Hmm. I just read in another forum that August apparently showed pain in a foot/leg when crossing the bridge another time? I don’t recall that, but I have missed a few bits and pieces.
Also, read about this guy: August von Haxthausen. Interestingly, apparently he was a friend … and an editor … of the Brothers Grimm. 😉

The first reason might be reconciled to the theory that August is Bae, since presumably, Bae could have been injured serving in the Ogre War. Yet, that doesn’t explain how Bae could be alive centuries later in SB. The second reason could be that August is actually Pinocchio and has some leftover wooden parts from his days as a puppet. Also, the idea that August says he never lies also resembles how Pinocchio said he never lied, but then did, as indicated by his growing nose. It was only when Pinocchio stopped telling lies that he became a “real boy” (which was hinted at in episode 16 when August said the stories were as real as him).
The idea that August could be both Bae and Pinocchio is interesting, but also full of difficulties. How do we explain the discontinuity between the ages and the hair colors? Bae had brown hair and was 13 last we saw him. Pinocchio was a boy of 7 and had red hair. Those are hard to reconcile in my mind.

EDIT: You can really see it in the scene where he and Emma are talking just before they find Kathryn.

What is August is Pinocchio and Bae?? This just occured to be the other day. The Blue Fairy changed wooden puppet Pinocchio into a real boy and it appears that she also had something to do with Rumple losing Bae. I’m wondering if this another one of those situations where they have taken some liberties with the fairy tale and had the Blue Fairy take Bae and turn him into a wooden puppet and give him to Gepetto. If August is, in fact, Pinocchio then he could also be Bae.
I don’t think he is Bae and Pinocchio. We’ve seen them both as children and they did not look alike!

He must REALLY be sentimental about the bike not to just hire one if he was telling the truth & they got Lemurs & monkeys confused – which well possible, I doubt (they could have put it in there to say nope, not Pinocchio, or to show he is actually lying & or hiding something, despite what hes said to Emma). .

Sweet Jesus, I hope Mr. Gold doesn’t end up killing him. 😯 😯 😯

OMG!!! ME TOO!!! I was afraid to say it out loud though! 😆 But I can’t help it…I love August. Hopefully, he’ll make it past the season finale. And even though I want August to be Rumpel’s son, I fear for his survival rate if it’s actually true. Rumpel’s loved ones always seem to suffer a tragic ending. 😥

Also, in episode 9, Emma said that Henry’s dad wasn’t as great a person as she told him. Every piece of dialogue is added to a TV show for a reason. After rewatching episode 9, I realised that they might put Henry’s dad in the show at one point. August appeared the same episode and seemed to act like a father to Henry…

I noticed it too.
I am sooo confused and think way too much about this character. Have no idea anymore who I think he may be. Its kinda sad when you find yourself playing sceens in slow motion looking for hints to see why his leg hurt. I did like the reference to the Billy Goats Gruff right before they walked down, however.
Only two more weeks to go!

Good to know I`m not the only one. 😆
I`ve given up trying to guess. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself until I end up back in front of my TV re-wachting more August scenes. 😀
