Oh yes! The “dark Belle” spoilers. I’m really interested to see where the writers take this. I think it has the potential to be very awesome. I like the idea of Belle and Rumpel being the exact opposite of Snow and Charming. Actually, maybe not too dark though. I don’t want it to go against Belle’s true nature.
[adrotate group="5"]July 21, 2012 at 1:16 am #152319PriceofMagicParticipantWhat are Storybrooke’s views on an unmarried couple living together, possibly even sharing the same bed?
Fairytale land seems to have a more traditional view on relationships. Marriage before intimacy if you know what I mean. Marriages were arranged for, as Snow put it, “business transactions”. Once married women were expected to produce children and that seemed to be their role in life. Regina told Rumple that Belle was shunned because of her “Association” with him. (Two people secluded away together for months must have caused gossip about what was going on in Rumple’s castle)
Having spent 28 years in the modern world and possibly living with people they aren’t married to, (especially in Charming’s case, sharing a bed and sleeping with Kathryn/Abigail when he was technically married to Snow) Not forgetting that Snow/MM had a one night stand with Doctor Whale.
Will Storybrooke residents still uphold their traditional views or will they be more open minded? (Ignoring the fact that Rumple is one half of the relationship) Likewise, what are their views on Emma having a child out of wedlock? Would they be okay with it or would they frown upon it?
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixJuly 21, 2012 at 1:51 am #152320elleParticipantEveryone in Storybrook is going to have two parts to them–their orginial Fairytale selves, and the Storybrook version that was created 28 years ago. All of them will have their old memories and the fake ones, the old views and the new ones of the Storybrook world.
But everyone in Storybrook also seems to be a bit old-fashioned. When Mary Margaret was revealed to be having an affair with David, everyone in town shunned her, gossiped about her, and were outright cruel to her for weeks. Ruby is known to dress up in revealing clothing, and she recieves snapping remarks from her grandmother. Yet when Emma came into town, and she admitted the few details she was willing to talk about to Mary Margaret, she recieved not harsh judgement from the latter.
But not only are we going to get a darker Belle, I think we will probably get a lot of the other becoming darker, more vengeful of what they had gone through. All of them have just cause to go after Regina because she changed them, made act in a way they would not have, made them do things they would not have.

I will say when Belle called his name, he seemed tentative and uncertain as to what she might say or do as he turned around. I think when she said she loved him he seemed relieved and able to let his guard down enough to return an I love you he had been longing to say for many years.
I loved that scene! Mr. Gold didn’t know what to expect when Belle told him that she remembered. Remembered what? That he yelled, went mad, locked her in the dungeon, accused her and then sent her away? Because if she remembered that (and of course she did), he was lost. And I can see that in his face: “What do you remember?”
Instead she just said those 3 words: “I love you!” She remembers all, but she chooses to love him above everything else. I think they need to have a serious conversation about what happened before. But to start with, Belle wanted to make sure to him that no matter what had happened before, she still loves him. She still believes in him. And there will be time for everything else.
I love that scene!
And you know what else I love? When Mr. Gold first sees her, during the whole scene he never blinks. I think he thought if he closed his eyes, even if only for a split second, she might disappear. I found it so sweet and meaningful.
Anyway, I’m new around here. I’m a rumbelle fan and I’ve been reading and loving this thread. Have a nice day everyone! 😀

Welcome to the forums! 😀
I completely agree. Belle’s reaction to Mr. Gold in the finale was so sweet and honest. The first thing that popped into her head was “I love you.” I loved that. But I’m pretty sure she and Rumpel will have to sit down and talk about his son and the curse. She needs to know about it and why he created it.

I know! That was my favorite part too! It was as if he had scene a ghost. But I guess in his case, he kind of was. He honestly believed that Belle had been dead for the past 30 years. Poor thing probably really did think he was staring at a ghost. 😥

Thanks for the welcome! 😀
You know, I was recently listening to this song called “Vision of you” from Lea Salonga (the singing voice of Jasmine and Mulan in the Disney movies) and it just made me think of this scene and the visions of Belle that Mr. Gold maybe had. You can look for the lyrics or/and the song itself. It’s very touching.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that Rumple/Gold calls Belle by her name. Rumple only calls her ‘dearie’ at the beginning of Skin Deep, while in her father’s castle and then later in the final scene in the dungeon. I think for him everyone is a ‘dearie’ but Belle was not an ‘everyone’. He saw her as someone worth of calling by her name. Only when he wants to pull away from her he goes to call her dearie again.
I don’t know, I just love those little details. 😀

I honestly thought that he was going to avoid Belle out of fear of losing his powers, but I guess that isn't an issue. Hopefully, Rumpel actively tries to rid himself of the curse. I'd like for him to realize that family and true love are more important than magic and power.

I’m really excited to see the kiss between Belle and Rumpel too. I was so worried that they wouldn’t be able to because of Rumpel’s curse, but I guess the writers found a way around that. I’m going to go with the popular theory and say that the reason why they’ll be able to kiss is because Rumpel is no longer the Dark One in this realm. His curse probably only exists in Fairytale land. So, all the limitations he was forced to live with back in Fairytale land will no longer exist. THANK GOD.
