… is still very very evil? Everything seems to be working out for the her majesty these days. Snow is trapped in another world, Charming is under a curse, Rumple has a weakness for Belle, and Henry likes her again. Seems like the right opportunity for her to take advantage of. I hope the creators didn’t think the Evil Queen would cease being so evil so soon.
[adrotate group="5"]December 1, 2012 at 9:33 pm #163130PriceofMagicParticipantRegina’s going to turn evil the moment it suits her. For example, I can see her turning on Rumple if Hook were to make a deal with her to help her get rid of Cora.
All magic comes with a price!

Regina and Hook have met up before and it seems she pulled the wool over his eyes at that time… I do not think their parting was on good terms. I also saw that Hook made a play for Belle and almost killed her in EF/ FTL before the curse so I do not think Belle will fall for any of Hook's malarkey. All I have to say this winter finale is going to be interesting.

So far, so good, she hasn’t really used much magic and (since she’s not a mayor any more) she hasn’t manipulated anyone. BUT she has no reason to, it’s really been easy for her, literally all the people she wanted gone are now truly gone and, for a change, no one blames her for that, so she doesn’t need to create any excuses or use magic to protect herself. Yes, she is trying to redeem herself but it’s been way too easy so far and I think, even though she realizes what needs to be done, she isn’t ready yet and the threat of Cora has clearly shown that.

Like EQ says, she has no reason to use magic or turn evil. But I’m sure she wouldn’t hesitate to throw someone else in front of the bus if the choice was between them and herself. Unless it was Henry of course. Then she’d just use her magic to flip the bus over 😀
But anyway I think this is like Lost, where all the characters would make choices to become better people yet face temptations along the way. The most obvious parallel between Regina’s use of magic, is Charlie’s heroine addiction on Lost as magic has been a metaphor for drugs. When Charlie gave up the last heroin he had, the survivors on the Island found a plane that happened to belong to drug smugglers, so he was tested again. I think it’s the same with Regina, but she’s using dark magic for good causes now, but I bet that will change if/when Cora makes it to SB.December 2, 2012 at 11:36 am #163238GrimmsisterParticipantI don’t think there’s anyone on this show who is evil.
Really they are taking all the fun out of evil, buy butchering the core of evil villains and just making them lost souls really…..December 2, 2012 at 11:46 am #163241hellraiser-89ParticipantI know what you mean medchen. I usually don’t like when shows do that, they even partly did that with Stargate and their villains were really plain and simple evil, at least in the beginning, then they sorta became more….wussy and comedic. I really hope we wont see Regina or Rumple turning into the bad-guy/comic-relief when/if they pose no to little threat to the heroes.

It really irritated me when they tried to do this with Cora too already when we were told that Cora wasn’t always like she was before Rumple came along by her husband, because why couldn’t she just be evil because that’s how she always was since sometimes it just happens like that in real life too. Or maybe it’s I don’t like how they kept telling us instead of showing us at the beginning of this season how evil Cora was, and then they had to go and tell us something about her to try to get us to sympathize with her without showing us. It just doesn’t make for effective storytelling because at the time Cora didn’t seem to have done anything worse than Regina and Rumple, and I really couldn’t sympathize without really seeing what happened because maybe she had was conning her husband Henry all along by pretending to be a good person.

is it dark magic if she uses it to help others around her?

I didn’t watch Sg-C because it bore me out of my mind but I simply adore Sg-A and SG-U and I’m not sure I understand what you are referring to.

Well, we don’t really know Cora’s story yet, I hope we do learn it though. I agree that we need some BAD villains rather than just the CONFUSED ones. But Cora seems to be pretty much on the ball and I hope she’ll stay that way.
As to what Henry senior was saying – I think this is just a talk of a man who was once in love.
Cora didn’t know how to use magic properly before she met Rumple so she didn’t really have means to demonstrate her evil character but once she was able to, she exposed who she really was. I don’t think they can show that she was initially good or confused – in the end, HOW did she meet Rumple, did she make a deal with him? Either way, it looks to me like she’s always pursued power and magic while Regina was simply forced into it. Regina had no choice but seemingly it was Cora who actually initiated all of it and that pretty much means there had to be something really bad in her character to even want to start it. -
