So apparently this is going to be a thing:
We all know the story of Aladdin and how he was poor, fell in love with Princess Jasmine, found a genie who granted him three wishes, and wished to be a prince so he could make Jasmine fall in love with him. He was joined on his journey by his loveable and adorable monkey Abu. The Genie was always funny but, bound to the lamp, was trapped in a life he didn’t want. Aladdin promised to use his last wish to free him and the rest is history.
However, now Disney has decided to give us background information in the Aladdin prequel, to show us where it all began. But they aren’t doing it for Aladdin, no, they’re telling us the story of the Genie. The live action Aladdin prequel will be a comedy and, according to Variety, will be named Genies

Keeper Of Tamara's Taser , Jafar's Staff, Kitsis’s Glasses , Ariel’s Tail, Dopey's Hat , Peter Pan’s Shadow, Outfit, & Pied Cloak,Red Queen's Castle, White Rabbit's Power To World Hop, Zelena's BroomStick, & ALL MAGICI am…excited about this and afraid at the same time. I mean Aladdin is one of my top three fave Disney films. To learn more about the genie is going to be exciting. And I have hope that it will be better than the Descendants movie since its a Disney film and not a Disney CHANNEL film. And plus…this is GENIE, it’ll be hilarious. And Maleficent was a Disney prequel that was really well done. So yeah. I will be looking forward to this…but I will be weary for one sole reason: Who plays Genie? Ofcourse, no one can top Robin Williams. James Inglehart did a great, and different take on the character. So I just hope whoever they choose really captures the spirit of the character, not just as was portrayed in the Disney film,but with a new take like in the broadway version.

Genie being imprisoned in the lamp? That wasn’t his happy ending, that was a terrible imprisonment….his happy ending was being free at the end of the Aladdin movie. So unless this does like Maleficent, and show his origins but also show the Aladdin movie where he gains his happy ending….I can’t see how else this would be a great movie.

I don’t know how to feel about this….I mean, what would the ending be? Genie being imprisoned in the lamp? I figure the genie did a heroic sacrifice. He took the place of someone he loved, set them free and took their place as a genie. So while its not a happy ending, it’d be good because he did something good and we as the audience knows he himself will eventually be set free….. In 10,000 years if I remember. But yeah.
