Emilie de Ravin’s Belle has been working to save her true love, Rumplestiltskin, on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.”
“As you can see, even in the first episode from his clothing, he’s getting darker and she’s trying to sort of say, ‘Look, you don’t need to do that.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die anyway. What’s it matter? This is the only way,” Emilie said when ABC flew AccessHollywood.com up to the show’s Vancouver set, where they made us their guest as the actors chatted with reporters. “She’s trying to basically [say], ‘You don’t have to do it like this,’ bringing out the best as she usually tries to do. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
“But no, it’s really fun,” Emilie continued of the latest version of her character. “She pops up quite a lot there… It’s more of an ethereal version, because she’s obviously in Storybrooke as well.”
Emilie said fans of the Sunday night drama will get to know more about the version of Belle that has been appearing in Neverland sometime before Episode 8.
“I think people will be really sort of interested and shocked at the reveal of actually what kind of Belle that is, further on, down the road,” she said.
Belle also exists in Storybrooke, and audiences will get to see more of her in the town the coming weeks.
“We’ve only just started exploring that,” Emilie told reporters. “So her, with her cloaking spell, [she’s] really desperately trying to, first of all, inform everyone of what’s going on and what’s happened with Henry and she’s obviously the only one left from that group that can tell the dwarves, Mother Superior, etc., so she’s got a lot of responsibility to try and get that spell up as soon as possible and just sort of be the mother in a way. It’s kind of cool.”
Belle will also interact with Ariel (Joanna Garcia Swisher) in an upcoming episode.
“She also becomes friends with, possibly, a little redheaded mermaid, which has been really fun,” Emilie said. “That’s been some cool scenes.”[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 21, 2013 at 4:34 pm #217809rumbelledearieParticipant“I think people will be really sort of interested and shocked at the reveal of actually what kind of Belle that is, further on, down the road,” she said.
Hm, so the Belle we’ve been seeing might be more than just Rumple’s conscience/vision then? Interesting. I really want to know if she’s aware of the talks they’ve been having or if it’s solely in Rumple’s head.

Yeah I’m starting to think that part of this conscience really IS Belle. If some part of her really is going to NL. We know that she and Ariel meet in 306 and that the episode in the present take place at the same time as 301. What if Ariel somehow helps Belle to reach Rumple?

Sorry, I just couldn’t resist. It is interesting what version of Belle this is actually going to be. I’ve finally convinced myself that “Vision Belle” is truly only a figment of Rumple’s imagination. I wonder what is really going on. This is going to drive me nuts.

It’s sad, because she has so much potential to be more than just a woman who sits back at home and waits for her love to return (a la Penelope and Odysseus). Watching 3×4 was also a punch in the stomach for Rumbelle since Rumple basically said Bae, not Belle, was his happy ending. 🙁

"Because... it was born out of true love."October 21, 2013 at 5:40 pm #217829PriceofMagicParticipantI think Rumple had a bit of tunnel vision when he made the happy ending comment. Bae, who he’d spent years searching for, who he’d believed dead, was suddenly in front of him alive and accusing him of caring about power more than his family. Rumple was on the defensive.

I agree. Bae has been his focus for 300 years. And then he lost him all over again and his Bae-vision went into overdrive. I think Rumple’s mind if Bae isn’t there, it’s not a happy ending.
I still think that Belle is part of Rumple’s happy ending whether he says so or not.
Absolutely. 100% agree. I think Rumple needs to see the Real Belle, probably when he’s hit rock bottom and is really regretting his actions.

The Ariel/Belle scenes are going to be present day Storybrooke but we’re also going to see what happened in Storybrooke during the days after the JR went through the portal. Rumple sending vision Belle away is him wanting to deal with his pain at Bae’s betrayal in private. Rumple has always feared Bae would leave him and now his fear has come true. Rumple wants space to deal with that and Belle is giving it to him.
