All the fairies we’ve seen on the show have been female. But Tinkerbell is a fairy and (assuming the Disney Fairies franchise holds as much weight as the Disney Princess franchise) she has some fairy males in her neck of the woods, called Sparrow Men, I think?
Does anyone else think that being a fairies are a female only race, like the dwarves apparently, or maybe perhaps we just haven’t seen any male fae? I mean how exactly would they reproduce…..for that matter…where do dwarf eggs even come from??? o_o

They make no sense in my head so I just go “magic!” and leave well enough alone.
As to male fairies, in my headcanon, there are no male fairies. Instead there is a ban on TL for the fairies because their job is so important. I have this whole theory about Blue and how a long long long long time ago she fell in love with a mortal man and in an effort to make him immortal so that they could be together forever, she stabbed him with an enchanted dagger except that it created the first dark one. After this, Blue made a law that fairies weren’t allowed to have true love.

I mean Blue Fairy being responsible for the Dark Curse. She seems to know a lot about it, and said it “doesn’t belong in this world” and that the curse is “specific to this realm” so I wonder what does that mean. She’s also said to be the ancient, and original power, by Morraine, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
But still, if she’s so ancient, where does she and her kind come from?? Fairies seem to just be in about every tale, I hope they shed some light on her backstory this season

They are referred to as Sparrow Men.

We know from Dreamy that Blue runs a tight ship. She manipulates and guilts Nova and Grumpy into abandoning their plans. Dwarfs aren’t mean to find love and neither are fairies.
I love the theory that Blue was spurned by love. It’s funny that she never gives the advice of using True Love’s Kiss to counteract curses. I know she’s mentioned it once or twice, but largely it’s not an option to her. It’s Rumple who waxes on all the time about how True Love has the power to break any spell. For a Dark One, he sure goes on and on love; and for a good fairy, Blue is usually very quiet about the subject.
I always suspected she didn’t like that True Love was the most powerful of all magic. That means that it’s stronger than her “original power” and all the fairy dust they use to power the Enchanted Forest. For some reason, either fairies “can’t” love, aren’t allowed, or she’s just bitter (reminds me of Regina), Blue just doesn’t have access to True Love. That means someone else is more powerful than her and therefore can upset the balance of magic and power in the Enchanted Forest. Blue doesn’t want to let go of being the top magical dog in the pound…or fairy in the forest. 😛

Agreed!
As for male fairies, I don’t think so. I reckon all fairies are female, just like all dwarves are male, and neither is allowed to fall in love.

As an exercise, how evil can we make the fairies? They need hardworking, loyal labourers for dangerous work in the mines. How about if the eggs are personality reprogramming chambers, or something like the pods from Invasion of the Body Snatchers? That would give an unending supply of miners who would whistle while they worked.
