So you’re saying there could be someone who created the physical book, but they don’t have any influence over the content? I hadn’t thought about the origin of the actual physical book but now that’s interesting to me.

There had better be an explanation for who created the spell behind the magical book. I’m not sure there is an actual author of the stories contained therein, since I do like the idea that each person creates his or her own destiny. However, my money is still on the Blue Fairy or the sorcerer (sorceress?) being the one behind the creation of the physical book itself. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Glinda even had a hand in the book, since she seems to be the record keeper of events past, present and future in Oz; yet even Glinda said to Zelena that she had her own power to choose her own destiny.
As for the alternate page 23 (which I think is a nod to D23, the “official” Disney Fan Club), I think Regina may be tempted to add it into the book itself. But that would create a huge moral dilemma for her, since if Regina had walked into that bar that night, then Emma never would’ve come to our world, met Neal, and had Henry. And I don’t think Regina would ever choose an alternate history with Robin at the cost of not having Henry. Regina after all said she didn’t have any past regrets since everything she did got her Henry.

On another note, the book is still missing the page at the end that Emma and Henry tore out of it at the beginning of season 1, right? Kind of silly for Regina to want to change the book when she doesn’t know how it ends.

Crack theory: Blue = Sorceress (the hat is blue and covered in stars after all)

Maybe, but more likely to be a LOST reference I’d say, they love using the LOST numbers in this show and 23 is one of them.

Yeah that is where I am leaning right now. #SneakyFairy until the end!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 18, 2014 at 10:08 am #290676CindersParticipantIs it a coincidence that Will spent the night in the library and was the found with a torn page from a book? Also, he did glance at the table behind Robin as Robin was searching the bookshelf.
I’m not saying he’s the author, but, he sure is quick at problem solving.
You’re searching for the identity of the Snow Queen? Let’s go to the ice cream shop. You’re searching for answers about a book? Let’s go to the library (in hindsight, the library was an obvious place to begin any search about a book. Duh!)
Will’s great at wordplay and idioms. Wouldn’t it be great if for 28 years Will took a page from other peoples books and got to live their adventures with them?
Plus, he sure has an eye for the ladies!
November 23, 2014 at 1:14 pm #291360Hook’s GirlParticipantIt would be intersting to see if the Book has pages post dark curse like the stories that have occurred in SB, stories of NL, Zelena & the missing year in EF. The Book doesn’t appear to be getting any thicker though.
The alternate page was probably just placed in Robin’s satchel by magic (plot device).
