[adrotate group="5"]June 2, 2016 at 7:57 pm #324588RumplesGirlKeymasterI think Rumple’s a bit like Burr. Not in the unsure, uncommitted, silent type, but rather that Rumple’s slowly being written as a straight up villain in our “history” even if it’s actually 1000x more complex than that. Simply by virtue of a few acts, both Rumple (“killing” Zelena, lying to Belle, willingly handing over SB to villains, trying to hurt Henry) and Burr (recommending moderation, refusing to help Hamilton with the Federalist papers, the advice he gives, and–of course–shooting Hamilton) our histories paint them as “bad guys” against the “good guys” even if there is something to recommend both of them.
Both, for example, are actually really good fathers. In history–and the musical touches on this–Burr was fiercely devoted to his daughter and makes sure she is educated in a more liberal manner: Greek, Latin, shooting, ect. In the first few seasons, Rumple’s raison d’etre was his own child.
Ironically, I think there’s quite a bit of Belle in Eliza with their endless patience, kindness, and ultimately forgiveness when their respective husbands break their hearts.
I’ll have to think about the others (though there’s a bit of the Lafayette swaggish nature in Hook)

I actually see a bit of a similarity between Angelica and Regina, especially in recent times. Two powerhouse women who know a lot about sacrifice. Actually, Season 1 Emma and Angelica are pretty similar too.

Lin-Manuel is some sort of crazy genius. Possibly just crazy. Possibly just a genius.

Brilliant. There are no words for how much I respect and admire Lin. And ugh, Leslie’s VOICE is perfect.
June 4, 2016 at 1:58 am #324602Jessica FreyParticipantI actually think King Arthur has some Hamilton characteristics. If anyone is gonna go non stop it is gonna be King Arthur. I mean King Arthur is crazy but I love the guy.
I definitely See rumple having burr traits because he doesn’t tell ppl who he is or what he is fighting for. He seizes opportunities for himself. He has no party allegedience. Sorry my spelling is the worst.
I like the whole idea of who lives who dies who tells your story. That is so much like once upon a time. The author just records but everyone is the author of their own fate.
The Schuyler sisters : Regina Emma and snow or maleficient as Eliza, cruella as Angelica and Ursula is Peggy
I have seen Hamilton qualities in Emma and Regina and even snow and charming.
Charming is a lot like George Washington. The stand up guy. Father of the nation.
This might have been all over the place. It’s late here.

Agreed. I love that he came up with “The Room Where it Happens” on a subway.
ETA: the interview with Charlie Rose with the cast!

Actually, I think it was “Wait For It” 😉 But yes, I love that story!
And I think Snow is a good match for Eliza. Season 1 Snow, at least. Incredibly loyal, kind, strong, and selfless.
I think Henry has a lot in common with young Hamilton. They’re both writers, grew up without their parents, and are always trying to prove themselves.
Since the Tony Awards are about a week away…any predictions? I think Hamilton will win in every category except Best Actress in a Musical. I love Pippa and thinks she makes a perfect Eliza, but I think Cynthia is going to take that one.
I think that Daveed will win Best Featured Actor…I wouldn’t be upset if Chris Jackson won, but I think Daveed’s got this one. I love Jonathan Groff, but he didnt have nearly enough stage time to deserve being noninated IMO…I thought Anthony Ramos should’ve gotten the nomination. He has to die 16 times a week!!!
I think Leslie will win best actor, and it will be well deserved. He is an incredible singer, and puts so much passion into Burr. I think Lin would be incredibly happy for him if he won. And I believe Lin will win everything else anyway.

Ack! You’re right. This is why I shouldn’t try to type at 4:30 am
Tony’s:
–I think Daveed will win as well.
–Obviously it will get best musical
–Also, I think Lin will best actor and that’s a really tough call. Leslie does deserve it, absolutely. But I think the sheer popularity and sheer magnetic force that is Lin is going to sway the judges.
