I’m still not sure what I think about Rumple having been a lot boy (I like it but not convinced), but I think it’s possible August could have been a lost boy.
We don’t know much about Pinocchio/August after he left Emma in the Foster Home, but he was running away with a group of lost children for sure.
It would make sense that he has some interaction with Tinkerbell, which is how he knew about Neal being Baelfire. Since Blue Fairy/Mother Superior was cursed, August could have only learned about Neal through a Neverland connection. Maybe he was in league with PP in ways we don’t understand.
Since we’re back to little kid Pinocchio, I’m wondering if we might see flashbacks of him in Neverland. Technically, Pinocchio and Baelfire (and Hook) could have escaped Neverland at the same time (without ever knowing each other, it’s possible tho not likely).

I think after that THO kept a very close eye on him and used Pinocchio to do their bidding (metaphor alert! He’s a puppet after all). I think he was given orders to break up Neal and Emma and then ordered to go back to SB and make Emma believe in the Curse.

I do think that the kids in the foster home represent the kids that Pinocchio was with on Pleasure Island, and also that Phuket was his real world version of Pleasure Island, but he also had those things in the past, so the stuff in our world was sorta history repeating for him.
Definitely think it was someone from THO who put August on the case of breaking up SwanFire. Assuming Tink is able to realm jump, I reckon she’s the one who contacted him. He told Rumple that a fairy had given him the info. If he’d been in NL back in his puppet boy days, he’d recognise Tink, so it’d make sense for her to be the one tasked with meeting with him in our world, because then he’d have no doubt the the info and his orders were from a legit source.

I’m down for both!

I like it being a bigger conspiracy with Tinkerbelle though, but I’m not sure I like the idea that Bae and Emma were watched because someone knew they’d make Henry. My thinking gets into shipping stuff more so maybe I’ll explain it in Swanfire thread.

Also, we’ve seen Pinocchio and Gepetto escaping from Monstro, which was meant to happen immediately after the Pleasure Island part of the story. But then August does describe Phuket as an, “Amazing island, full of pleasures.” That boy never learns and can’t resist an island of promised pleasures.
Original version:
The Fairy promises that Pinocchio will be a real boy next day and says he should invite all his friends to a party. He goes to invite everyone, but he is sidetracked when he meets a boy nicknamed Lampwick who is about to go to a place called Toyland, where everyone plays all day and never works.
Disney version:
On his way back to Geppetto’s house, Pinocchio once again encounters Honest John and Gideon. They convince him that he is sick, and the only cure is to go to Pleasure Island as a vacation.
In Once, we’ve seen him get sidetracked from his task of helping Emma when another boy invited him on a trip, and then while in Phuket, he gets sick. It’s kind of a mashup of the other two versions.
What caused him to go to Pleasure Island/NL(?) in the Onceiverse is hopefully still to be told. It could add to Sneaky Fairy, because Blue was watching over Pinocchio, and if he was somehow accidentally on purpose “sent” to NL…that potentially has ramifications all the way to Blue actually not minding that Pinocchio went through the wardrobe, because it was actually part of the journey he was meant for, and a continuation of his grooming as an unwitting agent for THO, which had begun when she’d helped him go to NL for a little while.
August 29, 2013 at 12:11 pm #207170RumplesGirlKeymasterI think Pukhet could be a Pleasure Island for Adult August but the original Pleasure Island of wooden boy Pinocchio would be NL. I wonder if Pinocchio escaped NL by making a deal with PP, to work for him in the future. He was a young boy and far from home, often times they will say anything under duress. He may have thought nothing would ever come of it.
