I’m a long time PnP RPG player and I couldn’t help but to draw a parallel between the rescue party sans Gold (right after Emma declared herself  leader) and a traditional fantasy RPG party. Members and roles are as follows:

    Leader-Emma

    Warrior-Charming

    Archer-Snow

    Wizard-Regina

    Rouge-Hook

The only role they are missing is that of the Healer (perhaps Henry?). This group is destined for success assuming they learn to work as a team (another common RPG trope). I can’t wait to see what happens next.

That’s a good point! So do they stay in their roles or do they move around? Because Emma also has magic. And Regina could be a rogue like Hook.

I had very similiar thoughts awhile back, on one of our spoiler threads. I also did MMORPGS, specifically WOW. I thought Emma was like a paladin, which is a hybrid healer fighter.

This is the call of the paladin: to protect the weak, to bring justice to the unjust, and to vanquish evil from the darkest corners of the world. These holy warriors are equipped with plate armor so they can confront the toughest of foes, and the blessing of the Light allows them to heal wounds and, in some cases, even restore life to the dead.

Well that does sound a bit like the Savior I think!

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

Good point. The Leader  is  usually a  versitile individual who can fill in for other members should they ever be incapacitated.  kfchimera sums it up nicely.

Regina on the other hand doesn’t really possess the traits of the Rouge. Being dishonest/treacherous doesn’t automatically qualify you for the Rouge position. Hook is a quick thinker that possesses great agility. The looser morales allows him to do what’s necessary to succeed for the greater good.

I absolutely love the show for its layered characters.
