Yeah, 309 Regina flashback before adopting Henry makes the most sense IMO.
Haven’t ever thought too much about the infertility theory, but I guess perhaps baby making is why she enslaved Graham, (she did try to get Hansel and Gretel to stay with her, so it seems she wanted a child), so she didn’t use any form of birth control, but still didn’t end up pregnant. Getting pregnant in SB during the Curse was impossible for everyone.
Then the next question I have, if she is infertile, was that just a natural happenstance, or was it part of the overall Curse/prophecy thing? Because if she’d had a child of her own in FTL, she may not have felt so unfulfilled and angry. She may have gotten over the Snow hate if she’d channeled all that passion into loving a child instead. And if she already had a kid, then she wouldn’t have looked into adopting, and she had to look into adopting so that Henry could be brought to SB. So it’s sort of necessary for her to have been childless. Maybe it was her fate to be infertile that’s what sealed the deal of her being the one who was fated to cast the Curse. Or maybe someone cursed her to be infertile to serve the purposes of the Curse.
[adrotate group="5"]September 23, 2013 at 11:14 pm #211739RumplesGirlKeymasterDid Regina keep herself from getting pregnant in FTL? Maybe it’s a pretty basic potion and she was using it keep herself childless because she didn’t love Leopold at all. Then when she got to SB, the Curse prevented her from getting pregnant because time stood still.
But it does work out rather nicely for PP and gang, doesn’t it? Which makes me wonder if they had some sort of hand in her barrenness.

If she wanted to prevent getting pregnant with either Leopold or Graham, I’m sure she could have easily arranged that. Modern world contraception isn’t the only form of birth control there’s ever been, so I’m sure they had condoms of some description in FTL, but even if not, Regina could have magiced herself up some contraception.

Maybe by the H and G incident she was already too far gone into the Evil Queen mode. It took Owen and realizing that she wanted a real new life for all to click. She does tell Kurt, “what’s the point of a fresh start if you have no one to share it with?” So with H and G, she realized that maybe she does want kids or a family, but she wants it HER way, for them to forsake their father. Then when they reject her, she moves further into the EQ mode. Then Owen happens and that old desire is awakened, but this time she’s screwed because of the Curse.

Good point. Regina clearly wanted children even in the EF, or else she wouldn’t have invited Hansel and Gretel to live with her in the palace. I vote that she wasn’t using birth control in the EF because as Phee suggested, maybe she was trying with Graham (maybe after striking out with Leo) for a baby of her own. Regina might have wanted a baby for the simple reason that she was lonely.
Getting pregnant in SB during the Curse was impossible for everyone.
Do we know this as a fact? Regina wasn’t cursed, and as such, she could have potentially gotten pregnant despite the fact that time stood still. Maybe she didn’t know if it was her or the curse causing her infertility.

I vote for Regina having been cursed to be barren the same way that King George poisoned Snow to be barren in “Lady of the Lake.” Maybe it was all part of either Peter Pan’s or Rumple’s master plan. He needed Regina to not get pregnant in the EF, else she might not see SB as her happy ending (a baby might’ve diverted her plans for revenge). Also, Rumple might’ve foreseen that the way Emma would break the curse at age 28 would be maternal love for Henry. And the only way to get the savior to SB was for Regina to be barren and therefore need to adopt Henry.

I don’t know. I’m trying to rationalize that in my head. Time stood still for her personally, she didn’t age. And I think that means that no life can grow inside you.

What if THAT’s what Tink did???
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 24, 2013 at 12:14 am #211744PheeParticipantIf pregnant Cinderella stayed in a perpetual state of about-to-pop pregnancy for 28 years, that means that babies in utero couldn’t grow. Everyone was stuck biologically in the same state they were in when the curse hit, which means that menstrual cycles weren’t a thing, therefore, no one could get pregnant.

And we thought Blue was a Sneaky Fairy!
September 24, 2013 at 4:43 am #211751kfchimeraParticipantI think its unlikely a baby could grow as Regina’s body was stuck in time, but Cinderella’s baby was not “from” the Land Without Magic like Henry, so not sure about that. Baby Henry grew up, so is it just that Henry could grow during the curse because he is special and Henry? Would Owen and Kurt have grown older had they stayed?
I like the poison curse that is out there, as I think Cora cursed George’s wife, and maybe Regina too. It could even be a tragic mistake thing, where Cora made it to curse George’s wife, but Regina had some too.
Perhaps that was what Regina wanted with a mermaid? Maybe she wanted to get some Nostos water but couldn’t get anyone to get it for her.

Yes. So the question becomes could she get pregnant before the Curse.

well that’s tragic.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 24, 2013 at 9:04 am #211759RumplesGirlKeymasterSo I’ve had a night to think about this and while I do think this is a 309 adoption of Henry hint, there is one other possibility that occurred to me last night:
Emma in a flashback. Obviously the first half of this season is all about Henry: his birth, his adoption, his life, saving him. We’ve also seen a Ginny daily tweet of MRJ and Josh in which MRJ is very clearly wearing his Tallahassee outfit from the hotel speech where they decide to move to Tallahassee. What if there is more to that conversation? What if they did talk about having kids some day. In my *puts on shippy goggles* head they’re talking about how nice it would be to have a family someday and Nealfire suggests Henry as a possible name. I’ve always liked the idea that Emma would have picked “Henry” as a name too.
But like I said, I really do think this is Regina. If Snow and Charming were to discuss having another baby, it wouldn’t be until after the #SaveHenry and NL arc.
