I honestly don’t know what we will get, if anything, of Rumbelle in the 2nd half. If history is any indication, not much…… Rumbelle, whether together or apart, has never had much screen time.
I’m trying not to hope because hope gets me nothing but disappointment, but IF they ever decide to show FB to FTL, I would kill to see post-library moments between Rumple and Belle, when they obviously must have become friendly, and post-curtain scene (pre-bravery talk) moments, when things must have been very awkward between them because neither could ignore their feelings.
Marty, I would LOVE to see FB to SB times that we never got to see……..I don’t think we will, but it would be lovely; it bothers me that ONCE basically shows every single moment of Snowing’s lives together (Ulysses by James Joyce comes to mind), but Rumbelle fans get the Cliff Notes version
I don’t think he thought that he’d die after finding his son, just that it seems that by this point he’d given up hope – hence Belle suggesting it wasn’t too late. He hoped so, but then when he said his ending would not be a happy one you knew he was depressed.
I guess the point of this FB was to show the parallels between his “My ending shall not be a happy one” and his last line of the episode, his talk about being happy with Bae and his comment to Bae about how Bae can be happy without him, and then the implication, of course, that he won’t have a HEA with Belle. Lastly, the “he’s not dead, he’s lost”……where Rumple is defensive about it. Is somehow Belle going to think that about him?
Now that I think about it, Jane said in the commentary in Skin Deep that the reason Rumple believed Regina’s claim that Belle had killed herself (instead of seeking proof) was that this is the kind of thing he expects from life. So, it makes his “my ending shall not be a happy one” and his “villains don’t get happy endings” (no baby, you’re not a villain) even MORE poignant. Poor sweet baby had such HOPES for his future with Belle – that epiphany he had in Ariel was a huge deal to him. YET, I think his last words reveal what he must have always believed in his heart – that despite his hopes, he was always destined to die alone. At least, though, from his perspective, he was taking control of his destiny and saving his beautiful Belle and his boy. ** As I said yesterday, I think he could accept not having a future with his son because parents have to let their adult children go to live their own lives, which is why he told Bae he’d be happy even without his papa. I really do NOT think that Gold ever truly accepted and made peace with never having that life he needed and wanted with Belle. You could see by his last looks at her that it was killing him…………
[adrotate group="5"]December 25, 2013 at 3:39 pm #233721Marty McFlyParticipantno, I don’t think he was just being depressed. I think he knew. (knowing might have made him a little depressed)he might not have known the exact circumstances of his death, but he knew. (he thought Hook’s poison will kill him, he thought he’ll die in neverland) I think that this was the point of the flashback, even though some people hope that the line “not dead just lost” is important, I think being lost in neverland and being dead are two different things.
as he tells Cora: “I can see the future. weren’t you listening”December 25, 2013 at 5:43 pm #233730betsypaige24ParticipantThat’s ok, we can agree to disagree. By the way, Adam already confirmed long ago that Gold does not have powers of prophecy in SB – he lost those when the curse was cast.
If he thought he was going to die from the poison, it’s because he was already poisoned; he was suffering – he could feel himself dying. He had no idea before going to NY that Hook would be there and attack him with a poisoned Hook. He did think he was going to die in NL, but that’s because Gold (a) believed in the seer’s prophecy and (b) misread it. After his Belle- epiphany, he fought fate and fought for his future.
I’m unclear what the “not dead, just lost” line has to do with NL, but it clearly as Gold is not dead, it can be very significant. In order for Belle to find him, she’s going to have to believe something like this………….There are other parallels as well
December 26, 2013 at 7:51 am #233771PriceofMagicParticipantJust had a thought. Rumple said to Belle “He’s not dead. He’s just Lost” In the Outsider, Rumple said to Belle in the car “If it wasn’t for you, Belle, I would’ve been lost”
Maybe Belle is going to be the one to find Rumple and bring him back.

I’m laughing also because of Emilie’s Paley Fest comment that Belle was “lost”…….and everyone laughed, lol.
Seriously, I thought about that Outsider comment as well. Belle is the only one (maybe with Bae) that I want to find Gold…….that HAS to happen.
I wonder why, if he’s redeemed and saved, his body had to disappear. Did a higher power need him someplace else?

I think Rumple’s disappearance served two purposes. 1) They needed everybody to think he was dead including Belle so that she can find him and reunite with him again otherwise the RumBellers will revolt and there will be a RumBelleution. 2) If Snowing think Rumple is dead, they’ll have to find there on solution to their upcoming problems rather than running to Rumple all the time to sort it out for them.

LOL All true……oh and yeah, when he comes back? They still need to figure things out for themselves because I’m fairly certain Rumbelle will be DONE with the Charmings and their poor timing, lol. I feel like the Charmings are really stand ins for censors or whatever group of people decides “hey, you can’t show this stuff on TV!”
As to the 2nd point, they could have kept his body and not separated them, lol…. I’m close to revolt myself and many others have revolted already, lol. Seriously, this is the ultimate separation – they can’t, they just CAN NOT separate them AGAIN in S4.
I was thinking that maybe Gold disappeared because he actually died and has to be reborn in a way. I don’t mean spiritually or anything like that, but his sacrifice broke the curse, cleansed him of all that had taken root in him and purified him….I don’t mean that he became a saint, just that in those moments he became bigger than himself, became not just the best version of himself, but a NEW, version, the VERY best version.
What I don’t want to happen is for Gold to ever forget all that has happened to him. I suppose it’s inevitable, sigh, that he lose his memories (at least temporarily), but whenever it is that he’s back to normal as his de-cursed self, I think it’s important that he still be that same man, the man who had struggled and worked so mightily to be a better person, who had transformed through loving Belle and being loved by her. I want my baby to be my baby, lol

If he looses his memories I am going to be irate.
I want an epic reunion. The one on the docks was very public and sweet and family like and I loved the one at the shop too but give me the swelling music and the running into each other’s arms and devouring each other with kisses.
Am I asking too much? Probably
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"December 26, 2013 at 8:30 pm #233839PriceofMagicParticipantRumBelle are probably THE couple on the show that has the most smut written about them. They have such great chemistry and are so passionate that EVERYONE knows that if they have time alone, they’re having their way with each other.
Maybe that’s why they’re constantly separated? The writers are trying to keep the show family friendly. It would explain why RumBelle scenes always have a cutaway at the end of them, they’re not allowed to show how the scene progresses further.

I think most likely you’re right. We got Regina and Graham but it was to demonstrate Regina using him against his will–and of course Adam says we’re interpreting the scene, for all we know they could have been playing cards . Snow and Charming are married so it’s “family friendly” (which I find hysterical given that this show is based on a curse that required patricide and black magic and has so far seen murder, adultery, fornication, rape, patricide and teenage pregnancy)
I just hope that this is the last separation. Ever.
