Again this is fourm post in another site.. that has a possible picture of Pinocchio in storybrooke eliminating the pinochio theory

The photo that person posted as being Pinocchio in Storybrooke is actually just one of the set photos from the filming of “The Stranger”. The full set of pics is here: http://storybrooke.net/photos/thumbnails.php?album=173 As you can see, they were shooting Faiytale scenes with Geppetto, Pinocchio, and the actors who voice Jiminy and the Blue Fairy were there too.

You know one thing I’ve wondered about since the very beginning of the show? Isn’t Gepetto a single man in, at least, the Disney version of Pinoccho? I don’t recall the story talking about a widower or maybe it just didn’t go into that much detail. But in the pilot episode when Emma is in jail in Storybrooke and (I can’t remember Gepetto’s SB name now, sorry) Gepetto is in the Sheriff’s office he makes a comment about how he wishes he had had children but he and his wife were never able to have children. I found the mention of his wife strange – where is this wife?? Is he a widower in SB??. It now makes me wonder. We are all getting stuck on August being Pinocchio AND the boy who found Emma on the side of the road because the newspaper clipping said that a “local” boy found Emma on the side of the road. What if both Gepetto and Pinocchio were in on the whole thing from the beginning and there was a “wife” on the outside world who was somehow arranged to raise Pinocchio so they could keep their eye on Emma. This could explain the “local boy” documentation – if he had a “mother” in the real world no one would know that two children actually appeared on the side of the road at the same time. And I’m gonna go out on a limb here. Kitsis and Horowitz said something like it would be sad if we never saw this character again – what if the mother was . . . Maleficent??? After all she did not want the EQ to enact the Dark Curse and warned her about the effect it would have on her. Even though Maleficent and the EQ appeared to be frenemies, she seems like someone that Rumple would use – someone that he would be able to convince would come out on top in some way if she would help him.

I don’t necessarily think the pictures discount the Pinocchio theory. The pictures could simply be showing the backstory of Pinocchio – which would actually make me more likely to think that August is Pinocchio.

This was a theory That august is Augustus Le Plongeon Augustus was 19th century traveler and writer who claimed their was a lost continent of “Lemuria” … lemurs anyone?

That’s quite interesting! Even mentions Nepal. I’d figured he was named August after a close friend of the Grimm brothers, August von Haxthausen, who helped them with their story gathering and writing, but this Lemuria guy is a possibility too.

I believe that is a behind-the-sceens photo of Pinocchio in FTL. The only reason he’s wearing a modern-day coat is because it was cold outside the day of filming. If you look at his hat and clothes underneath though, it seems like those are part of the Pinocchio costume in FTL. Click to see images:
Also, the actor is dressed in the same Pinocchio costume that the puppet is wearing when Geppetto finds it, which is certainly placing it in the FTL back-story.

Geppetto didn’t have a wife in any version of the tale, (and we’ve seen no indication of a wife in Storybrooke). I just figured what Marco said to Emma was the story he believed from his implanted memories. Makes him miserable if he believes that he’s lost a wife AND that they never had a child, and Regina’s all about making people miserable coz they don’t have their happy ending.

BTW, from Geppetto’s wiki page: “Geppetto is introduced when carpenter Mister Antonio finds a talking block of pinewood which he was about to carve into a leg for his table. Geppetto drops by looking for a piece of wood to build a marionette, seeing a perfect opportunity, Antonio gives the block to Geppetto.” So it wouldn’t be veering much from the original tale if our version of Pinocchio had been carved from part of the magical tree.

That is interesting. It still seems pretty strange that they wouldn’t cut down the whole tree, but who knows maybe Pinocchio was just made out of a branch or something.

And this thread is being really spoilery. Maybe you shouldn’t post pictures in the thread.
