Here’s an amazing link which does a much better job than I could of speulating about the New York stranger, his identity, and the objects in his apartment.

This new man looks to be in his 20s or 30s. If he’s Bae, then it would mean that Bae came to our world about halfway through Storybrooke’s existence.
Remember that in “Desperate Souls,” Bae turned 14 and the curse was in place for 28 years. So if Rumplestiltskin designed the curse to take everyone to when Bae came through, then Bae would be 42 years old.
But I don’t think there’s enough evidence that Rumplestiltskin designed the curse with perfect accuracy in its target timing. So everyone may have come 14 years before Bae.
(Isn’t interested that 28 is double Bae’s age when he went down the bean hole?)
October 1, 2012 at 12:55 pm #154858lilredParticipantThanks for that link, slurpeez. I had just started making my own list this morning and that filled in a lot of things I had questions about.
It didn’t cover the one area I’m most interested in, and I can’t find it anywhere. The poster of the red fist, what appears to be a tudor rose on the wrist, surrounded by a wreath.
Still searching for that online.
There is a landscape poster over his bed – can’t read the script across the poster but there are mountains and desert visible. Honestly, reminds me of a picture I took in New Mexico awhile back.
A detail that really stood out after my repeated ‘pause-fest’ this morning was the different light sources in the room. Two standing lights – opposite of each other in the room. I’m pretty certain that on top of the first bookshelf, around the clocks, are two candle holders. On the other side of the room, on a hanging shelf, there is another. All three of black.
He had three *journals* stacked on his desk, all the same. With the dream catcher in the same shot, just behind, it seems to me he may keep dream journals. From what I remember from past psych classes, this is a way of dealing with incredibly traumatic events.

In the chat last night, I think that was the thing that a few people thought was a rune. I’m not sure though because that was around 1:00 here, and my brain wasn’t working that well at that time.
I love either idea though because I believe that it’s a Tudor rose that is a tattoo on Emma’s wrist.

Good catch, I didn’t even notice it on the hundreds of times I’ve already watched the opening. Maybe Emma and Bae had a dream to escape out west which is why she ended up in Phoenix.

Yes, I just wanted to give him big hug. He still seems to have the worst luck even in this world, and it makes sense that he’d still have nightmares over his father letting him go through the vortex alone.
I guess he’s doing okay for himself though in his business type of job, but compared to his father who has a big house, Cadillac, and even a true love, he seemed that Bae keeps paying some kind of karmic price for things that his father did. Speaking of his dad, on my last rewatch in trying to see the poster above his bed, I noticed his tie. Does Rumple have any ties like that? I know that the backpack and the way that he set it down tied he and Henry together, but I was wondering if perhaps the suit and/or the tie may been a way of connecting Rumple and Bae.
October 1, 2012 at 3:30 pm #154881TheGoldenKeyParticipantI’ve believed since last Feb. that Bae is Peter Pan and now Henry’s father as well. Here is my theory:
The motivation for J.M. Barrie writing Peter Pan was the death of his 13 year old brother. His brother died 2 days before his 14th birthday. Note that Bae was 14 when he disappeared.
Barrie called Peter and the children of Neverland `lost boys`. This was in reference to parents that had lost children to death, as his mother had. Note that Rumples ALWAYS refers to Bae as being `lost`.
Peter Pan and the other lost boys were caught between two worlds. Life & death. Note that Bae is caught between two worlds, magic & real world.
The Blue Fairy instructs Bae to follow the magic bean wherever it leads him. This leads us to believe that he went to at least one other world before reaching ours.
Robert Carlyle has admitted that Rumples is several centuries old. So timeline for Bae going missing is many centuries as well, as he went through the vortex when Rumples first took power. The 1st and 2nd Ogre Wars also show us that time frame. This was long before Snow, PC, EQ, Gepetto, Jiminy, etc. So, considering that Bae is several centuries old, it would make sense if he landed in Neverland and remained 14 prior to coming to the real world.
Peter Pan would travel to the real world and bring children back to Neverland. Emma was an orphan, living in an orphanage. What if Peter traveled there looking for `lost boys`. Bae had a friend Morraine back in FTL. I believe a young Emma would have resembled Morraine in many ways. Perhaps Peter became quite taken with Emma and decided to stay. Perhaps Emma convinced him to stay, just as Wendy attempted to do in the original story. Perhaps he ended up in that same orphanage from 14 on, developed a friendship with Emma that ended in their late teens. That could also bring into play the possibility of Bae, aka Peter Pan, being Henry`s father.
We now have Captain Hook in SB. K&H also stated that we would find out about Bae this season as we would about Henry`s father. Funny how they have brought Michael Raymond-James in, with a recurring role, and have been so secretive about his character. Let`s not forget how uncanny his resemblance is to Dylan Schmid, young Baelfire.
This has been my theory since last February that Bae would end up as Peter Pan. Recent spoilers have only convinced more. In Season 2 stills, we see Henry floating outside his window. Coincidence? I don’t think so. I think he inherited his father’s special gift of flying. In the upcoming issue of TV Guide, Josh Dallas says this about Emma & Henry’s father: “there is a certain percentage of this man that Emma knows, and a certain part that she doesn’t. She had some sort of relationship with him, but there is an element of surprise for Emma as to the fullness of who this man is.” This would follow my theory of Peter Pan showing up at Emma’s orphanage at 14 and remaining for a number of years. She knows him as an adolescent/young adult from the orphanage but has no idea of his Fairy Tale character.
In the episode The Stranger, I always though it odd that AWB kniew to call Gold Papa when he himself called Gepetto Father. Who told him that’s what Bae called Rumple? The Blue Fairy? Possibly, however, I believe that somewhere, either in the orphanage or out in the real world, Bae & AWB met and that’s how AWB knows so much about Rumple. Even if AWB is now turned to wood, he certainly could have relayed info about Bae to the Blue Fairy, or Jefferson (yeah, I believe there’s a connection with Jefferson/Bae/AWB) or even Henry during Operation Cobra. AWB made provinsions to make sure that someone knew about Bae’s existance & whereabouts should he not be able to notify him himself.

