I hope you’re right Matt. I think that would help issues. Though I wish there was some sort of bridge between winter and spring (like Once:WL) was supposed to be….

Has anywhere confirmed how many eps WL is gonna have? Coz that could actually work, if they get people watching both shows at the same time, and then when Once is off for a while, they finish up the WL season, (which already has an established audience), just in time for Once to come back. Perhaps?

To be honest, though, it might not have been any smarter to premiere Wonderland on Sundays during that time period directly against all of that huge competition. Wonderland could have been slaughtered had they done that. People are saying that short reality shows will air during that time period instead, since those shows compete far better and they aren’t exactly serialized like Once and the other dramas are.

I know this season especially will be rough because there HAS to be a longer break thanks to Olympics followed by the pushed back Oscars. That’s 3 weeks right there, not counting the other award shows and winter break.
They must really believe in the spinoff and/or want it to be a longer running show or something cause it should be bridging the gap between the two.
I think if they do split the season right down the middle it’ll be for this year only because of that longer break so that they still have the finale in May (it’s a sweeps month). Otherwise I’m shocked that we might get it in half as usually 7-9 has been the first part with a mini-arc and then the rest of the season follows but if it doesn’t come back til March….ugh!
Now I have another one to get hooked on but that sounds like it should just be a fall thing meaning done before winter break which means….I don’t even know.
NBC does this a lot too where they test out new shows for half a season and then another one comes in to test out in that time slot and if both work then one gets moved. It’s why Revolution had 10 episodes this year and then disappeared til March. Not sure that’s the best way either but we’ll see. Back-to-back episodes for 3 months does sound nice it’s just…that’s such a long break on top of already long breaks!
*tries to breath* So we’d have summer…and then 11 episodes and then a longggg winter and 11 episodes but all would be back-to-back in their section at least…that’s almost 3 months with no breaks per half of the season…I guess I can try to find a way to live with that. I always knew I loved fall and spring a bit more but sheesh! Why are they doing this to me??
*goes to check rest of schedule to see what else is screwy so I can freakout properly later*

WL was supposed to have 12, but given that it’s not benched until the winter, I’m wondering if it got a full 22 episode order. It would have made sense to bridge the two halves of ONCE with a spin off. So far I can’t find anything about it.
EDIT: I just saw what Matt wrote. My main concern in the original ONCE, I really hope we can find confirmation that ABC is splitting the season. The break will kill our souls, but I think it will help the ratings.

I know it sounds horrendous, three months without ONCE twice a year, but the hiatuses really did some damage.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 14, 2013 at 5:04 pm #194259MatthewPaulModeratorIf we really do get 12 new episodes in a row, well we’ll probably at least have one week off for the American Music Awards in November as usual, then that would be 3 more episodes in the Fall than last year. Honestly, I am all for a longer hiatus if it really helps out with the ratings.
May 14, 2013 at 5:07 pm #194260MatthewPaulModeratorJust found the source for ABC saying how they will schedule Once this Season. It was stated by Paul Lee, the President of ABC himself:
ABC is changing things up in scheduling some of its serialized dramas. The network will air what ABC president Paul Lee called “a selected group” of dramas in two uninterrupted runs, one in the fall and one in the spring, bridged by limited series. The series that will be included in the new scheduling model include Once Upon A Time, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and likely Revenge, with others TBD. So far, the network only has set up a bridge series for Once, new adventure reality series The Quest. Lee said such bridge series won’t necessarily be all unscripted. Two cycles of 12 episodes would bring the total orders for the shows to 24, which is hard on a complex, serialized drama, but Lee indicated that number has not been set in stone. He said that the network is looking to further shake up the traditional scheduling model with “quality launches” throughout the season.

They could make it so that the finale three episodes of the first half of the season (which will probably be big ones and work together) came right after the Music Awards.
Yes, if the longer hiatus gets us out of the 7mil/week slump we’re in, I’m ok with it. I don’t expect Once to ever be in the 12 million live viewing range again, but we could be getting 9mil/week if some changes in scheduling were made combined with more concise storytelling.

Wow. NICE FIND. Ok, so 12 epis in the fall with a long break and then 12 epis in the spring. I wonder if H and K will write 24 episodes in stead of 22.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 14, 2013 at 5:14 pm #194264MatthewPaulModeratorThat confused me too. I don’t think ABC ever specified how many episodes they ordered for Season 3, so it really could be 24 episodes instead of 22…
May 14, 2013 at 5:16 pm #194265MysteryKat25ParticipantWell that’s…interesting. Good for confirmation though on the uninterrupted runs for each section of it. Like I said it’s a good year to test out the mini-whatevers over break with the Olympics chewing up a lot of attention and I’m all for no breaks. Gonna be a longgg winter though.
So far my viewing schedule doesn’t look too horrendous but I’m waiting on a couple more networks to add their shows and then it’ll probably get crazy but we’ll see. A little bummed that Revenge is still after us cause a) I want to listen to the live podcast so I don’t really help the other show at all since I’m not watching right then and b) they got the 2 hour finale last year and will probably continue to get preference in that slot on finale night if they’re the same night (I don’t see them pushing revenge back an hr to give us a 2 hr finale though I could be wrong). Was kinda hoping after Desperate Housewives had their 2 hr series finale that was over with but since the 10 pm shows keep bombing they go ahead and give the 9 pm show a 2 hr finale (not that I blame them and it’s a good show but…when it’s our turn??)
Kinda sad that the number 24 isn’t set in stone, was hoping it automatically meant 2 extra episodes for our longer wait but maybe that would be a consolation prize if it works out that way! Depends on what they want to do this season but it would also give them 80+ extra minutes to play with, though not in any one episode’s storyline but it could help the end of the season not feel quite so…rushed.
*repeats over and over to convince self: this could be good, this could be good, this could be good*
