Could it perhaps be a Neal episode showing what he did in the eleven years between leaving Emma and seeing her again in Manhattan. Adam did say that if Neal had stayed with Emma, “Terrible things would’ve happened”.
What if this is for episode 12? What if Neal is given the chance by somebody to change the biggest mistake of his life (abandoning Emma) and episode 12 shows what would’ve happened.

So I think for this, it just means PRESENT DAY (wherever they are).

Honestly? I am going to propose that Adam is being a troll. The fact that we get whole words and it’s about “terribleness” makes me think that Adam is teasing us.

The words “terribleness” seems odd to me. In the Oz books, Oz is called The Great and Terrible rather than great and powerful (which was used in the 1939 film and Disney film)
