GoldenKey, I have heard the Whale as Peter theory a lot and had always dismissed it until this. You make some really good points (and I must say i’m impressed with the amount of research you do with just about any theory you comment on). There’s only one thing that makes me think he’s more likely to be Frankie. Okay, maybe it’s more like two.
First off, his reveal is in the Halloween epp if he was peter, that’s not the best timeing. It fits with the Frankie theroy more.
And in Broken, when he went to strangle Regina, that’s something that comes from pure grown-up rage (you don’t see that in children). If he was peter, he would have done it in something of a more trickster way, probably with a lot of teasing involved. Strangulation, however, was a favorite method of Frankie’s monster.

@Faux Pax… Do you have children?
October 4, 2012 at 6:20 pm #155440faux paxParticipant@kalliopeKisees No, i don’t. I’m just going by the characterisation of peter i’ve seen in the movies, particularly in the live action movie that came out about six or seven years ago.
I don’t think i like the rabbit hole idea. There are too many things going on now to include another character with a major plot point (and considering he had the opening scene of the premier, i think it’s safe to say that he’s pretty important). Him being Bae would tie it together so well.
I think a lot of people are against the him as Bae/Henry’s dad theory because so many people on these forums already have guessed it. But keep in mind we are a small, strange subset of the fandom. There are so many theories here that SOMEONE has to be right. I just think with all the clues K&H have dropped and all the opportunities for drama it presents, it would be a waste NOT to have him be Bae.
October 4, 2012 at 6:51 pm #155441TheGoldenKeyParticipant@Faux Pax, gee thanks for the compliment 🙂 Rest assured, I’m still Team Frankie. I’m not big on Whale being Pan, only saying that it wouldn’t surprise me.
@Faux Pax & Kalliopkisees, I was always under the impression that Jefferson was the White Rabbit. He jumps portals/realms and guides many through them. Dual FT personality just like Rumple/Beast and Red/Big Bad Wolf.
I desperately want to see MRJ turn out to be Bae. Certainly seems like he’ll be Henry’s father though. Too coincidental that they played Lou Reed’s Charley’s Girl during the intro. The song is all about a gal who turned them into the cops for drugs most likely. Sound anything like a pretty bail bondsman we know?
PS how do you blackout portions of your posts that could be spoilers?

October 4, 2012 at 7:08 pm #155443kalliopekiseesParticipant@ The Golden Key, Jefferson is the Mad Hatter. The Mad hatter and the White Rabbit are two separate Characters (In the books). For the block box, highlight the section you want to make a spoiler and click the spoiler button.
@ Faux Pax.. I’m invested in Bae being Pan. If the new Stranger is Bae, than I hope he is also Pan. Although, I did hearsomewhere that Bae is not supposed to make an appearance till later this season. The new stranger’s apartment reminded me of a cluttered rabbit hole or the great OZ for some reason. I’m not sure about Whale…. The Frankie theory is pretty solid, but how does the name apply? And I’ll have to review the points leading people to speculate Whale being Pan. I always felt his name might have a tie to Wales and possibly the druids, or Merlin. But the Frankie theory changed my mind.
The reason I asked about children… I have a toddler and let me tell you when they get angry, watch out! Children will bite, slap, throw, yell, and possibly strangle. LOL. However, they will also kiss, hug, and continually melt your heart.

October 4, 2012 at 7:23 pm #155446shery0812ParticipantI actually think I’m in the minority. I’m pretty sure everyone–both outside and inside the forum–really likes the idea of Bae being Henry’s dad. I certainly don’t, and I have delineated my reasons in other threads.
One thing to note–it was mentioned earlier that the writers claimed we would be finding out what happened to Baelfire in this season, though they didn’t necessarily say we’d actually meet him or see his face. What does everyone think? Am I just splitting hairs or could the clever word choice have significance? I don’t know how we’d find out more about the character without actually re-introducing him officially, but I wouldn’t put it past the writers to work some magic (no pun intended).
Also, it’s interesting that they specifically said we would be finding out what happened to him. Well, we do know, to a certain extent, what happened. He got thrown into this world. We just haven’t seen him yet. Unless…something else happened to Bae?…
Yes, I am still grasping at the neverland theory. I want it to be true, dang flabbit. 😆
October 4, 2012 at 7:28 pm #155447TheGoldenKeyParticipantThanks for the spoiler tip. Couldn’t quite figure out how to do that.
Re: Jefferson. Yes, he’s the Mad Hatter but he is also the fellow who you follow to portal to other realms. Just as one followed the White Rabbit. It wouldn’t be out of the norm for him to have two fairy tale characters as Mr. Gold is both Rumple and the Beast and Ruby is both Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.
Regarding the Frankie theory. the name Whale applies to the James Whale who did the 1931 Frankenstein movie as well as Bride of Frankenstein. James Whale was also depicted in the 1991 movie Gods & Monsters.
As for the Pan/Whale reference, I posted an explanation on page 8 of this thread. It came from the movie Neverland which was about J.M. Barrie the author of Peter Pan.
Re: Bae, the writer’s didn’t say we would see Bae later this year, what they said was that we would “find out what happened to Bae” later this year. So that could mean we see Bae but don't know his identity until Nov/Dec. Just like with August Wayne Booth.
Hope that helps 🙂

