It does bother me that Emma cared more about getting Hook back then saving her parents, but it was hardly surprising given that she has already taken her whole family (and a blackmailed Rumple) into to hell to save Hook from what was for him a reasonably heroic death.
Basically this. This show is really trying very hard to make this CS ship work.

What I don’t understand is why Emma went along with the idea. Snow was sleeping, Emma could have and should have used the flower on her parents and woke them up but instead she sacrifices her parents lives to go after Hook.
We really needed a scene of Emma struggling with that choice, of discussing it with Regina and the others. I get that Emma wants to save Hook, that’s perfectly natural. But this shouldn’t have been a wham-bam-thank you ma’am kind of choice. When the writers forgo these kinds of internal angst it makes their characters look callous, cold, and–to be blunt–stupid.

It is the end of Season 3 all over again. Rumpel only cares about finding Bae and being reunited with Bae. Rumpel doesn’t care about the curse being broken. I could see Rumpel trying to convince Snow and Charming to take the potion, but why would he take it? He could have easily not taken the potion and just gone looking for Bae on his own. There was no reason for him to forget again.
I, sort of, get Snow and Charming’s choice though i think the way they talk about it is pretty ridiculous. They actually talk about it like they are doing the right thing as if both of the choices aren’t terrible. It was a good scene comparatively to how bad this show has become, but how Snow and Charming were talking about their decision still didn’t exactly work.
Like others have said, Snow was going to go with Emma anyways. That was the plan, so go now Snow. It just doesn’t actually make any sense.

I mean i was literally yelling at my TV, pick your parents and I actually thought she would. But nope she goes after Hook and says sorry guys you will have to stay asleep forever.

Their choice totally makes sense. It’s the same one they made in the Pilot when Snow gave Emma to Charming and told him to run with her to the wardrobe. And it’s the first time in a long time that Snow felt like Snow White. The entire scenario, this giant retcon of S1, is where I have some pretty glaring issues because it’s wholly unnecessary.

It isn’t the same choice. The choice in the pilot was send Emma through the wardrobe or have a dead Emma. That isn’t really a choice. They also wanted to go with Emma in the pilot. Snow was going to go through the wardrobe while she was pregnant, so that she could be with Emma after she was born and while she grew up. She slapped Geppetto when she found out she could have gone. Snow was very upset about all that. Emma was the savior because of the blood on the curse not because of the age she was when she would break it.
This choice is just completely different. This choice was actually go be with Emma or stay away from here so that she could grow up alone just to later break the curse. I think that is an entirely different choice and i am not convinced that it is that simple as what they did was right. I, honestly, don’t know that they made the right choice especially since they were completely incorrect about how they were talking about the curse.
I liked the scene on sort of an emotional level, but it was always incorrect that they chose to save everyone else at the expense of Emma. It is still incorrect. They chose to send Emma through the wardrobe because Regina was going to kill her and that was her only chance at life.

But they know for a fact they will be reunited with her. Its not like they are entirely sacrificing her. If they wait another ten years, they get their daughter and savee everyone else. If they go to her now, they get emma, but thousands (millions? billions? how many people are in SB??????) will suffer and it seems to be saying that they wont be able to save them. Again, August told Neal he had to back off so that Emma could become the savior. I’m sure its the same for Snowing. Destiny probably has it that that is the way it has to be.
Who knows, maybe its savior mythology or something.

I didn’t really think the writers would tamper with season one, but of course, they did, and Snow and Charming were awake because of a pixie flower. Are you flipping kidding me? There was no magic in A Land Without Magic, so how on Earth did a pixie flower magically spring out of the ground? Why then? How? I know my questions are utterly pointless. And don’t get me started on how stupid it was for Snow to insist that Emma use the pixie flower to find Hook. Snow already left her infant son to follow Emma to the UW to save the pirate after he tried to kill everyone. Sure, Snow, another great parenting decision. You take that risk of you and your husband being in a coma forever; never mind that you could have left yet another child a de facto orphan. And Emma? Seriously? I know she is severely codependent with Hook now, but she doesn’t seem to care at all about her family anymore. She only seems to care about Hook.

I understand what you are saying. It is just completely inconsistent with what happened in Season 1 and 2. There was no suggestion that Emma couldn’t grow up with her parents and still be the savior. With Neal, the idea was that if Emma found home with him, then she would stop searching and then she would never find Storybrooke. She would settle down. There is also no evidence that August was correct either.
Also, this situation is completely different. Snow and Charming would know about the curse. If Emma had to be 28 when she breaks it then just go be with her, raise her, then when she turns 28 take her to Storybrooke and break the curse. Simple as that. Simpler because they could tell her about it before the time came, so there could be less need to convince her. They could raise her in full knowledge of her destiny.
April 16, 2017 at 11:33 pm #336273hjbauParticipantAlso, the entire first season and second season was we sent you through the wardrobe so that they could give Emma her best chance. Snow and Emma actually have this exact conversation in 201. They get in an argument about Snow sending Emma to save everyone else and Snow says no we sent you because it was your best chance, paralleling that Emma gave up Henry because it was his best chance.
Like i said, i liked the emotion of the scene a lot, but it is just completely inconsistent with Season 1 and 2 and so their decision makes no sense because of the inconsistency. They changed how the curse worked, how the savior worked, everything to create a different choice then the original choice and then tried to pretend that it was the original choice when it was different.
