Hey, we made it! The first episode was kind of different from what I was expecting, but still really good.
So first of all, I did not expect all of the Hydra leaders to be killed off in the first episode. Coulson’s plot to get them worked extremely well. When they got into the car crash, I was really worried. And then when May got shot, Coulson’s scream sounded so realistic that I almost panicked, but then Coulson got shot and I’m like “well something has to be going on here”. Hunter seems to be a man of many accents…he totally freaked out Bakshi (I probably didn’t spell that right) when he pulled the gun on him.
The flashback with the eyeless guy (Gordon?) at the beginning was interesting. It looks like we’re going to be seeing a bit more of Skye’s mom this season which will be nice.
Raina’s new form is pretty scary. I was surprised how insecure she was about herself…she really looked like she was trying to die at the end. The Raina from Season 1/Season 2A has been very invested in self-preservation. It was unexpected that she was so willing to throw away her life just because she wasn’t as pretty as she expected. And Cal’s reaction to her change was amusing. I laughed when he started skipping when he heard about Skye’s transformation. Raina could’ve ripped him to shreds, and he starts skipping. The guy is absolutely insane. And when he basically told Raina to kill herself…not nice.
Simmons’ behavior was also extremely different in this episode…Trip’s death clearly had a huge impact on her. The Simmons from previous episodes never would’ve tried to kill Raina, nor suggest killing her to her bosses. Skye better be careful around Simmons from now on.
I was very surprised at how emotional Coulson was in this episode. When he was talking to Skye, he nearly had a meltdown, and as Skye pointed out to May later on, it was very unlike him.
Mack’s rage at Coulson was pretty intense…I understand where he’s coming from, but I agree with May that he was out of line. It was interesting how Bobbi played the peacekeeper in that scene…I feel like her role and Mack’s are usually reversed, with her being the emotional one, and Mack calming her down. Speaking of Bobbi, I can’t believe Hunter bought that story about her and Mack being in a support group. Really, Hunter?
The Fitz and Skye scenes were very powerful, which is unusual for those two…whenever they’re in a scene together, it’s usually pretty light-hearted. I was really upset when Fitz was accusing Skye of causing the earthquake, but it was clear how afraid he was, both for her and for himself and the rest of the team. Later on, when he lied to protect her from Simmons, I nearly cried. Especially at their hug at the end. I was glad that it was Fitz and Skye that shared the hug as opposed to Skye and Coulson…it’s nice to see her have an emotional relationship with someone other than Coulson.
And that end scene, with the team reminiscing about Trip. :'( Although they were telling stories about Trip (I loved Skye’s imitation “C’mon, girrrl”, the vibe from the scene felt like it was the actors talking about how different the show would be without B.J. Either way, it worked really well.
Can’t wait for the next episode!

I really had to think back to figure out how they made Bakshi think there was a conspiracy. But it was when Hunter said he was being paid by “a bunch of people” to kill him.
Unfortunately, they seem to have killed everyone BUT the head. 🙁 Because Whitehall was only in charge of a “region”, or something.
So who is this Von Strucker? He is clearly the one who is REALLY in charge of Hydra. And it seemed he doesn’t even show his face to the Hydra council (or whatever that was), only to his one messenger, who carries his orders to the rest.
And now Von Strucker and his messenger are apparently the only two left. And no one even knows they exist (unless Bakshi talks).
Ok, Fitz is awesome! 😀 He was upset at first, when he realized that something was wrong / different about Skye. But it seems that what he was really upset about, was thinking that there was something wrong with him, that he could not understand what he was looking at. Once he realized that Skye was different, he knew that what he thought he was seeing was true. So once he knew there was nothing wrong with him, he was totally fine with Skye being different! 😀 😀 😀
I’m so glad we get to see more of Skye’s mother. And it’s really fascinating to see how she worked, how she helped people. And I like that Gordon is continuing her work. 🙂
I noticed that the words she said to young Gordon when he was scared, are the exact same words that Gordon said to Raina: “It’s ok beautiful, I’ll show you the way.” Those are apparently THE words to say to someone who is newly thinking they are a monster: you call them “beautiful”! 😎
And Fitz basically said that in his own words: “You are not a monster, you’re just different, and that’s OK.” 😎 😎 😎
