I think that’s the case too.

I love the things I find on tumblr ’cause I found this: http://onetruepodcast.tumblr.com; A podcast dedicated to the discussion of television ships and OTPs. Second episode focuses on Rumbelle.

I like this scene as well especially the part where Belle says she could never love Gaston and Rumpel is hanging on to her every word and shakes his head. There’s other little moments as well such as when Rumpel is looking out the newly uncovered windows and Belle is following very closely behind him, when Rumpel realises how close she is, he sort of jumps back away from her. I also like how Belle was very forward and touchy-feely with Rumpel when she returned to the Castle with the straw.
After watching “The Crocodile” I realized that this scene takes on even more meaning when you compare Belle and Milah. Both share the same desire for adventure and “seeing the world.” However, while Milah leaves Rumple and Bae without so much as a note to go adventure-ing with pirates, Belle willingly gives up her chance for adventure to save her family and village. Even more, she sticks to the deal without complaint and manages to always have a kind word and a smile for Rumple despite losing her chance for adventure. Take a look at what she says.
“Well, I did want to see the world. That part didn’t work out. But, I did save my village.”
That statement, I think, went a long, long way in gaining his love and respect.

October 30, 2012 at 5:19 pm #158654PriceofMagicParticipantWas Rumple randomly picking up women to teach them magic? In The Doctor, he put his hand on Regina’s and quirked his eyebrow and at the end there was Regina’s replacement who Regina killed. Was Rumple trying to make Regina jealous?
Perhaps Rumple had other reasons for wanting Belle other than being lonely.
All magic comes with a price!

I think that in ‘the doctor’, he was just moving and controlling the situation so that Regina would become evil…and become his chance to cast the curse. I think that casting the curse was the ultimate goal. π

When they redid the Beauty and the Beast story with Rumple and Belle they kept all the markers that made the pairing incredibly creepy. Rumple is abusive towards her, yet she falls in love with him. Sure, he lets her go, but after she comes back he gets really angry and locks her up again. Even as they are parting and she pushes him one more time, he keeps saying horrible things. It’s just unsettling that after that, when she regains her memory in STB, the first thing she does is tell him she loves him.
I don’t doubt that Rumple loves her, but that doesn’t mean he deserves her. Belle is pure sweetness, she sees all the good in people, and that is awesome, but that doesn’t change the fact that Rumple is completely evil. He is manipulative and conniving, and a flat out murderer.

The Beast is always evil and terrifying, and the Beauty is supposed the pure, innocent maiden who brings out his better side. The only version of Beauty and the Beast that doesnβt have the Beast as a pure murderer is the Disney version. But nearly every other version of the tale Iβve read or seen on film, the Beast kills innocent people. So, Rumpel is actually one of the tamer versions of the Beast.
And as far as Rumpel abusing Belle goes, he only grabbed her and threw into the cell after he thought she was working for the Evil Queen. So yeah, Iβd be a little pissed too. π And his feelings towards her were pure and he wanted to let her go, but she returned soon after to give him true loveβs kiss. So, he was actually being quite lenient with her.
Disney has a way of brainwashing people into thinking that their version is the truth. π

The only time he was horrible to her was when he thought she had betrayed him–he needed a way to find his son, and he knows that Regina wants to be more powerful than him. He does have enemies, and so he assumed that Regina had gotten to Belle and turned her against him. It doesn’t jusitfy what he did–he should have talked to her!
And Belle herself was never truly angered–she was disappointed in him, and I think she always knew that he loved her. π And so she sees him, and remembers how he had embraced her in the shop, and realized that he finally admitted to himself that he loves her, and I think that showed her how much he regretted what he had done, and that was what helped her to forgive him and admit her love.
Are they like Snow White and Prince Charming? No Thos.e two have complete trust, faith, and understanding of one another. They have gone through much for each other–fighting for one another, and talking. But the two of them could be on their way there.

Oh, Elle….You are soo right. I couldn’t have said it better myself. I just had to sigh with happiness at the fact that someone thinks the same way as I do. π Thank you for your post.
