Oh, yes I dont think Hookriel will = no more Hook at all (I’d hope), it’d probably just mean almost no Hook at all (after the NL story finished), aside from the odd pop in cameo (as has happened to all the other ‘HEA’ couples- ie Abigail, Hansel & Gretel, Cinders) & when it’s your fav character that may as well be gone for good 😉 🙁 I know not everyone can be kept, but anyone not heavily involved with our mains will be dropped at some point, in favor of new ‘regular’ cast, otherwise there are just to many toys in the play pen for a 40min ep to do justice with (I think of all the Belle fans sadness this season when she wasn’t around & then when she was around, wasn’t doing much more than hanging off of Rumple for a few mins every couple of eps). As I said I wouldn’t say yay or nay to Hookriel until after seeing how it plays out.
I don’t think the lack of use of a regular character comes from not being involved with the mains; if it was, Belle would’ve had a lot more screentime than she did. What really counts is how big an investment does the character have, directly or indirectly, on the main storyline, namely the fight for Henry.
Henry is the driving force the show, its primary MacGuffin, so to speak; everything that happens in the show eventually comes down to Henry in the end: he brought Emma to SB, he made Emma believe by getting himself cursed, he led Emma to break the curse with her true love’s kiss on him, he drove Regina to try to be good and then fall back into evil, he is the one prophesized to be Rumple’s undoing and, finally, he’s the one Peter Pan’s looking for. If you don’t have a heavy emotional investment, direct or indirect on him, you don’t last longer on the regular cast. It’s why Archie, August and Red are out (no family connection), Belle remains (she’s the TL of Henry’s grandfather and, such, his step-grandmother), Neal’s in (Henry’s father) and Hook will likely remain (he’s emotionally Neal’s stepfather and Henry’s step-grandfather, to some extent).

Sebastian, Flounder, and Scuttle. Do we see them?Probably not. We don’t see Mrs. Potts, Lumière or the real Chip, after all. 🙂

They didn’t go with the enchanted objects being cursed angle (Rumple says that the cup is just a cup) but there is a great shot of Belle & Rumple sitting on the table and on the left is the tea service (Mrs. Potts) and on the right is a candlestick and a clock – Lumiere & Cogsworth. Rumple is holding Chip in his hands. 🙂 It’s not as good as the real thing we’re used to, but I’m sure it was intentionally done to give a little nod to those characters which I thought was nice.
I tried to embed the pic I just tweeted here but it was being mean so I’ll just put the link. Not the best ever but if you’re looking for it you’ll see all of them in that 1 shot 🙂

If we don’t get them as real characters, I’m sure they’ll implant them somehow.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 24, 2013 at 7:54 pm #195999MysteryKat25ParticipantThanks RG. It just was NOT willing to be cooperative for me! At least they put all the objects in the background of important shots in Rumple’s estate if we don’t get to actually see them as characters. Thought it was nice that they were all in 1 frame. 🙂
I hope we get at least some of the characters that go along with mermaids. Not sure if they’ll really go the route of talking animals though. =/ I guess if they make it clear that Ariel is the only one who understands them that might work but it’s tricky. I’d love to see it though, I adore Sebastian and some of the others are fun too. Mermaids talking they can get away with, birds and sea creatures I’m not sure but maybe she’ll at least be seen occasionally with various ones near her so we can imagine for ourselves that she’s hanging out with them. That would be nice. As long as they’re not completely ignored (come on Props department, I trust you guys, don’t let me down!)
I agree! The fork thing is a must and should be easy for them to work in so it better be there!

Oh, I stand corrected, then. However, how does one do something similar to Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle, then? I don’t think we’ll be getting those as real characters just like we didn’t with Beauty and the Beast’s enchanted objects.

Depends on where they are. If they have Ariel sitting on a rock in Mermaid’s Lagoon, you could see Flounder swimming around, Sebastian sitting on the rock near her and Scuttle either standing or flying nearby. They’d never have to make a noise, just be seen. Or, if she is elsewhere like walking around SB and her story was all in the past, she could have various paintings, statues, etc on her walls or bookshelves like we’ve seen with Rumple (whose pawn shop reminds me of Ariel’s treasure cave) and Gepetto (he had the whale carving young Pinocchio made for instance). So there are lots of possibilities to at least see the characters and I’d like to think they’d at least give us that if they’re not allowed to talk.

Ooo I like that! To the untrained ear it would be random but to those who love The Little Mermaid it would be hilarious! Love it love it love it!
