It’s too soon to get a decent impression on him. The first episode is centric on Elizabeth Lail’s character. He’s only featured in a few of the present day scenes and mostly in the background.

Someone clear this up for me: is the first episode “Like a Prayer” or “Patience” because I keep seeing different ones. SpoilerTV has it as the former, but IMDB has it as the latter.

Patience. Could I just ask where on Spoilertv does it say “Like a Prayer”? I just had a look to try and get it fixed but I can’t find it anywhere. 🙂

Thanks! See, now that I’ve asked I can’t find it. Is there an episode even called Like a Prayer? I could have sworn I was looking at Promo Photos for the first episode and it was called that. Now it’s a mystery lol. But thanks for clearing it up

I think what happened was the Pilot got renamed, for whatever reason.

Honestly, I think I’d need to watch a few more episodes to really digest how I feel, but I’m intrigued enough to watch more episodes. The mystery of the camp is enough to draw my interest, but I need to get to know more of the other characters. Naturally Amy was the focus of the first episode, but I expect others will get their own centrics as the show goes on. I’m most interested to learn more about Drew, Zelda Williams’ character, who appears to be trans. I also enjoy all of the 80s nods, including the use of music. Overall, the show seems alright, but it isn’t groundbreaking either.

Yes, Drew seems the most interesting out of a pack of fairly opaque cast of characters. They are pretty ill defined in this first outing, though there are so many that it’s not surprising.

Overall, I thought this episode was….pretty cliche. Almost to the point of bad. Summer TV isn’t supposed to be anything great, just a way to stave off boredom for those who don’t want to watch reality TV. Thus it’s overly melodramatic feel. You have to create an event to get people to tune in and be willing to spend the summer watching your show. DoS built an interesting enough story (though it seems terribly predictable)  to warrant more viewings but there’s a lack of magic (like the Pilot of OUAT had) that makes me uber excited to see the next episode.

However, it’s is rather meta to see Elizabeth Lail and Elizabeth Mitchell on screen together again.

For those interested in such things, the ratings for the series premiere weren’t great (ok, that’s sort of mild).

    Eyeballs: .63 million

    Demo: .2

It had the best possible spot with Pretty Little Liars–the show holding Freeform together with its ratings for the network–didn’t help at all. PLL got a .6 with 1.24 million eyeballs. That’s a pretty nasty drop given how much promotion went into DoS.
(as a side note, Freeform seems to be in a free for all…)
