Also, the Rumple/Bae conversation back at their hut after Rumple magicked him out of there. I’ve known him since I was young etc etc.

Yeah I really wanna know this too. In my head canon Mama Stiltskin is dead and died in childbirth, giving birth to Rumple. His father became a cruel man who hated Rumple and loved Peter. Peter tried to protect Rumple from their father but failed and eventually left home, leaving Rumple behind. Peter went to NL where he became the boy we know today.

On the name thing I teach a student who is an identical twin. He is called Glenn and his brother is Wolfgang. He hates that he has the normal name so I call him Glenn CoCo.

Sounds all good, except that the bolded part sounds very Tyrion + Tywin Lannister. It wouldn’t explain why Peter hates Rumple so much. What would explain it…. if Rumple was the golden child despite “causing” his mother’s death and Pan was shoved aside….
In Barrie’s original book, Pan flew off with the fairies at random, and only stopped visiting his mother when he was “replaced” (and barred out of the windows) by a new baby. Tweaking that to be the OUaT universe Dark Pan, Peter ran off when he was “replaced” in a parental figure’s love* by baby Rumple. Older siblings beating up younger siblings from jealousy isn’t out of the ordinary.
* maybe his mother’s love? Maybe Papa Stiltskin was absent/generally hopeless and both boys clung to Mum?

Definitely think they are brothers now. Why else would Peter know all that information unless little Rumple told him about his childhood in Neverland. If Rumple did go to Neverland, I wonder how he got off the island.
I’m hoping that the Rumpelstiltskin was a nickname from the spinsters.
Also, can’t wait to see Rumple’s father and maybe Peter’s father too. Still hoping that we will see Rumple’s mother in the future.

Theory 1: Peter was taken in by the Stiltskins. For some reason, I believe that Peter might not be Rumpel’s BIOLOGICAL brother. Perhaps Mamastiltskin died and Peter was an orphan that was taken in by Papastilskin to help around the house. Peter feels as at home as he ever has, but is still jarred by the fact that he would never be Papa’s real son. I say this because Rumpel’s dad doesn’t seem like he would have loved or respected Rumpel outwardly to cause jealousy in anyone. So maybe the jealousy and hatred came from somewhere else.
It could be that in a moment where Peter tries to hurt or ridicule Rumpel, Papa stands up for his son and punishes Peter, (possibly even kicks him out) which causes him to realize that, despite gaining favor from the father, he would never have that familial bond and was therefore still an orphan. So he runs away to Neverland.
There could also be a similar scenario wherein Rumpel’s mother is involved, and Peter vies for attention from her. *shrugs* We could go all A.I. and Peter would be like David. XD
Theory 2: Rumpel and Peter grew up together in the home of the Spinsters.
I believe that the Spinsters could have possibly taken on multiple orphans at once and Peter and Rumpel were simply there at the same time. Rumpel looks up to Peter and Peter, in turn, ruins Rumpel’s life in every way possible because [insert the hundreds of possible reasons why].
