Surely the red bird has to be Iago. Though it’s a bit odd that he’s the pet of the Oracle.
I fear that this whole business with Aladdin’s Saviour story will end up feeling convoluted and shoehorned in. And whatever they do with Jafar just won’t jive with his story from WL, and the whole thing will annoy me on principle.

Oh, I think the Oracle is Jafar. The way the eyes glowed red…total Snake move.
Matt just brought this up: remember what he did to Amara in WL? He turned her into the snake! So maybe the Oracle is really the bird staff and I’m pretty sure Jafar is impersonating the Oracle.

The red bird has to be Iago. They wouldn’t just have a random girl pop up in the forest. And if this is true, then is Hyde working with Jafar? He’s the one who told Emma what to do. What is Hyde’s true motivation? And what is Jafar’s? Does that mean what the Oracle is showing Emma is a lie? And if it is, what does Jafar gain from showing Emma this? All interesting questions. But like come on, a red bird? A random girl in the woods? It’s too easy. It has to be Jafar and Iago.
And yes, A&E have said now that it is the same Jafar from Wonderland. Which means they will have to be very careful with how they handle his backstory, if we get one.

That makes a lot of sense, and would provide and nice, neat way for them to connect the Aladdin and Emma stories up at some point.

I hadn’t really thought it through, except that OUAT is weighted that way, but now I’m thinking Aladdin is the young prince. Give him a backstory like Moses, plus a few years to grow up from the self-centered boy we saw on Wonderland, and he can be a social justice crusader with anger-control issues just like Moses.

Perhaps Hyde or somebody else found his bottle? Hyde being the one to release him would make sense, if he intentionally led Emma to the Oracle knowing that she was really Jafar.

Maybe Jafar’s bottle got transported to the Land of Untold Stories after WL. But the problem is if the Jafar/Aladdin story is after WL, how did Jafar get out of the Land of Untold Stories?

Seems like an easy answer. Hyde brought him, when he brought over the rest of the Land of Untold Stories’ residents to Storybrooke. If you’re referring to the Jafar/Aladdin flashback, that was established to take place “many years ago”. So probably after Jafar turned Amara into the snake staff, but before he went to Wonderland. There is plenty of room for gaps in his story. We don’t know how soon he tracked down Cyrus’ owner in Agrabah, nor do we know how soon he found out Cyrus was sent to Wonderland. Not to mention, we don’t even know if Jafar traveled back and forth between the two worlds.

I blocked the many years ago from my memory apparently. Whoops.
