Does time in Fairy Tale Land operate differently than from our world? My idea is based on that idea.
I do like the idea of Bae being Peter Pan if only because according to Wikipedia Barrie had originally called our land as mainland essentially noting that neverland was a physical island offshore Britain (in the sea or sky not sure) so that would mean that Neverland existed in our world.
From what I assume is that our world is without magic. However more specifically it is without FairyTale Land’s magic but that does not mean we do not have our own magic. We do have supernatural and paranormal creatures (fairies, imps, the Coyote from mythology–though I think of Charles DeLint’s character of Jack) and humans do have some ability but its more in the tapping of the elements and the source rather than actual physical manipulation.
So if Bae is Peter Pan he may have stayed in Neverland and met Wendy. Falling in love meant he would give up his staying there with the hope of a reunion with Rumple.
The timeline I am using is based on the belief that because Bae left soon after Rumple turned to a dark one, and Rumple was a dark one for a few centuries… though I am using Robert’s interviewand realize that it might not be canon but moving on…
Bae entered our world in the 1700s or so and found Neverland. He stayed until Wendy met Peter Pan during the early 1900s. Especially since towards the end of the books (or movies) Wendy mentions wanting Peter to talk to her parents about something very sweet which I believe was an engagement then marriage. Wendy was about 12 when she went to Neverland making her about a couple years younger then Bae (well when he entered Neverland he would have been 14).
If the story was published in 1911 I am using that as a way of estimating when Wendy was born and when Bae would have been born (not real age but age that he stopped growing). Wendy would have been born late 1800 (around 1899 possibly 1900) with Bae being “born” a couple years earlier.
For the life expectancy it is possible that depending on the climate in Britain in that time (since there was a very serious outbreak of influenza in the early 1900s and serious sanitation issues in that time–like no one cleaned horse excrement etc. It was that bad–all of this could weaken an immune system), then add the expectations of family (is a woman expected to have a lot of children) then Wendy more than likely lived to around 40 to 50 years of age and Bae may have lived to around 50 or 60. (Also I am basing these life expectancies on my own family genealogy where in those times it was common to have men and women live to about 40 and 50 years in age possibly longer if fortunate).
However other possibilities aside from Peter Pan is that it may be possible that Bae drank from the fountain of youth periodically throughout his life which has a connection to Florida.
Another possibility is that this could something where he had heard about eternal youth and/or immortality back when our world was more rooted in magic. I believe that in past centuries ago our world and other worlds were more closely connected and possibly to the point that our world would have artifacts with magic from Fairy Tale Land. What may have happened is that Bae was cursed with eternal youth (or slowed aging for instance). It was not until meeting Wendy did her true love’s kiss free Bae from the curse. Bae in turn could have accepted it and believe that he and his father would never reunite.
What I especially love about the curse idea is that it parallels Rumpel and Belle quite nicely. In Bae’s case he was courageous enough to give up his “power” for true love.
I also would not mind it as a plot point where we see that Bae had broken the curse a long while ago. We are constantly told that magic has a price and what bigger price would be that then for Rumpel to know that he essentially abandoned his son and his son grew up, fell in love and lived his life knowing this and never knowing that Rumpel did not give up. A scene that keeps playing in my mind is where see Rumpel stand in front of his son’s grave and him devastated and muttering “magic always comes with a price.”
And if Bae does turn up to have passed away years ago that we might then meet a descendent of Bae.

I think that would be a big let down after all the buildup…..he is Rumplestiltsknin’s motivation, the reason for the Dark Curse and in turn, the reason for the show.
I do believe Bae is Peter Pan and Neal Cassady (Henry’s father)..albeit, for different reasons 🙂

December 9, 2012 at 11:52 am #164173tiara_roseParticipantSome people think he could be the White Rabbit or somebody else, but nothing is in the moment definitely. So please if you have another idea. Share it with us, maybe in the end you will be right.

He is the realm jumper – taking ppl through ‘rabbit holes’ to other worlds.
Regina left a calling card – a White Rabbit Tarot – for Jefferson on Grace/Page’s bike.
Also, there are just way too many clues connecting Peter Pan to the name Neal Cassady.
December 9, 2012 at 1:48 pm #164183PriceofMagicParticipantI’m beginning to think Neal is Bae rather than Bae’s son. I hope Neal isn’t Peter Pan because there is so much story potential for him being Henry’s father and Rumple’s son that being Peter Pan on top of all that would spoil it.
All magic comes with a price!

Peter was arrogant and self-centered; pretty much the complete opposite of Bae. To pull that off they would have to completely change the character of one of them and I don’t think they could pull it off.
I have actually seen a theory that Hook is a grown up Peter and I really like that Idea.
December 9, 2012 at 6:24 pm #164198lilredParticipantYou’re right about the very different personality types, Faux Pax. I feel the same way about Neal being Peter too. I do see the clues and now think it’s a big possibility that Neal will be Peter Pan…but he doesn’t act the way I’d think an adult Peter Pan would act – especially based on how Neal wanted to settle down and live a normal life and I see an adult Peter dreading the idea of ‘settled’ and would rather be running off in adventure after adventure..
I really love the idea of Hook also being a grown up Peter Pan. Have ever since I saw this gif series about Cora confronting him being Peter, asking when he’d lost all his ‘happy thoughts.’ I think this possibility could be an epic spin!
I do feel the Neal and Bae personalities could match up very nicely… 😀

Exactly!! I don’t think Bae is Neal either (it’s too obvious) …I think we haven’t seen Bae.. I think the writers are trolling us and Bae will be someone completely unexpected
The Hook is a grown up Pan is one of my theories and it honestly (personality wise and from what we’ve seen) makes a lot more sense
December 9, 2012 at 7:19 pm #164207gypsyParticipantThe only problem I have with Hook being a grown up PP is, he was already grown up before he even went to Neverland….the whole premise of PP is that he went to Neverland to avoid growing up.
Why introduce PP only to exclude the entire point of that character?
