No. I’m pretty sure he took the money for his own reasons. Rewatch it and pay attention to his face when Neal hands him the money and he’s talking about how Emma won’t need the money. August knows this is another of the “temptations” he won’t be able to resist.
I can’t wait to see how this plays out when Neal tries to explain himself. August might want dismantle all the woodchippers in storybrooke before Neal shows up…

Yeah, agreed Faux Pax. Just noticed that now as I’m watching again. I retract my previous statement. 😳

Yes, I’m pretty sure that viewers are suppose to think he took the money because the envelope he sent to Emma in jail came from Phuket which is where August said he had been instead of doing his duty as a protector. He could have went there by some other means, but I think the way he looked at the money plus mention of Phuket is supposed to indicate that he pocketed the money
Also, ABC’s website may not be reliable as a source, but they say that August pocketed the $20,000 too.

So true. 😀 And to think I actually wanted a bromance between the two before “Tallahassee”.

I don’t think he knew about the baby. And I don’t think the BF can see the future. Rumple can glimpse the future though. They just said Emma is the savior and will break the curse, there’s plenty of way to break the curse without involve Henry. Instead, Neal wouldn’t have to leave Emma. August told Neal about the curse and he’s obviously believe it, so why did Neal have to leave Emma? He should have stayed with her, have the baby and eventually convince and tell her about her destiny. August instead teared them apart, destroy Emma life, love, hope. He’s a greedy dough bag and a liar.

I still want it…after Neal throws a few punches and Emma gets her claws into him because honestly, this show is REALLY lacking in the bromance department.

Neal may be the only kinda-sorta-friend August will have in town. If they’ve been in this together from the start, once Emma finds out about that, she’ll probably tell them they can have each other. And anyone who hurt Emma won’t be popular with the majority of the SB residents. Maybe they’ll get bromantic if they end up having to shack up together on the outskirts of town.
November 5, 2012 at 4:29 pm #159629TheGoldenKeyParticipantAnd again, this brings us back to shipping Bae (Neal) and Pino as Firewood. 😆

I’m trying really hard not to make a FireWood joke here…but really, I don’t think the whole town will band together to hunt them down just because they hurt Emma. Snow, Charming, and their friends maybe, but not all of the town is that invested in her beyond the fact that she was the one to break the curse.
November 5, 2012 at 4:59 pm #159634tinkerbellreturnsParticipantPhee, I really loved your theory about The Blue Fairy and August working together. I couldn’t help but think of the following conversation that could take place after Pino reported to TBF that Emma was getting cozy with a certain “Neal Cassady”. Please bear with me here! 😆
– Mother Superior.
– Can you talk?*looks around and lowers her voice*
– Yes. Any news?
– I did as you told me to.
– And?
– Nothing.
– What do you mean?
– Nothing. He has no record in the foster system.
– Names?
– No names. At least not real ones. But he has a long career in crime, it seems. Nothing serious though. Petty theft, shoplifting , traffic violation…
– Do you have his first record?
– I do. Charged with loitering.
– Read it for me.
– “Failed to provide any sort of identification when approached by police officer. Seemed disoriented and possibly intoxicated, although no illegal substance was found under his possession. Was wearing odd-looking clothes, including an olive hooded sweater and boots. Apparently 15 or 16 years old. Kept muttering something about a fire and his father, b–“
– Thanks, August.*a moment of silence*
– I need a moment. Can I get back to you?
– Sure. I’ll be waiting. As Mother Superior put down the phone, she felt a flutter in the pit of her stomach. Opening a drawer with trembling fingers, she searched for a specific parchment among the piles of paper inside. Pulling it out, she unfolded a gigantic map with a mass of forms representing different Realms, and little dots scattered all around them. If only magic worked in Storybrooke, she would be able to know exactly where that specific dot was, but tracking down magic beans in the absence of magic was, as the idle map proved, absolutely impossible.
She folded the map, her mind wandering. That boy had lost so much. Truth, he had managed to get to a land with no magic, but alone. All by himself all those years. And now he was not alone anymore, he had found Emma…
Mother Superior pondered: perhaps it was his chance to return home? Perhaps he was looking forward to it? Perhaps… and only perhaps… he would be willing to forgive his father, to forgive her for everything that had gone so awfully wrong?
She tried to swallow the lump in her throat. But what if he weren’t? What if the only thing he wanted was to… forget it all and start afresh?
With Emma.
In a land with no magic.
As she stood up, the Blue Fairy felt her limbs go numb. Those feelings… she had to get past them. She could no longer feel sorry, because she knew it was her job to do whatever it took to bring the curse to an end.
It was, after all, for the greater good.
As she picked the phone and dialed, she tried not to think of anything else but that.
– August?
– I’m hearing.
– You have to send him away. No matter what.
– But—
– Just do as I say. I will send you instructions through mail, and you will have to do exactly what I tell you to.*silence*
– OK.
As she put down the phone, she reached out for a piece of paper, staring at it for a while. Perhaps a certain drawing would do.
