It’s funny because Emma never even used the information Hook sent to her. Zelena found out about Hades weakness from Hades himself. So Hook didn’t really do anything.

Daniel always promotes coming to this forum to have all kinds of discussions but from being here just for a couple of hours I can already tell this isn’t the place for me. For one I actually like Hook and it seems like everyone here dislikes him and his relationship with Emma which is my favorite on the show.. Shame really.
I thought his revival was amazing, he’s absolutely earned it as he has become a true hero. Even Zeus has acknowledged the great things Killian has done by giving him a second chance and basically saying the place he belongs is by Emma’s side.
May 9, 2016 at 6:40 am #323089sciencevsmagicParticipantLet’s all be civil about this but….did Hook deserve to come back to life (by way of a god-blessing from Zeus)?
If you mean from a moral perspective then…I think not. I agree with WickedRegal and yourself.
But another interesting question is: do you believe Hook deserves to return based on what he adds to the story? Is he an interesting character? Does he contribute to the plot? Are his dynamics with the other characters important to the show?
For me, the answer to all three of the above questions is ‘no’. I find him rather bland, and his character doesn’t have much depth or complexity anymore. His sole reason for existence is Emma. He doesn’t drive the plot forward – not through is own actions anyway. As Screwball Ninja points out, Hook’s narrative function is that of a henchman. He is simply a supporting actor – these days, to Emma and the Charmings. Finally, he doesn’t have much of a relationship with anyone except Emma. Their relationship’s been front and centre this season, but it doesn’t integrate into the rest of the story all that well. It’s not like Emma and Regina, or Emma and Henry which really form the core of the entire show.
Anyone else have any thoughts about this?
May 9, 2016 at 6:55 am #323090NordicaParticipantWhere to even begin? “Last Rites” …
The episode was very moving. Directing was good. BUT. First of all. An act of true love is never rewarded with death in a fairy tale. Therefore, Robin must return. Second of all, Robin goes head to head with Hades and selflessly protects those he loves, yet Zeus rewards Hook with life because he finds some book pages. I have nothing against Hook, but the balance is simply off here.
I get that the writers want to push Regina’s inner struggle even further. But there are so many other ways to do that than killing off another decent man, not to mention orphaning Roland.
Robin Hood is a legendary character with so much storyline potential and I cannot for the life of me understand how the writers aren’t tapping into this. I fully expect Robin Hood to return – anything else is simply going against everything the show stands for – at it’s core – hope and the belief that doing good matters. We talk about all the redeemed villains deserving a happy ending? But surely, Robin deserves his, seeing his children grow up – being with Regina … #OutlawQueen has been through a lot – much of which I do not like – but I love Regina and Robin together and their story has been my main reason for watching the show for a long time now. Hope and pixiedust are what they stand for – and without it, the magic is gone. So save Robin Hood. I’ll just sit here and wait until he rematerializes from the dust of the Olympian crystal.
And come to think of it … why didn’t Regina just poof the three of them back into the tunnels. It’s as if the writers forgot she has magic … So many holes ..

Agree, expect for one thing, Robin is not the only one that deserves this, Marian, Neal, they all have kids and deserve to see them grow, but in the end we know that wont happen, unless they simply send all fans to hell and on the last season, all death characters appear and they say, SURPRISE, nothing of what u saw the past seasons happened and this was simply in someone that is on asylum, which at this point also wont happen, bc i doubt the show will end next season.

You can have all kinds of discussions here as we usually do. Our opinions will differ sometimes, of course.
There is a CaptainSwam thread here in the character discussions that you are free to comment in and see if others reply. There used to be quite a lot of Hook fans here…. once upon a time 😛 see what I did there.

my opinion here is that I disagree.

Hook is no more deserving than a lot of other characters. And the problem for me this episode was that if we were to put Robin and Hook on a scale next to each other, Robin would win – never really the villain, always putting others first, the father of two young children one of whom is now an orphan. I have nothing against Hook, but bringing him back and obliterating Robin is somewhat of a mockery, in my opinion.
