Damien Darhk scares the living daylights out of me. More thoughts later, but mostly “eeeeeeek”

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 7, 2015 at 9:27 pm #309482RumplesGirlKeymasterThe pieces of my brain (and heart) aren’t quite back together yet, but here goes.
–I really like the fact that the theme of the season, well this episode at least, is lightness shinning through the darkness. Arrow has been so dark as of late, S3 in particular. It often felt like Oliver was never going to get out of the dark and he would only become more tortured and more depressing. But this episode shows that Oliver wants to stand in the light; he wants to be hopeful and an inspiration. He’s changing and it’s a breath of fresh air.
–Felicity is still awesome. I love that she was bored.
–The ring! Gosh please don’t hold off that proposal for long.
–Thea is going to go loca, isn’t she?
–Diggle. DIGGLE. His “you don’t trust; you don’t love” speech broke my heart. Broke it into two. It’s also just not TRUE. Ollie does trust and he does love. He loves so much but it was a burden to him. He’s starting to realize that loving someone doesn’t need to come with a price. Please let Digg and Ollie come back together.
–Papa Lance WTH. He’s working WITH Darhk?! And preaching to Ollie about monsters?! UMMMMMMM
–WHAT IS THIS ENDING. WHAT IS THIS ENDING AND WHY AM I SCARED. IT’S NOT FELICITY, RIGHT?!
–Damien Darhk is terrifying. He’s into something old and dark and very…powerful. What he’s offering blood up to is likely worse than Darhk himself, plus Ra’s, Slade, and Merlyn.
Overall, fantastic opening episode.

“They will stay dead,” Mericle promised.” We want to bring stakes back to the show, and so we’ll be finding a way to handle the Lazarus Pit portion in Season 4 in a new, inventive way that I can’t reveal. But it’ll be cool.”

Alright…everyone calm down…just breath.
It’s time to face facts….someone indeed is going to wound up dead. Let’s just do a run down on the most likely choices.
1. Thea- I highly doubt that Thea is going to die considering if this was the route the producers would take, it would have been done in Season 3 where what’s his name stabbed Thea in her living room, and left her for dead. HOWEVER, if she does end up dead, I can see the producers using this to potentially bring back Roy to take back over his role as Speedy/Red Arrow, while also helping Oliver grieve, but again…I highly doubt Thea’s the one to go.
2. Laurel- Again, I highly doubt that Laurel will be the one to die considering the fact that canon wise in the comic books….Laurel is the Black Canary, so her death I think is automatically ruled out unless the producers wanna screw up what’s been canon for decades.
3. Diggle- He is one of the highest probable cases for some reason to me….this beef between him and Ollie, I can see a teary eyed scene where Diggle makes Oliver promise to take care of his wife and daughter, and we get sort of a “Wicked” scene where two best friends make amends just before one of them dies.
4. Felicity- She is my number one guess as to who dies….reasons why is because aside from Thea, her death would have the biggest affect on Oliver, and I think it would be her death that would cause him to break his promise to Tommy to never kill again. Also blaming himself when he mentioned bringing the darkness back with him, when Felicity told him that he didn’t…..it’s just a lot of clues pointing to Felicity.
So yeah…Felicity is my biggest guess, her death would trigger a very dark, dangerous side to Oliver, which is where I think the producers are hinting to us that they are heading to. I’m willing to bet that this graveyard scene will be the Arrow Season 4 Finale’s final scene….especially if it’s Felicity.
Whoever it is six feet under….based on Oliver’s dark turn and speech…we need to be prepared.

And Thea is actually my number one choice at the moment. Her or Felicity would be the biggest blow to Ollie but I don’t think they’d go and break up Olicity by killing Felicity. That’s ending their show, really. The fandom would never return. But Ollie’s rasion d’etre has always been his little sister. He just started accepting that he can walk in the light and always be in the dark. What better way to show him that there is peril in the light than by his sister’s death. Also, 10 cookies says it was Merlyn.

Yeah, if its Thea, I can definitely see this as a way to reintroduce darkness back to Oliver that would sort of take him back to his Season 1 Days, and if they wish to reintroduce Roy, they could have him come back to take over his role as Speedy/Red Arrow while also helping Oliver grieve.
The producers killing Felicity would definitely be a dangerous route to take, but they’re speaking of bringing stakes back to the show, however I wonder if they’re brave enough to venture into what would then be considered war territory.
My first choices, I’m stuck between Felicity and Diggle….second choice, I’m going with Thea.

October 8, 2015 at 8:32 pm #309542GaultheriaParticipantI’m thinking that it’s the mother of Ollie’s child.
(The neighbours’ talk about kids seemed like a big “Chekhov’s gun” for this season.)

October 8, 2015 at 11:31 pm #309556PheeParticipantI’m ruling out Felicity based on the Barry factor. There is NO WAY Barry would miss her funeral, and there is NO WAY he’d show up for 5 seconds at her grave and then just leave, all without looking like he’s gonna shed a single tear. NO. WAY. Barry Allen is a guy who expresses when he’s sad, and Felicity’s death would break his heart, but I got the feeling he didn’t have a deep connection to the dead person.
My first thought had been Digg, that he and Oliver will make up fully, then Digg will die.
Now I’m leaning more towards Lance. He’s one of Darhk’s minions now, and I have this image of Damien doing that thing and sucking the life out of Lance when he tries to turn on him. Oliver’s words about responsibility for bad things happening would be fitting if he’s thinking about things Lance had said to him when he was alive.

I have wondered if it could be her, or even perhaps the kid (though it looked like an adult sized grave).
There were pics from set a few days ago of Stephen shooting with whatshername who plays the babymama, and there was a kid there too.

Nope. Nope.

That’s logical. And before he dies, Lance comes to appreciate what Ollie has been doing to save the city.

If it’s not Felicity….then I’ve got to go with Diggle, and that’s exactly how I see it going as described by @Phee. Crying Oliver is desperately trying to save a dying Diggle, they make amends, Diggle makes Oliver promise to look after his wife and daughter, “cue Wicked’s For Good Music”, Diggle dies, and Oliver loses it.
Lance, I know it would have some affect on Oliver, but I just don’t see his death having that much of an impact on Oliver, especially to the point to where Oliver is willing to break his vow to Tommy to never kill again. Had that been Laurel standing at the grave site, I’d say that’s definitely Lance, but the mere fact that’s a broken, darkened, Oliver…..I place my cookies on Diggle or Felicity, if neither than Thea.
