As they say, “All Magic Comes At A Price”. I like the idea of the Dark Ones still being “slaves to the dagger” after they die as Wraiths. In life it controlled them and so it shall even after…… How depressing. But perhaps that is the price of the Dark One’s powerful magic.
This makes me sad for the eventual fate of Rumple. I don’t want his death to mean he’s a slave to the Dark One’s knife still! Maybe that bondage breaks if there is true love?

He is going to be the last Dark One I would think, but how that curse ends will create another problem because he is not going to die.

I agree that Rumple will be the last Dark One. The dark one curse can only be passed on if the previous dark one is killed and it would be a severely foolish move to kill off Rumple.

Keeper of FelixWhen Hook poisoned Rumpel, Cora did say if he died then the Dark One’s power would just “evaporate” I believe? So maybe that killing him in a place where he has no magic and True Love are ways around that little clause.

If True Love saves the day, ie: Rumple lays dying but Belle saves him with TLK a la BatB, I wonder if it would still “evaporate” into thin air.

They need to cheat the normal end of Dark Ones in some way. If they need to set up another big bad, giving that power to the BB sets things up, so it would not be the normal transfer or boiling off. There will be some negative consequence, some new challenge unless it is the end of the story.
