ParticipantThis is another tweet that came out of his most recent session…
@BevynBauer we love to listen to fans! But the truth is, by the time they react to an episode, we're 10 episodes ahead in production

So basically, people need to chill with their angry @ replies to him, because it’s not gonna change the story they’ve already got planned out. Pre-judging and ranting won’t achieve anything except making you look like a fool.BTW, that person who was the worst offender, spam tweeting Adam, they’ve now deleted all their tweets.

Participant@mattyandjenna if he did, terrible things would've happened.

That’s a curious statement. Makes me what what ‘terrible things’ Adam is referring to if Neal had stayed.

Agreed. There was no magic so couldn’t be magical consequences…. maybe he means that without Emma having Henry, giving him up for adoption.. all the events leading up to Emma’s TLK wouldn’t have happened, therefore the curse wouldn’t have been broken. Maybe.

Keymaster*gestures over to Swanfire thread* The past two pages, we’ve been talking about this exact tweet if you wanna know our take on it.

ParticipantSince Rumple woke up when Emma said her name, I can imagine Rumple would have been trying to push for a reunion with Bae, had Neal been with Emma in Storybrooke. This would have likely freaked Emma out, who would have wanted to leave Storybrooke as soon as possible, meaning that not only would Henry be left with Regina but that the curse would never have been broken. Rumple wouldn’t care about anyone else not getting their memories back because he would’ve had Bae. Belle would’ve been left in the hospital basement with no identity, RumBelle wouldn’t have got the chance to reunite, everything that happened in Storybrooke during season 1 and 2 because of Emma never would have happened.
Whilst Neal leaving Emma wasn’t a pleasant experience for either of them, for everybody in Storybrooke, it was the best thing he could have done.

ParticipantThat’s more or less what I wrote about in the SF thread. I’ll copy the relevant bits over here. I prefaced this by saying I definitely understand why people didn’t interpret August’s “steer clear” as some sign of doom, but then I said, here’s what we know could have happened if Bae had been with Emma when she walked into town, shipping aside:
1) Her name triggered Gold’s memories of being Rumple the moment he heard it, no waiting for the curse to break
2)Regina rolled out the unwelcome mat for strangers, used Graham like a robot, and repaid a boy’s kindness with trying to kidnap him and kill his father.
3)It took Henry dying for Emma to break the curse with her TLK. She believed in the curse before that point and it wasn’t enough.
4) the prophecy that Gold had about a boy leading him to his son but being his undoing, and his vow to kill the boy before that happenedSo take your pick of terrible things–Gold turning the clock on Bae, letting Emma and Henry die at the hands of crazy Regina? The curse broke either way if Emma died, and with Bae there what reason did Gold have to care? Without Belle, without knowing she was alive, it could have been a shocking moment like mute maid and Milah all over again. I could see this alternate universe Rumple saying as he turns Bae to 14 and wipes his memory, “I know you love her and the boy but you won’t remember them in a minute and it will all be just like it was before”.
I also added that we can imagine things working out too, but now that Adam’s confirmed that terrible things would have happened, we don’t need to worry about the “what might have been” –this is just for those who could not even begin to imagine anything terrible happening.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

I wrote my reply before I read the SwanFire thread and found out that you had written something very similar before me. Great minds think alike.

ParticipantSaw a post on tumblr earlier that suggested they should do an AU ep showing how everything would have played out differently and more terribly.
