Definitely a very strong Season opener! So many great jokes, character moments, and of course the songs! My favorite song is probably a tie between “A New Season” and “Off with His Shirt.” I did enjoy “The World’s Best Kiss” and “Let’s Agree to Disagree” a lot, too. The best character moments were definitely the stuff with Gal and Richard. Those two have amazing chemistry, and I could watch them all day. That’s not to say Isabella, Chef, Sid, Gareth, and Madalena weren’t a ton of fun, cause they sure were!
Of course as a OUAT viewer, certain things were particularly amusing. The Enchanted Forest gay bar run by the Evil Queen, Chef pointing out the plot inconsistencies when Isabella talks about her amulet, and Richard pulling out a sword in the same fashion as Excalibur. I couldn’t help but imagine Chef representing how we feel whenever we notice plot holes on OUAT. This show is very self aware, which is great!

I have to admit I noticed these things, too, and for a show that’s so self-aware and mocks everything, including itself, I felt this was a jab at its time slot sharer.
I hope the ratings are good. It was a really strong beginning of season two and it feels like it just got stronger in the year it was off. Let’s keep them coming.

January 5, 2016 at 12:14 am #314674PheeParticipantKnew I was excited for this show to come back, but I was caught unawares by how many times my heart just wanted to burst right outta my chest. OMG I ADORE THESE CHARACTERS!
My love for Richard knows no bounds. From him telling them to bring the ship ashore with such confidence, then seeing it smashed. His are-we-there-yet style complaining with all the walking. His sadness over Gareth. Him and unicorn. OMG HIM WITH THE UNICORN. He is such a precious bumbling cupcake with such a big heart, and when they showed that plaque on the stump that the sword had been in I wanted to do cartwheels!!!
The writing on this show is so quick and clever and witty. And they poke fun at themselves with things like the plot inconsistency of the magical McGuffin had me rolling! LOLOLOLOL
Gotta love that they took the modern thing about Sykpe calls with buffering video and used it in this medieval setting to create drama and humour.
I just thouroughly enjoy every moment of watching this show, and that’s a beautiful feeling to have about a show.
“tossing him to the bear…” omg.
OMG the gay bar. @Phee, a page back:In which Glavant establishes the EF’s LGBT community in their second season, putting OUAT to shame once again. *
It was the West Hollow-wood location in the synopsis that was the give away, because West Hollywood is a reknowned gay neighbourhood in LA. The promo pics of Kylie performing there was confirmation of it. Most people in here probably have no idea who Kylie Minogue is, but she’s pretty much the queen of Aussie pop music, (has a massive following in the UK too, I think she’s a big deal pretty much everywhere but the US), and she’s got a huge fanbase with the LGBT community. Basically, perfect casting was perfect.

Well, it was mentioned in TVLine’s recent interview that they’re trying to get the show picked up in the UK, and it looks like Season 2 has plenty of guest stars that UK audiences would be more familiar with compared to the US:
TVLINE | What otherGalavant Season 2 Preview guest stars can we look forward to?
We ended up casting some incredible UK talent that I’m not sure if all of America will be familiar with, but you’ll probably recognize them. [Aussie pop star] Kylie Minogue is in the first episode [playing a gay bar’s chanteuse], we have John Stamos making a quick cameo [as Sir John Hamm], Hugh Bonneville is back [as a pirate captain], we have Simon Callow (A Room With a View) as a psychic, Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) plays a giant…. Robert Lindsay (G.B.H.) is a big deal over in the UK….
TVLINE | Well, now you’re just pandering to international sales.
We’re trying to get sold in England! Pretty much everybody that had more than five lines was someone pretty well-known in the UK for comedy or drama.
