Here’s my theory:
PP knew Rumple as a boy. PP was abandoned and was friends with Rumple. When Rumple was abandoned by his father PP suggested they run away together to Neverland ( a place he heard the fairies talking about). Rumple goes, then Pan turns evil so Rumple wants to leave and PP lets him. Meanwhile Rumple’s father father’s Killian Jones. Pan gets Killian as a child and finds out that he has the same dad as Rumple. And now, only Pan knows Hooks and Rumple are half brothers.

October 21, 2013 at 12:48 am #217606RumplesGirlKeymasterSomething else I noticed during my rewatch:
At one point PP makes a joke about a little guessing game. Rumple’s traditional story is all about guessing games.

That will partially ex[lain why Rumple is so convinced fairies are evil.

Oh fine, I’m raising my hand. As much as I’ve been unsure of this theory, it seems to be true. My primary reason for resisting was I thought Henry’s family tree was convulted enough, but after a certain point, why bother resisting? Why NOT make Peter Pan the frozen-in-time great-uncle of Henry?

October 21, 2013 at 2:14 pm #217768thelonebamfParticipantschandlich, I’m with you. While I can’t deny there is very likely a “brotherly” connection between the two- I don’t think they are biological brothers. With all the wars and conflict between kingdoms, it’s not impossible for an orphan from another country (different style of name and accent) to have ended up in the home of a kindly couple who had not (yet) had a son of their own.
We have so many blood ties in this show, I think we’re due for another step-family connection.

No, not unless PP offers Rumple a deal: Neal’s life in exchange for Henry’s. PP is sly, and Rumple so far can’t resist making deals.

October 21, 2013 at 4:54 pm #217817darkones1fanParticipantI was thinking Pan would make a deal to protect Rumple…especially if my theory of Rumple being the cowardly little brother as a boy and Pan being the protecting older brother. Because for some reason I want Rumple to be the younger brother to Pan. So if this whole brothers theory plays through which I hope it does, Pan will once again be protecting Rumple but this time from Henry who’s is said to be Rumple’s “Undoing.”.
October 21, 2013 at 7:59 pm #217877BelleOfTheBallParticipantRaise your hand if you believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rumple and PP are brothers. Cause yes. After tonight…our headcanon is totally on.
*Raises hand and waves around frantically*
I’ve been curious about this theory since I read some different points of view on it, and it was on my mind while watching the whole episode tonight and I just couldn’t deny the brotherhood feels. The amount of clues tonight to their relationship was kind of overwhelming.
I like Peter being Mamastiltskins’d first child and running away to Neverland just like in the original story. When baby rumple came along and Peter was forgotten, the jealousy must have driven him crazy. Perhaps he originally parted with his shadow so it could follow Rumple around – kind of report on the life Peter should have had? Probably not but I am trying to think of a different use for the shadow than just taking boys from their homes.
Yup! So brother! On the name thing I teach a student who is an identical twin. He is called Glenn and his brother is Wolfgang. He hates that he has the normal name so I call him Glenn CoCo.
A+++ FOR YOU. Please tell me when he answers a question in class you respond with “You go Glenn CoCo”
