A personal attack is when you talk about me instead of the subject which is what you keep doing, so that is all that can be said i guess. I keep trying to steer back to the topic which is Rumpel and the actor and not to myself or to you, but that didn’t work. You just keep talking about me and what you think i think so then it comes to thanks for your thoughts and that’s it.
No hard feelings on my part.

I think he may very well be a bastard. I’m anxious to meet Rumpel’s wife via flashbacks. She may have had something to do with Rumpel’s “coward label.” Maybe she left him because of it. Or maybe the evil Duke killed her. The way he was taunting Rumpel made it seem like he knew exactly what happened to her. I hope I’m wrong though.
Just for the love of God, don’t let it be Cora! 😯 Rumpel’s backstory is sad enough. 🙁

So, I was watching this episode again and one of the guards mentioned that Bae might not even be Rumpel’s son because Bae was braver than him. I know this is probably because he was mocking him, but he also mentioned that Bae was a bastard.
So does this mean that Rumpel had a wife because he got her pregnant? Is Bae even his son?
What do you guys think?
The things that happen to you is what makes you who you are. A man that takes on, protects and loves the child of another man, is a REAL MAN. I feel that regardless of who fathered Bae, Rumple is his father in every sense of the word.
The story will unravel in time. I think it will be an interesting story to follow.

Trust me, I believe that Rumpel is as much as a father to Bae as any father, but I mean’t biologically. 🙂
This might sound selfish for Rumpel’s character, but I kind of wish that Rumpel didn’t love his first wife because I feel like it would somewhat diminish the love he has for Belle. Like, he wouldn’t be with her if his first wife never ran away.

I completely agree. It take s a lot to raise a child that you know in your heart probably isn’t yours (if that’s the case). I don’t doubt for one second Rumpel’s love for Baelfire. It’s quite obvious that he loves him. Almost too much.
The_Savior, I feel the exact same way! Don’t be ashamed! 😆 Fortunately, the way Rumpel and the evil duke both spoke about her made me think that they had a very turbulent relationship. So, there was probably very little love involved. Especially if the rumors about his wife leaving him for another man are true. And besides, it’s already been established that Belle is Rumpel’s true love via the kiss in “Skin Deep.” So, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. 😀

This brings up a good point- can a person only have one true love? Or, if someone’s true love dies, is it possible for them to have another (after they’re mourned the first one)?

I think it can work in a tv series if the audience doesn’t see too much of the first spouse, and therefore doesn’t get emotionally involved. I’m thinking of “The Nanny, ” in which a widower who was very happy in his marriage gradually falls in love again. It takes years before he finally allows himself to love again. There was an episode in which the widower has a “talk ” with the ghost of his first wife, and she encourages him to commit to the new love : she even says, “I sent her to you.” So if we see one or two episodes of a happy Rumple marriage, it will be okay, especially if we’re shown that wife #1 would want Rumple not to be lonely.
Now as to whether there can be multiple true loves magic -wise : when love #2 is a child, sure 😛
I suspect if #2 is another romantic love, no.May 30, 2012 at 6:40 pm #148083the_saviorParticipantYea, the whole thing with Snow White not remembering she loved Charming in 01.16 and true love’s kiss not working almost frightens me, like, if Rumpel goes back to his old ways and Belle falls out of love with him, making it so she can’t break his curse anymore. 🙁
That’s why I hope you can only have one “true” romantic love. The way Regina talks about how she can never love again because Daniel died makes me believe that you can’t have another “true” love.
May 30, 2012 at 11:15 pm #148099thewendybirdParticipantMay I just say from personal experience…one can often think they’ve found true love and be totally off….Most of the time you don’t truly realize what true love is until you finally do find it. Then you look back and you are all “What was that???” I believe you can love multiple people in your life…but i do believe everyone has a true love. I think if Rumple loved his first wife and had still been with her..the fact of the matter is there is true love…a deeper more soulful connection. People sometimes marry the wrong person IMO. Doesn’t make them the true love. Not saying anyone should go out and get a divorce now..just saying that….often times….you either rush into things willy nilly based off infatuation or you are in a selfish relationship…..later on you find true love….real selfless love and you realize just how off and practically rare it is.
This conversation is reminding me of what the Prince was saying in the movie Ever After..absolutely hilarious.
