I would love that, since it’s Rumple willingly making a sacrifice, but it’s actually him giving up his dark magic (i.e. the shadow that hangs over him).

Building on that, what if Rumple’s shadow is removed and the shadow then has the Dark One’s power which is controlled by Peter Pan?
Wonder if Rumple left the dagger in SB? He thinks he’s going to his inevitable doom, so I could see him leaving it behind, either because he thinks he’s screwed anyway, or because he has a faint hope that he might get out alive if the dagger isn’t in NL with him.
It could be cool if Belle finds the dagger in SB, and then the name on it changes to PP at some point. I know there have been magic mirror theories floating around too, but the name on the dagger changing would be another way for Belle to discover where Rumple is, because everyone knows that PP is in NL. Of course, she’d think that he’s died if the name changes, which wouldn’t be so fun, but it could provide a wonderfully emotional scene between Belle and Nealfire, (assuming they’re reunited by then).
Ooh, parallel to them thinking Bae was dead. I like it. But PP as the Dark One —shiver!

Maybe Belle brings the dagger to NL (before any kind of changes to it) and it plays a bigger part in the PP story? What if PP needs Henry but before PP can kill him (I’m going on the assumption that PP does not have good intentions for poor Henry) he needs the dagger to do it. And Belle unknowingly brings the dagger thinking it could help Rumple in some way?
