Maybe the spell isn’t a cloaking device. Like maybe it…turns BF into a frog or something, lol. But seriously, I agree that the BF could cloak the town and I love rumple, but that man is always more than he appears. Maybe there IS more to the spell…? After all he does hate fairies and he seemed incredulous that the BF just now made a reverse memory spell. How convenient.

May 13, 2013 at 12:59 pm #193714RumplesGirlKeymasterThat was just …./sniff sad for Rumbelle. I did notice how much they put Belle in the color blue at the Dock though –blue nails, dress–clearly, she was infected with Blue Fairy Plot Device Sickness. Ack, it’s spreading! I kid you not, the code for that color is 0000BF. 😆 😮 😆
Thank you. This made me laugh on a morning when I don’t feel much like laughing. Stupid show with its stupid feels.
Know I am repeating myself: Happy endings come at the end of a story. So, sorry, either happy endings or some more seasons for the show, seasons where all one true love couples will go through plenty of angst and drama and being kept apart by inner or outer forces. Happy endings can be more likely found in real life than on any TV series 😉
I don’t want them to have a “happy ending” yet. But I do want them together. We got plenty of Rumbelle angst this season. It’s time to let them have some measure of happiness. Snowing got it. They reunited, were broken up, reunited and have been fine since.
I’m just thankful she was given an assignment…that means she has something to do and hopefully that means she will still be involved somehow. I love RumBelle, but my real concern is that Belle herself will drift out of the show. That would be heartbreaking to me. I can deal with Rumple and Belle being separated as long as Belle still has a place in the story.
You and I are opposites, AngieBelle. 🙂 I can handle not seeing a lot of Belle, but it’s her separation from Rumple that is killing me. My first concern has been and always will be Rumple and he needs her. He could have cast that protection spell from the boat or had literally anyone else do it as Belle herself does not have magic and therefore it doesn’t require magic. I love Belle to death but I need Rumple to be reminded that someone loves him.
My hope is that by separating them it will give them the chance to develop Belle as her own character. Many people complain that she’s only there to be Rumple’s girlfriend. Well, the position she’s in now, if she’s gonna be doing stuff, she’ll be doing it as an independent character, not as one half of a couple.
If outsiders, like THO, do manage to find SB and invade, Belle will be front and centre in the attempt to defend SB. If anything happens to SB, if they all get run out of town, then that will make it even harder for Rumple to find her again, so she’ll defend that town with everything she has if anyone comes to threaten it.
I agree that they could be doing this to expand her character which would be GREAT. But i have to question how much of SB we’ll be seeing at all with so much else going on. And wouldn’t the protection spell prevent THO from coming into SB? Isn’t that the whole reason why Belle was told to stay.
Also Phee, you called it. Thanks for not saying “I told you so.” From now on, I listen to you. 😥
OMG I really hope we get some BF backstory that shows that there is actually something more to her! I want her to end up being diabolical, instead of a plot-device. Totally rolled my eyes over her having made the potion that popped up at just the right time, but on the plus side, it gave us Dwarves invading Gold’s shop to get their stuff back, it gave us a callback to Belle and Grumpy being old friends, and it led to the return of Chip. So it wasn’t all bad.
Henceforth all questions concerning the Blue Fairy shall be answered thus:
Plot Device Blue Fairy is Plot Device-y.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 13, 2013 at 1:04 pm #193717swanning-offParticipantI’m OK with Belle staying behind, as I said in my processing post in the unanswered questions thread. It means we – the viewers – will stay connected to Storybrooke, at least, or we know that the Char-Mills-Tiltskins have good reason to come back. (and please, no more family connections!)

I’m wrong far more often than I’m right, so take my word as gospel at your own risk!

It just seems like such a waste. *sigh* Hopefully we’ll eventually get some really cool reveal about her, but unless and until such time, I shall just sit and roll my eyes at the PDF.
May 13, 2013 at 1:16 pm #193728swanning-offParticipantEven Keegan Tracey-whatserface has picked up on the Plot Device Fairy thing. I noticed that while all the cast were live tweeting the finale earlier today, she tweeted something about “hopefully I’m off doing something important to save Storybrooke…. ??”
When even the actress thinks her character has been reduced to just a plot device mechanism, I think we can safely say that the Sneaky Fairy theories are all off the table. I would love to proved wrong, but doubt I will be.

😆 Every time the theory came up that Belle would be left behind, I squashed it like a bug. I was unprepared.

As bothered as I am that Rumple told Belle to stay to cast this sudden protection spell (which he could have cast from the boat or I don’t know…BEFORE THE OUTSIDERS CAME TO SB?!?! Seriously if he could do this all along then why didn’t he? Plot Device) I’m more bothered by the potion made at random with August’s hair. I mean wha—?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 13, 2013 at 1:58 pm #193752KebParticipantThe fact that Rumple asked Belle to cast the protection spell makes me think he believes she DOES have magic ability. And I think she can run SB WAY better than Prince Charming was (as much as I love him). Mayor Belle? I think Ruby and Leroy would get behind that campaign, and most of the town trusts them as extensions of the Charmings.
I dunno. I was pretty shocked he’d part with her, too, but I do think he’s trying to protect her. I’d love to see her get SB safe, regrow the beans, and find out that Neal’s alive. I really, really hope that they don’t write her out of the show, because she’s AWESOME. I mean, Adam’s tweets suggest that they’re not planning to…but after last year, I was expecting TONS of Belle this season. She did get two-point-five episodes, but the rest were just moments. Literally. Red got even less, which is also tragic considering she’s part of the Family, too–she’s Snow’s adopted sister–and an amazing talent.
Other than the ominousness of leaving Belle behind–which COULD be awesome if done just right but I’m not sure I can trust them to do it–the episode was pretty good. I’m SO glad that they finally acknowledged the Grumpy/Belle relationship again. Jeez. About TIME!
This show just needs more episodes. Many many many more episodes. Lots of them. Forever. Never enough time to do everything they need to with their amazing cast and premise.

As much as I want to trust them, every time I think about it I get nervous. If magical ability was needed to cast the protection then spell, then again I say Blue Fairy. I don’t think we’re going to be seeing much of her or SB for the first half of the season (I predict one full SB episode and one minor appearance in the season premire). I just hope they don’t keep the reunion until the end of S3.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 13, 2013 at 3:33 pm #193811PriceofMagicParticipantWhat happened to “all magic comes with a price” or perhaps Rumple considers being separated from Belle is the price he has to pay to keep her safe?
I hope we do see plenty of Belle next season. I also wonder if Belle is going to like using magic. If she is both, then the Lacey side of herself may get a kick out of being able to use magic like Rumple.
All magic comes with a price!
