He wears shirt garters in Storybrooke. In a few episodes, Mr. Gold has his suit jacket off and you can see them. I’ve noticed them before. The purpose is to hold the cuff in the correct spot so the sleeve doesn’t need to be hemmed. (Being short and having short arms I know they can be useful, although I’ve never used them).
RG, read my post above yours. They’re quite visible when she’s in her jacket. The gloves appear to be the ones he used in season one and in the premiere of season two.

All magic comes with a price!

November 3, 2013 at 12:00 pm #220699JosephineParticipantA quote from the tumblr that Obis posted:
Bae would be his Happy Ending and Belle his Happily Ever After, and that isn’t an ending…it is a beginning.
This. Really, he needs them both, but before he can move forward whole-heartedly with Belle he needs closure with his past. He needs to confront his childhood, his marriage, and what he did to Bae before he can move forward. Man needs some self-forgiveness, too.

I agree.
November 3, 2013 at 12:04 pm #220701RumplesGirlKeymasterI think Keb may have posted that a few pages back, right after 304. I know many of my fellow shipmates were upset (and screaming to Adam about it) but this is a relationship of TWO PEOPLE. And, I cannot stress this enough, you have to understand them as two people. And most importantly you have to understand Rumple and his psychology. This is a man who hates himself. In his world view people abandon him because he is unlovable and unworthy of love. He has never, for one second, understood why Belle came back or why she stays. It literally does not compute in his head. He wasn’t rejecting Belle in 304, he was rejecting his conscience and acknowledging his own inner turmoil because he generally does choose the the selfish and easy path. This is my favorite part:
The beautiful resolution would be that Bae witness Rumple’s ultimate sacrifice in saving Henry, but that Bae can somehow save him in turn, thereby securing both his redemption AND his life. Then he might find reconciliation with Bae and begin to accept his own worthiness for True Love with Belle. Then Bae would be his Happy Ending and Belle his Happily Ever After, and that isn’t an ending…it is a beginning.
This is my total headcanon except that Belle kisses Rumple back to life a la Beauty and the Beast.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 3, 2013 at 4:51 pm #220724betsypaige24ParticipantI have to say that it’s getting harder for me to enjoy the show – and even to root for Rumbelle. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll adore them until the end of time, but they never have air time and Belle’s storyline thus far has been ………sad – not just in terms of screen time, but impact. At least had she been Gold’s subconscious, we’d be seeing how much he loves and depends on her. Now as probably Pan’s trick (still hoping it’s Gold’s shadow), what exactly was the point? Pan had already messed with his head re: daddy, so………….? It has to be that they had to give Emilie SOME air time before episode #7 – isn’t there something in a regular’s contract that states they have to have a certain number of on-air minutes?
November 3, 2013 at 5:34 pm #220729RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m not exactly thrilled with Real!Belle’s lack of screen time either but the focus for the first half of the season HAD to be Neverland. I’m glad they included Emilie in that to some degree. As for Vision!Belle…there are a few theories, actually. My favorite one so far is that the firs time we saw her, 302, it was Rumple’s conscience talking to him. But then in the times since, 304, it was the Shadow playing with Rumple’s own inner turmoil. I think we’ll find out soon, but I also know based on spoiler pics that 305 was the last Belle-less episode. And real Belle will be seen in 307 and from there out. So we just gotta hold on
