I think Baelfire could be dead. He went through the portal to a land without magic centuries before the curse took effect. Of course it could be argued that he travelled through time but it would be more tragic if he was dead. Just imagine, everything Rumpel has done from the moment Bae disappeared was to get Bae back. He got more power, he created a curse, for 28 years he’s been stuck in Storybrooke and still no Baelfire. He thought August was his son and he got his hopes up but it was not to be. Rumpel blamed the blue fairy for taking his son and didn’t like it when she told him that he drove Baelfire away. Rumpel has been fixated on getting Baelfire back but perhaps it is already too late. His cowardice has really cost Rumpel the things he loved most and he has laid the blame on other people (blue fairy for baelfire/Belle’s father for Belle) rather than himself. The only way Rumpel will become human again is if he learns to let go of Baelfire which means letting go of his power which is what Baelfire wanted in the first place, for Rumpel to become human again.
I still can’t get over what the Blue Fairy said. She called the vortex a “time hole.” That’s an obvious clue that Baelfire may still be alive.

Hmm…maybe. But didn’t the Blue Fairy call the green portal a time hole or something? I think the writers are trying to tell us that Baelfire is still alive, we just don’t know where though.
And with all these new theories about Baelfire being Henry’s father, I’m convinced that not only is he alive, but will continue to play an improtant part in the overall story.

If the vortex does indeed lead to earth, it’s possible he hasn’t arrived yet. To pull from my Dr. Who education, time isn’t necessarily linear, it’s…well…”wibbly, wobbly, timey, whimey.” 😉

Me too. There’s been some discussion on the time period that Storybrooke curently resides in. So, with this new development of the time portal, I think we’re on the track of finally learning about time travel in regards to the curse.
In regards to Baelfire, it would be interesting if he was sent to a completely different time period than present-day Storybrooke. He could be 200 years in the future for all we know. 😯 However, I don’t think that’s the case. I think he was sent to our world in a fairly similar time period as the current one. 😉

Exactly, my current theory is that Bael arrived hasn’t arrived, but he will soon. Which, if true, will make for an interesting father/son reunion.

Aww, I’d like that too. And the actor has sweetest little baby face. 😀
I also want to see them be one big happy family, but lets be real…these writers are going to torture us until the very end. 🙁
April 24, 2012 at 11:52 pm #143845celesstarrParticipantOk, did a quick recheck…I didn’t hear the blue fairy say time hole…but when Rumple is spinning his options with BF he mentions…relm jumper?, time tunnel?…curse?
So, maybe Rumple included a time tunnel formula in the dark curse.
