ok guys – who else is ticked off by Zelena prancing about in a tight mini dress and high heels with her girlish figure back in tack 5 minutes after having natural childbirth — wtf?? Plot or not – this is insulting to mothers everywhere.
That dress had magical postpartum belly support woven into it. Made out of 100% recycled MacGuffins 😛
I actually agree, it was kind of offensive. It’s another reminder that this show is about women written (mostly) by men. Does anyone remember those weird “mommy to be” dolls — I think from the early 90s? I remember they were around when I was a kid. Essentially, the belly opens, the baby comes out, and then there’s a plastic “flap” that snaps back and the belly is flat again. I’m going to assume that somehow this is still the writers’ understanding of childbirth in humans. I wish they’d skip to the chase, and just reintroduce storks.

As for names, my vote is for the obvious “a” ending name: Elphaba!!! LOL Doubt they’ll go there though because of rights issues.
I was more upset that the first thing she did after escaping was Revenge and not going to the girl whom she had just gave birth.

Giving birth to a child doesn’t actually mean one is going to be automatically “into” motherhood. But yes, we are given the impression that Zelena really wants / cares for this kid — so it was rather OOC.

LOL, nevermore!
And yes, I’ve never had a baby myself, but even when she was camped out in the dungeon and still in her hospital clothes it was annoying me, because I’m pretty sure a woman needs more than 2 minutes recovery time after delivering a baby before they can move about freely, or sit on the cold hard ground without being in any discomfort at all?

If they turn it around and try to paint her as a devoted mother in the next ep or so, it’s gonna be ridiculous.
November 17, 2015 at 4:36 am #312738AmdillaeParticipantI have an idea for an ‘a’ ending name that hasn’t’ come up yet and could overtake baby Neal for awkward naming, but I could see happening, Zelena. No I am not suggesting that Zelena names her daughter in a Lorelai Gilmore-eqse burst of feminism, I can see this scenario. Something or someone is threatening our soap opera plot point baby and Zelena makes a great and heroic sacrifice to protect her daughter and gain some manor of redemption. As she is dying, she begs Regina to be a real mother to the baby, unlike their own. In turn Regina names the baby after Zelena in some bizarre attempt to honor her.
I really don’t want to see this as it would be all kinds of wrong but I can see something this twisted happening.

I cannot tell you how much that irked the h*** out of me….NO Mother is going to look that flawless and walk around like that ten minutes after giving birth! Especially when you’re pushing something the size of a watermelon out of a hole that’s the size of a green pea! I’ve had four kids, and each one, it took me at least a week and a half to two weeks to bounce back! I get it…she’s a magic mother, but still…I took offense on behalf of all the mothers who endured the post delivery cycle.

This is exactly where we’re going.

November 17, 2015 at 8:01 pm #312773onceaholicParticipantIs the baby magical?
Without a doubt due to her lineage.
What will Robin/Zelena name her?
If it is not something greeny or ending in A as others have previously suggested, we must remember that OUAT have named baby’s inappropriately before (Neal). The most inappropriate name I can think of? Marian.
I’d laugh if it was Morgana. (Ends in A!).
Who should get custody?
Robin with supervised contact for Zelena.
Can motherhood redeem Zelena?
Not sure. She is different to Regina. Regina was an ordinary person who succumbed to darkness *slowly* over time, but not to madness. Zelena however, succumbed to darkness very *quickly*, indicating an already dark nature or a very broken psyche.
So logically, it is not a case of redemption but containment and medication. Knowing this show, however, there is a chance they will go for her redemption,.

I found this inconsistent, too.

This irritated me too.
I guess they did it because the show is on before 9pm. She didn’t sweat much during the birth, either. And it wasn’t particually realsitic for Neal’s birth scene, too.
(Wheras Snow did in the pilot so out the window goes my theory? Then again it was the pilot, so…).
