@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar that was a mistake and I'll cop to it. There was a miscommunication between production and writers.

@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar The baby should've been Alexandra. And going forward we intend to make it Alexandra.

@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar I'll admit to mistakes, but those things are things we plan and account for (the trains, how magic works, etc)

@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar sometmes answers are readily apparent, sometimes they come later.sometimes we think we're explaining and its not clear

    — Adam Horowitz (@AdamHorowitzLA) March 19, 2015

@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar yes, we got the wrong aged baby and wrong sex. It was a mistake, baby shoulda been around 1 1/2

    — Adam Horowitz (@AdamHorowitzLA) March 19, 2015

@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar don't quote me — cause I don't have exact timeline in front of me… but Alexandra was born Fall '11ish.

    — Adam Horowitz (@AdamHorowitzLA) March 19, 2015

@Magnusxxn @rapid_rar and that ep took place in first half of 2013

So, it was like I said before. It wasn’t a writing error, as no dialogue suggested the baby was a boy. “Alex” is short for both Alexandra and Alexander. So it was a miscommunication with the production staff, and they got the wrong type of baby. At least he was coming clean with a mistake this time around.

Alex was born Fall of 2011-ish? Where is @Keb! We’ve got timeline information!

And no one caught it before it aired? Like…there are people who are actually in charge of continuity in TV shows.

Those would probably be interns. Kalinda Vazquez tweeted not too long ago how they have an “assistant” keep track of the continuity and timeline. If that’s the case, perhaps they clearly need someone more suited for the task. In all seriousness, TV and film production is insane. Especially for a TV show with this tight of a production schedule. Even if they did catch the mistake before it aired, it was likely too little too late to re-film the entire scene. That would require getting all the actors back (including both Jessy Schram and Sarah Bolger), and trying to squeeze it in when they’re already busy filming the rest of the episodes.

As for how this happened in the first place, my guess is the production team saw “Alex” in the script, and assumed the baby was a boy, even though it was short for “Alexandra.” None of the dialogue other than the unisex nickname suggested the baby was a boy.

Point is, mistakes happen. Even in a professional setting, unfortunately. As I said before, I appreciate that Adam at least admitted that a mistake happened, instead of coming up with a “No, actually” cover up answer or ignoring it all together. Not that I defend said mistake from happening in the first place.

As Daniel and I have said many time on the podcast already, ABC…call me. We’ll do lunch.

No trust me I get all that

I know that too. A mistake happening is fine and I commend Adam for admitting it. But it does suggest that there needs to be some more careful reading and communication. I’m glad they are being accountable but once is a mistake, twice is a pattern, and three is sheer carelessness. And I don’t care what Adam says..that train makes no bleeding sense (EVERYONE thought it was strange. Including the reviewers!)

Why weren’t the mistakes caught in the dailies? In the editing? In a show that relies on world-building and intricate timelines and plots putting that responsiblity on an intern is not acceptable. It runs through various hands and not one person knows their own show they’re working on? These people get paid very well at what they do. I expect more.

Alexandra was born the last week of October 2011. On my timeline, I have her born Oct. 28, 2011. She would have been a week younger than Emma if not for the curse.

THIS MAKES ME SO EXCITED!!!!! I KNEW it had to be a mistake.

Seriously, they need to fire whoever keeps missing glaringly huge discontinuities.

Those crazy interns, lol. I seriously shouldn’t laugh because my first job out of college was as an intern, but these interns over at ABC are seriously the most inept bunch ever.  But the stuff that they do, makes for good comedy.

I was just browsing through my ouat crack tag on my tumblr and came across this old gem.