October 1, 2012 at 3:50 pm #154882angiebelleParticipantI think he is an adult Bae who has somehow met up with and communicated with August. I never did fully accept the concept that August was talking to Henry when he was on the phone last season! It can’t be Rumple if the man is Bae because Rumple still doesn’t know where Bae is.
Maybe fairytale characters out in our world are drawn to each other?
I could also buy the theory that he is a Peter Pan who ended up in our world and grew up- but I like the Bae/Henry’s father theory best.

.Wouldn’t that imply that Emma lied to henry completely about how she and the dad met, though? Emma says he was a firefighter and frequented the diner where she worked as a teen–I’m pretty sure she even confirms that’s how they met. If Peter/Bae met Emma in the orphanage, then they did in fact not meet how she described it to Henry.
That’s not to say that the writers could have just had her lie completely and used it as a red herring, but something in me tells me that Emma was partially truthful with her story.
At the end, it’s all fair game. I’ve been pretty vocal about detesting the Bae/father theory, but I’m bracing myself for the worst at this point. If it happens, I want it to be done right.
With all this said and done, I still am hard pressed to believe that the NY stranger is Bae. I just can’t fully buy it (regardless of my dislike of that theory).
October 1, 2012 at 4:02 pm #154886malchoreParticipantThe monocles are suspicious. You think the post card could have been sent by Jefferson to the White Rabbit?
Actually that whole “Alice in Wonderland” episode tossed me into a bizzaro world. That was a completely different realm from the Enchanted Forest (FTL.) So how did Regina’s curse extend into a different realm? AND pull in exactly one person from that realm? That’s one of about a dozen outstanding brain twisters from season 1 waiting for an explanation.

Yea, that’s stumped me as well. The more I think about it, the more of a plot hole I think it is. Wonderland really shouldn’t have been affected by the curse…like, at all. Does that mean that some place like Neverland, another “realm” altogether as well, was also affected? I highly doubt it, since we never met any Neverland characters before, and it does suggest that Hook arrives from the “outside”…no?
October 1, 2012 at 4:15 pm #154891TheGoldenKeyParticipantCan’t remember where I read it, but in an interview with K&H, they said other worlds were also affected by the dark curse. So it’s not just the enchanted forest/kingdom. I think they’ve all collided via the curse and they’re all spread out throughout various kingdoms now.
