Rumple already has a vendetta against him for pretending to be Bae. When Papa learns that Bae’s ‘happily ever after’ was postponed by a puppet….
Snow and Charming still haven’t learned that he took Snow’s place (that she could have raised her child!).
……Gepetto and August will be universally hated at some point.

I wasn’t keen on August, never did like Pinocchio and now I don’t like him even more. But I agree, he might have had a hand in Henry’s adoption. He could have found out somehow that she was pregnant. I would really like to see Snow kick his butt for abandoning Emma and for taking her place in the wardrobe.
November 5, 2012 at 8:44 am #159560PheeParticipantI had a peek at the forums before I’d had the chance to watch this ep. Saw the thread titles and was all, “YAY, more August!” Then read this thread and thought, “BAD, August!” Now I’ve had the chance to watch the ep.
I can totally see how people who were on the fence about the character given his previous actions would decide to officially hate him now. And of course, anyone who ships Emma and Neal(Bae?) will hate him, that’s a given. But as I already had a big soft spot for the character, this ep hasn’t turned me off him.
I don’t believe August was acting alone in this ep, I think he was acting under orders from Blue, (apart from the part where he took the money and ran, he totally deserved the shooting leg pains interrupting his fun times in Phuket), and she’s the one who wanted Emma and Neal split up. Pinocchio may be a bad boy, but if Blue found him in our world and put him in his place, he wouldn’t dare disobey her (again), so if she told him to go and split them up, and exactly how to do it, he’d have no choice but to comply.
After the events of this ep, especially if he’d done it all because Blue told him to, he likely felt like he wanted to get as far away from Emma and Blue and all of it as possible. First he left Emma as a baby and now he’s split her up from the guy she loves, and ratted on her to the cops, which landed her in jail. That’s gonna make the guy feel like crap. So he ran to Phuket, which I believe they’ve mentioned is the spot on the planet that’s the farthest away from SB, haven’t they? He ran as far as was humanly possible to try and escape. If Blue couldn’t get out of SB, then there’s no way she could follow him that far.
If he was working with Blue, and knew where she was, it would explain why he knew where to go 10 years later. It’d explain why he knew to go to Neal, because you’d think if he was acting on his own, he’d have just gone to Emma instead to try and get her back on the right track. How would August know who Neal was, or even if he was anyone special? Let’s assume that Neal is Bae, how would Pinocchio know that? How could he have ever found that out? None of the stories in our world about Rumplestiltskin tell about his past or his son, and all August had access to for information was the stories as they existed in our world. But it seems he did know who Neal was, that he was special in some way that would allow him to believe the story, and knew exactly what to show him in that box. How would August know that stuff about Neal? I don’t think he would. Blue would though. She’d know, and she’d have whatever item it was that August had in that box. How is August gonna access an item that would convince someone that FTL and Rumple’s curse was a true story? I just don’t see how he could have had the means to pull this scam off, unless he was being helped by someone with Blue’s status and knowledge.

If Emma was in prision, she would give her son to be adopted, Mr. Gold would bring him to Regina… and the clock goes on till Emma’s 28th birthday with all the pieces already in the chessboard. If Emma and Neal would start a live together, then Henry would grew up with them and the play never started.
And then we’d have no show. 😉 Henry had to be in SB to lure Emma there. I suppose if it was her destiny then maybe something else would have still got her there at the right time. But then, what exactly is destiny, and does it sometimes need a helping hand? Was it part of her destiny to have Henry, to be separated from him, and then be reunited, because it was all part of her life’s journey to get her to be the person she had to be to break the curse? Was all of that pre-determined somehow? Also, on a less mystical level, if outsiders can’t find SB, then maybe she needed Henry to take her there, so he had to be on the inside.

But maybe Emma had to find true love in Storybrooke. Maybe “the first-born child of Emma Swan” was written into the curse and had to be brought to Storybrooke in order for the curse to be broken.
Given that we’re talking about a curse created by Rumple, that’s certainly a possibility.

He could have left it in the car. Do you really think if he sent that kind of money in that envelope to a prison she would get to keep it. It would go to the jewelry store or they would try to figure out who would be sending her that kind of money. August is a creep and he really did go about it the wrong way to get Emma to SB but how would she have gotten there in the first place without Henry being there. And would she have found her special power of telling the truth if she wasn’t hurt so badly. But I’m all for August getting a major butt whipping by a long list of people. Starting with Snow and Charming and just moving down the list but I think the BF needs to be smack by Snow too. It seems that all this people got caught up in a battle between Rumple and the BF.

Very true. Though you’d think a car may raise some suspicions too, but a huge sum of cash does appear more suspect to the authorities. What’s she gonna do with that amount of cash when she’s in jail, try to bribe her way out? I’m still thinking he took the money for himself though, instead of leaving it in the car. If she thought Neal had left her the car AND the money, she’d really have started to think about everything and might have figured out that something was up. If he left her the cash in the car, that contradicts the story that he dumped her to take the money and run.
And would she have found her special power of telling the truth if she wasn’t hurt so badly.
I’m guessing not. It was probably after this incident that she really started to hone her lie detecting skills, to make sure she was never hurt by someone like that again.
One more thing I’ve gotta say, mad props to them for having kept this under wraps. We knew Eion was gonna be in this ep only because his name was in the official cast list. We figured we’d see him in SB. Not a single leak or set photo of him shooting scenes from Emma’s past. For all the stuff they let leak out, it’s cool that they can still keep certain things top secret.
November 5, 2012 at 11:30 am #159573gigiParticipantStill, at least left her 2000$! Not took off all of her money like that.
November 5, 2012 at 1:09 pm #159581TheGoldenKeyParticipant@ Phee, great stuff! Love how you’re thinking 🙂
Regarding the money. Two things strike me as funny. 1) How the guard felt she had to address the fact that there was nothing else in the envelope. I mean why even mention that unless you were guilty of removing something and trying to cover your tracks. 2) That was quite a large envelope for such a small item.
Maybe we’re pre-judging August a little too harshly? I don’t know………sigh……..

Ok maybe August wasnt the one who took off with the cash and he was able to go off to Phuket by some other means. He should have revealed himself and gave those things to her himself. He could have set up an account for her to have when she got out but anyways. He should have told her that he was the one who found her and that he was in the same home but saved the fairytale stuff for later. Instead he left her alone again, she still needed him, she still needed someone and if it wasn’t Neal it should have been him.
November 5, 2012 at 2:22 pm #159595melliemdParticipantI believe August took the money so that Emma wouldn’t be tempted to keep the baby. If she’s an eighteen year old with no means to raise a child, of course she’s going to give it up. But if she’s an eighteen year old with $2000 dollars… She might not have. And then how would she end up in Storybrooke on her 28th birthday?
