Some people may disagree, but I think the perfect Ariel would be Miley Cyrus with dyed red hair. She’d look the part, and is an actress.

Personally I just don’t like her voice, and she’s got too much drama etc etc that the show definitely doesn’t need (our cast is awesome and gets along and egos are checked at the door/non-existant) and nothing like what I imagine for Ariel. All depends on what twist they want to put on her and I’ll deal with whatever they do of course, but would not be my first choice (not sure who WOULD be my first choice right now, but definitely not Miley).
I pretty much feel the way about this idea as I did about PeeWee Herman being the voice of the white rabbit on OUATIW (thank goodness they changed him out cause that rabbit is adorable!). It would feel more like stunt-casting and she’s supposedly super focused on her music anyway so would be hard to pin down for any long-lasting arc and I’m kinda hoping Ariel isnt a one-off character.

The wig EdR wore for example was fine for one episode but I’m so glad EdR grew out her hair and dyed it for the future because the wig wouldn’t have worked out.
And I agree with Kat, she does come with a whole heck of a lot of drama. She might bring in viewers, though. I kind of like the idea of an unknown, though. We’ve had a lot of people on our show get picked up for more prominent roles after they worked on OUAT.
And I also agree about the rabbit in WL. Seriously, ABC. Lemme buy a stuffed version of that cutie."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 16, 2013 at 9:24 am #194785batclawParticipantOh if this casting call is true I wonder if Ariel will flirt with Peter Pan after all those two are two biggest characters in Disney. Having those two together would be big 😮 they can have Peter in his 20/30s. A grown up Peter would be cool with a grown up Ariel in Neverland. 😀

Looking at the Once headlines on SpoilerTV, I don’t see anything about recent casting calls, though I suppose maybe the entire post was removed. Google isn’t helping. This is gonna drive me nuts.
It may be a conspiracy. It seems a wee bit early, doesn’t it? Unless she’s in the first episode of S3, which begins shooting in July. Then that would make sense.
If she needs to learn to swim/ scuba dive etc…. it might make sense for them to cast the actress earlier to give her specialized training.

Or they could just skip the effects and feature her as a cursed to be human mermaid, flipping her story around (she wants to be a mermaid rather than wanting to be human).
I hope they don’t put her with Peter Pan given the huge creepy factor they have in mind for that character! If they can pull off incorporating Prince Eric into PP then I suppose but it is hard to envision that right now. Hm…imagine someone cursed to be a child to separate him from his true love…..that could inspire some pretty bad behavior.

I won’t lie: I’m coming around to the idea of Hookriel, especially as in my headcanon Hook is a lost Prince unaware of his identity.

Even if Hook’s mother was high-born, he still wouldn’t be considered noble because he likely would have been born illegitimately (i.e. a noblewoman wouldn’t marry a fugitive, even if she might sleep with one). A noble title wouldn’t have passed from mother to son anyway, especially not one born out-of-wedlock. Noble titles always passed from father to legitimate first-born son.

Unless of course that’s not his father….
Like I said, head canon. I don’t think Hook knows his true origin.

Hmmmmm. I really don’t think Hook is secretly a prince. I think he’s the son of a runaway thief or perhaps even the pirate Davey Jones. Also, I don’t think Hook and Ariel were involved romantically. Hook’s true love was Milha, and I don’t think he ever got over this until maybe Emma. I doubt he had a relationship with a mermaid in NL, especially since Hook said the mermaids were cursed and said he hoped they spare Bae’s soul. So, at least at that point, Hook didn’t have a high view of mermaids.
