I realize that I am coming into this late, and I’m sorry that I didn’t have time to read the rest of the entries, but I’m in a time crunch and I wanted to get these questions/theories out before they have left my head. I think the man in New York was Bae…and HENRY’S FATHER. The writers have alluded to the fact that his father is someone we have already seen, and he had to be someone in the real world. Who else could his father be? Not August or surely Emma would have recognized him. I heard a few mention that perhaps the person thaT sent the pigeon with the postcard to our mystery man was Regina, but do you think Regina knows where Bae is? I think it could be the blue fairy. She is the one who knows where he went because she helped him escape after his father broke his promise. I also think that he is the one that August was calling, hence the phone by his window. Why in the world would someone with a cell phone in a NYC apartment have a land line phone? Am I wrong? I’m 32 and got rid of my land line phone a few months after I got my first cell phone in college. ALSO…if he is Bae…do any of the True Blood fans recognize him as the serial killer Renee??? Every time I see him now I imagine him with a cajun accent killing vamp lovers. Unreal. I’m sorry for rambling. Thanks you guys!

The picture framed on the wall seems to stand out to me and also the wooden shoes hanging.. sup with that? http://tvline.com/2012/09/30/once-upon-a-time-season-2-who-is-nyc-mystery-man/

Especially if he was in Neverland he would remain a boy. The only thing that bothers me is if Bae was with Emma why would he leave her! I’m hoping he has a good explanation!
October 1, 2012 at 8:35 pm #154951antbeeParticipantI can’t believe how fast this turned into the Pinocchio thing all over again with it being a Bae vs. White Rabbit debate. I remember I was burned that time because I wanted August to be Bae so badly, but that’s another reason I think that Mysterious Man has to be Bae because I think they’re smart enough to not use that trick again and piss everyone off again.
I could definitely be wrong, but the biggest reason that I think it’s Bae is that I don’t think they’d introduce a character like the White Rabbit in the season 2 premiere in modern day NYC. I think the opening spot of the season would be reserved for a character of great importance to the overall mythos of the show like how people are comparing mysterious man to how Desmond was introduced on Lost. I guess the White Rabbit could become important, but we already know how important Bae is to the show and that he’s outside of Storybrooke, and that we’d see him this season, so I think it has to be him.
Anyhow, I found this at TVLine’s website for the explanation about the red hand thing,
One more thing. On the artwork with the red hand and the watch….could be a mash-up. “RED HAND” + “WATCH” yields the name of a campaign called… the “Red hand watch.” Catch this….to draw attention and relief to the plight of child soldiers. DEFINITELY sounds like the Baelfire issue that started Rumple’s path to being the Dark One. Remember the Ogre Wars? Children were being drafted into conflict. Deep thoughts, folks.
We try to be meticulous with the production design, so… yes, there’s stuff in the apartment specific to the character,” says Horowitz. Adds Kitsis: “There’s one thing in there in particular … I’m not going to say what it is…. that has very significant meaning.”

For me, that red hand thing is the one thing in particular that has a significant meaning to the Mystery Man’s identity because it sticks right out when the Mystery Man first enters his apartment. Plus, when I first watched the episode, I was immediately struck with the idea that Mystery Man has it in his apartment because it reminds him of his dad letting go of him and breaking their deal.
Of course, it could have a different meaning that is significant to the character whether it be because there’s some kind of symbol on there or secret message, but that seemed like the most personal thing that the character owns. I mean his apartment is just full of a lot of old crap, It’s also very dark looking place, and that artwork is the only thing that gives his apartment a pop of color because everything else looks so faded and old.
October 1, 2012 at 8:43 pm #154953PriceofMagicParticipantWhen the mysterious man walks through his front door, by the side of his shelving unit, there is something partially hidden. Depending on how you look at it, it either reads:
?NSNO
or
ONSN?The letters shown look the same either way but would be in a different order. Anyone have any guesses what this could mean?

Keeper of FelixOctober 1, 2012 at 9:02 pm #154958timberumpParticipantThe sign in the New York apartment said “Cleaner and Hatters”, there was also a picture of a heart (human heart) right beside his window that I didn’t notice last night. Did anyone notice the old microphone looking things on his top shelf when he was trying to close the window? I am drawing blanks on what all of this means.
October 1, 2012 at 11:53 pm #154981bill1017ParticipantSo does the apartment belong to the mystery man?
The cloths on the hangers and the decor do not match him. I think he went there to visit someone.
Other clue in this regard is the woman’s bowling trophy.
The other odd thing in the room is what looks like Ham Radio equipment? And why 5 (maybe 6) microphones?

October 2, 2012 at 12:31 am #154989nonnieParticipantI am reposting my thoughts on BAE from a previous post on another thread:
I think it was BLUE FAIRY who sent the note and kept BAE updated as to what was happening in Storybrook and with his father.
She sent him to A PLACE WITHOUT MAGIC. I think she discovered a way to communicate with BAE ( internet/computer)
I think FTL characters have affinity for each other and are able to track each other down in the real world / StoryBrooke and every where else. That is why August could find StoryBrooke.
I also think August and Bae had known each other in the real world prior to StoryBrooke activated. That was how August knew the story of Rumple/ the blade and the Dark One. Maybe Bae and August were the LOST BOYS, part of the group of boys that ran away from the foster home. They came together over time as run-aways and disenfranchised kids tend to do.
Nonnie,
