People are seriously saying that to Lana?! O.M.G…I just…WHAT IN THE ACTUAL?!
I love it because we, as the fans, can interact freely with the actors we love. But the way I see it, it’s a privilege to be able to ask them questions about stuff.
But you know what can happen if actors don’t feel welcomed on twitter? They can shut it down and leave for a very long time. Now Oncers, ask yourselves, do you want that to happen?
Well said! Twitter can be a double edged sword. I think it makes some people feel entitled to a certain relationship with celebs, (not just talking about this particular fandom). If you call yourself a fan and then go tweeting abuse to the person you claim to be a fan of…well I’d hate to be your enemy if that’s how you treat people you allegedly love.
K&H were damned either way in this situation. If they’d not shut down the possibility now and just let people go on believing SQ had a shot at being canon, then they’d have inevitably got this reaction anyway when Emma ended up with a man. Maybe they should have shut it down even sooner, but then, it’s only that one section of the fandom that ever read “romance” into SQ’s relationship, and to the majority of us it just seemed to go without saying that both characters are straight, so how could anyone have realistically expected that this relationship could become canon?
Fanon is for indulging in all this stuff you imagine in relation to the show. Sometimes fanon becomes canon, more often than not it doesn’t. That doesn’t mean that you can’t still indulge in fanon. The canon reality of SQ is at the same level today as it was before CC. So while it’s undoubtedly disappointing for the shippers to have had their ship officially sunk, if they still wanna keep shipping it as fanon, writing fics, making art, then they should keep it up and use it to enhance their enjoyment of the show, rather than using their hurt over the situation to destroy the show for them and make them lash out with personal insults towards the writers and actors who have done nothing to deserve such abuse.

That again? I thought it was something else. You know, none of us know the cast personally and it is so wrong to say that we know anything about their personal lives. It’s just so sad some people can’t separate fantasy from reality.
I’m happy for Lana. I love weddings.

and get over selves? Let’s show them we can be better and generally a nice bunch of people. Be kind and respectful of your fellow Oncers.

January 20, 2014 at 5:10 pm #238903obisgirlParticipantI used to enjoy talking about theories and what not in general discussion but the reality is, I and none of my CS fellow ‘shippers can really do that anymore because we’re the minority on this site and it’s really sad.
I love the forums and I always will but the environment around here, it’s over the point now where we have to censor ourselves from saying anything to keep the status quo. It’s really uncomfortable and stifling feeling.
Before this ‘shipper stuff got out of hand, we used to have open, polite conversations and sadly, it’s not like that anymore. Articles like today, I try and comment on the stuff that isn’t ‘shippy related but all it takes, is for someone to rant about how this is being promoted and what not and it blows up.
Here’s what I propose, instead of shutting down theories from the opposite side, take a step, let us voice our opinion. This is an open forum and quite frankly, it hasn’t felt very open lately.
And can we all just remember, this is just a show and we’re not the ones who write it. Adam and Eddie and their staff of writers do, and they are going to write it how they want to because this is their fanfiction.

totally agree great post Obisgirl 🙂
January 20, 2014 at 5:40 pm #238925RumplesGirlKeymasterWhile I understand what you’re saying and I agree–I want to point out that the SFers feel the same way. I feel like I can’t voice some theories or have to be super careful about it because I don’t want to start a shipping thing.
It doesn’t feel open anymore, but nothing in this fandom feels open anymore. We were the last vestiage of sanity and it’s gone. People retreat to their shipping threads for everything because we’re scared to talk about theories in non-ship threads.
It’s everyone and it’s everywhere.

you’ve met me. You know that’s what I want. That’s what I want more than anything. But there is no solution. I have ZERO ideas. We can’t get rid of shipping, we can’t covert people to our ship, and trying to not talk about it only leads to talking about it.
It’s a lose lose and I have no ideas.