Wish the writers would stop messing with us and tell us where he is already! 😡
October 4, 2012 at 10:44 pm #155471antbeeParticipantSo many things to comment on.
First, I found some other hints that point towards Bae that I didn’t catch. The obvious one is how the “fire” escape was a big part of his introduction, and we know that they love to hint at Bae’s presence by the using the word fire somehow or by showing fire like in the People magazine spread.
The other clue was in the song, “Charley’s Girl”. “I’m gonna punch her face in” is very similar, imo, to how Emma’s comment later on to Rumple about just punching his face in. Plus, I think that something like the scenario in “Charley’s Girl” happened between Emma and Bae. Maybe she thought he turned her in, or he thought she turned him in for something, but something happened that lead to one of both of them going to jail and probably thinking that the other one was the cause.
Second, I guess the comments about Bae and August were deleted for being naughty, lol. I don’t know if they roomed together, but I could see Bae helping August out with money and what not, and maybe August helped fix up Bae’s old junk. Plus, I really don’t know if August was really a writer, but now that I’ve seen Mysterious Man’s apartment and compared it to his Gold’s pawnshop, I think it’s a good possibility that Bae was the one that lent/gave August the typewriter. It seems more of a Bae hoarder/collector thing than really being August’s to me, and because Bae’s apartment and his dad’s shop mirror each other, it wouldn’t be that surprising that Bae owned the old typewriter first because there’s also an old typewriter in his dad’s shop.
There were other things that I noticed mirror each other. (In fact, until episode 6 finally airs, I can see myself making a chart to see what items each room has in common and including Henry’s room in it too.) Right now though, I wanted to write about few other similarities between the two places. One is that I they chose the “Bike Ride” poster in Bae’s apartment as a way of mirroring the bicycles that are hanging in the pawnshop. Another one is that the pawnshop also contains vintage items relating to music like the gramophone and a very old fashioned radio, not to mention all the musical instruments hanging up. Yes, the rooms aren’t exact replicas of each other, but I think the wonderful art direction is just to evoke the same kind of feel that these men are related to each other.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. What bothers me though, is why would they give the White ribbat such an important introduction as the opening scene? I mean in a lot of ways it mirrors what we saw of Emma in the first epp.
Yes, I’ve seen a lot of people saying that he’s the White Rabbit, and even say the actor looks like a bunny (I don’t know if that’s good or bad), and while I don’t think he is, it’s possible that the writers either are trying to fool people into thinking that he isn’t Bae like the whole August thing again, or they mean for us to catch the Alice in Wonderland hints just like how Henry has been like Sleeping Beauty or Emma like Prince Phillip, even though they’re all original characters, it doesn’t mean that the writers can’t have them do something that parallels an already existing story. I think he has to be Bae though and not just the White Rabbit because I agree that I don’t think that they would use the introductory scene of the new scene to be a minor character like the White Rabbit especially with so many connections between the opening scene of season 1, the use of Snowing’s bird, and the Beauty and the Beast hint. (I really wished they would have kept the doves in “Skin Deep”, so it would be another connection to Rumple.)
Finally, I think the mysterious trophy in mysterious man’s apartment is probably a women’s bowling trophy(?) as other sites have stated, but someone suggested that it could be a bocce ball trophy since he lives in Little Italy. I don’t believe it is a bocce ball trophy, but I thought it was interesting that in that game the smaller ball is called a “jack”.
